Secluded Cottage on Private Estate 23 acres. Hiking and parks nearby.lovely deck
Property Description:
Five minutes from Carmel or Monterey, this secluded home is a dream get-away for a couple seeking quiet beauty and charm as a way to balance all the easily accessed fun of the Peninsula. This cottage, a secret paradise, is part of an architecturally exotic estate on 23 acres in Jack's Peak. It is a discovery you won't want to miss.
The entrance to the estate is gated and the Casita cottage guest house is completely secluded. It was recently remodeled and is very comfortable. It is about 575 square feet, with a combined kitchen/living area including a twin daybed for a third person/ child. The one bedroom is ultra quiet with a comfortable King bed, privacy blinds, authentic Tibetan furnishings, and a "65 screen with WiFi. The glass-sided shower is tiled to the ceiling with limestone. The patio area is private and lovely with a covered table surrounded by sequoia redwoods. The patio has a new HotSpring spa for soaking, an outdoor shower, Weber grill, an adjacent secret garden with overhanging grape arbor and fire pit for late night star gazing. The house is heated when necessary by a wood burning stove/fireplace. (There is plenty of wood available on the deck to fuel the fires!). Space heaters are also available. Casita Cottage guests will have ample secured private parking immediate to the guest house in the driveway.
Interaction with Guests and Guest Access:
The Host, Peterson, will greet you and go over essentials upon confirmation of the reservation and/or before your arrival at which time the main property gate code and his phone number will be made available. Please feel free to contact him for any questions or issues. There are other residents on the estate who could help in an all-out emergency, but privacy for all is the rule of the day.
The Neighborhood:
We love the birds! Owls, Redwing Hawks. Oh so many birds. We feed them, too. Our neighbors treasure their privacy and this is considered a rural neighborhood, with five acre minimums to build. Very quiet, and we ask our guests to be relatively quiet also.
There is also a small herd of sheep and goats maintaining the property vegetation who love any extra treats you might want to share on the way to a hike in Jack's Peak Regional Park (900 acres to hike and enjoy the view), which is an easy walk from our driveway.

This is a rare jewel of a place. My wife and I had a wonderful stay at this retreat in Carmel. It was close to everything but far enough away that we had privacy, peace and quiet. The hot tub worked very well and the property itself is lovely.
The Casita was an enjoyable and unique part of our coastal get away…and the casita was exactly that…a getaway from the tourists in the area where we truly relaxed and enjoyed each other’s company. We enjoyed the creativity & design of the property
An amazing and enchanting experience, one of a kind. The host is wonderful. Everything about the experience far surpassed our wildest dreams. Absolutely loved it!
Peterson went out of his way to make us feel welcome. The cottage was clean and comfortable. The amenities were extraordinary. Although the place does not have central heat the wood stove created a warm and peaceful environment. Enjoyed the serenity of the patio area during the starry quiet night. The wifi and cell service is almost non existing, but who cares. If you are looking for a peaceful get away in a relaxing environment, this is the place to stay. Peterson welcomed us to tour the grounds which has an interesting past worth exploring. We will surely return.
Loved the whole feel and atmosphere of the property. Definitely a must stay for an enthusiast that appreciates the architecture and feel of being in a different part of the world
Amazing property away from the hustle and bustle, but conveniently located near restaurants and shopping. The host was wonderful. Overall a fantastic experience.
Loved our stay here….nestled up amongst the trees so it was very peaceful and secluded. Loved relaxing watching the fog roll through in the morning. Comfy bed!

Thank you for the great review. I hope you come back.
Absolutely gorgeous and peaceful property! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay although cell reception and WiFi service was very weak which just meant more downtime and relaxation!
I was looking for a quiet place for me and my dogs for the July 4th holiday. My cozy cabin was perfect. Peterson was a wonderful host and I felt at home while there. I would go again.
This place was in te country and very quiet with an artistic and very functional house plus a huge deck. Sunny every day (above the fog line) and we mostly stayed at the place. Took some nice hikes. The host was wonderful and we want to go back soon.

This couple couple was totally delightful. We enjoyed them so much. I would rent to them in a second again. I hope they return.
The casita is located on a23 acre estate that is five minutes from Carmel. It was unique and eccentric and beautiful. We absolutely loved it. The host, Peter, was kind and gracious,
My husband, dog, and I had a great time in the cute little casita. Very comfy bed and beautiful surroundings. The location can’t be beat! Peterson was a great host. He even left us some wine and fresh baked bread upon arrival!
This was the most interesting and gorgeous place I've ever stayed. Read the articles and booklets about the place! It was hand built by the owner over 10 years with art and architectural pieces collected from around the world over the course of his lifetime. Absolutely fascinating and incredible.

Lolo how did you come up with such a sweet review people are going to think I paid you to say those things just kidding all the best. You guys were sweet and wonderful. Thank you so much. Please let any possible post know that you were great guests!
This is one of the most unique places that we have ever stayed at and we thoroughly enjoyed the serene vibe that it brings. The architecture, vintage artifacts, gardens, statues and design is extremely enchanting and dreamy! The only downfall was the hot tub; it wasn't what we expected and no instructions were provided on how to operate it or if it worked at all? Otherwise, the secluded cottage is a phenomenal place to stay!
Aside from a few outdated listing pictures of the cottage, the experience was pretty magical. Location was perfectly situated between Carmel and Monterey. Access to property was seamless and the host was probably the most interesting man in the world. He was there only when we needed and got to share some great stories. Highly suggest experiencing this for yourself.
Very fine. Furniture inside could’ve been smaller to fit the space, more Persian. And the butcher block for eating table could be replaced by a table where you can fit your knees under. But otherwise, unique and delightfully offbeat.

About the host
Hosted by Peterson Conway VII
I've been a resident of this area since childhood. I am an established antiques dealer, with a store in Carmel-by-the-Sea that has been there for 40+ years. I import art treasures, spiritual, and architectural pieces from abroad.
Why they chose this property
The 23 acre estate resides on an elevated spot on the Monterey Peninsula called Jack's Peak. The trails on the property weave through thriving gardens, with views and lots of local wild life to enjoy. There are several outdoor seating areas around large fire pits where you can enjoy a drink at sunset. (Firewood supplied.)
What is unique about this location is how it feels completely secluded and incredibly quiet, yet in fact we are within 5 minutes' drive of both Carmel and Monterey and just 10 minutes away from several iconic beaches.
What makes this property unique
This is sacred land to me. It’s historical and beautiful. The legend is that this is where the indigenous peoples hid out when the Carmel Mission was being built.
