This original early1940's Carmel Cottage has been tastefully updated and exudes old world charm. The home maintains it original latch and key farmhouse doors, rustic paneled walls and wavy glass wood windows. The 2 Bedroom/2 Bathroom w/Office home is located in the Heart of Downtown Carmel. This Cottage is within a few steps of all the great restaurants, shops, wine tasting rooms, art galleries etc that Carmel has to offer. Just a short 12 minute stroll to the beach, everything is easily accessible and walkable. The Sunset Center and famed Forest Theater are also just a couple short blocks away. There is also a lovely farmer's market every Thursday that is right around the corner. We also have a shed in the back filled with beach supplies that guest are welcome to enjoy.

The beautiful and secluded outdoor backyard space includes a spacious deck, fire table, fountain and gas BBQ. This peaceful atmosphere allows you to soak in the great weather amongst the mature Coastal Live Oaks on the property.

Inside you will find 2 bedrooms both tastefully decorated with vintage furniture that add to the charm of the home. In the master bedroom, there is a King bed with a TV and private bathroom/shower. The second bedroom has a queen bed. There is also a separate office that is an ideal space for those that are looking to work remotely.

The living room has a "Art Frame" TV along with a wood burning fireplace. Perfect after a romantic stroll at the beach, a day of wine tasting or an afternoon spent shopping.

The kitchen is well stocked with dishwasher, , wine glasses, pot/pans and a cabinet stocked with spices and other convenient necessities for a cooking dinner for a nice meal at home. We also have a variety of teas, Nespresso and Keurig machines to help get your day started.

The cottage is a short drive to all the tourist destinations such as Big Sur, Nepenthe, Carmel Valley wineries, golf courses (e.g. Pebble Beach, Spanish Bay, Poppy Hills, Black Horse, Bayonet, and Pacific Grove Muni), Monterey Bay Aquarium, Cannery Row, and the Monterey Wharf.

We had a great stay. The home is a block from the restaurants and shops of town. It's also a reasonable walk to the beach. We appreciated the host's personal recommendations and beautiful home. Lovely retreat to relax

We enjoyed the location very much as it was a short walk to the beach and a quick walk to tons of shops and restaurants. The backyard offers a nice place to work and to relax in peace when the downtown area gets crowded. The kitchen was very well stocked with tools, cups, etc. We were glad it was just the two of us once we realized the path to the primary bedroom is through the other bedroom, or the adjacent hall bath. The home was very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed our visit very much. Thanks for sharing your beautiful home with us!

Lovely Place & Excellent Location

If you want to be within walking distance to everything in Carmel by the Sea and stay at a VRBO that is fresh, bright, clean and very well stocked, look no further than Beauty & the Beach! Even though we only cooked in one night, we appreciated that the cottage came with all seasonings, oils, dishes, pots and pans one could ever need to create a nice meal. The beds and pillows were super comfy and we loved the added bonus of spa style robes and slippers! The sweet little gifts they had for us when were arrived were a nice touch and Mark & Krista were easily contacted when we had questions during our stay.

Fabulous Stay!

I can't say enough about this beautiful cottage! The home is walking distance to all the shops and restaurants and only .45 miles from the beach. It's beautifully decorated inside and has the most amazing backyard. The home had high-end touches that one would typically see in a 5-star hotel (robes, slippers, high thread count sheets, etc). My husband and our teen daughter stayed in this lovely cottage during July and it was absolutely wonderful. The location was right off Ocean and easy to walk to all the restaurants and shopping. The property though is what was so special and it made us instantly feel at home. It's so charming and everything felt new and fresh, but it was all the little details the home owners thought of that made this one of the best rentals we have ever booked. Our hosts, Krista and Mark, have created a two-bedroom gem in Carmel. The house was spotless with beautiful decor, great light, comfortable beds and linens and all sorts of unexpected amenities. The backyard patio is an artfully designed space with beautiful flowers, plants and a table with a built in fire source. The house also has a small office, which was perfect for remote work. WiFi is excellent. Location is 2-3 blocks to shops and restaurants, and a 10 minute walk to Carmel beach. Even better than the pictures!

Beauty and the Beach - The Best!

What a delightful stay we had over the holidays at Beauty and the Beach! Krista and Mark, the owners, could not have been more communicative, helpful, generous and available. They were thoughtful and responsive at every turn. The house itself is a darling cottage, beach-style home that is cozy and pretty. We cannot say enough about the location - it could not be any closer to all you want to access in Carmel - galleries, restaurants, shops - all are within a short walking distance. Plus the beach is accessible walking down 8th or Ocean Ave. where you can view beautiful sunsets or walk along Scenic Drive, We were so happy to be able to stay at this property and hope to be back in the future. Where do I start? Mark and Krista were wonderful! They made me feel right at home and also gave me a thoughtful welcome gift. The location could not be any more perfect. It is close to all the fine restaurants, shops, entertainment, and I was able to walk to the beach. Their home is filled with charm. I could tell how much thought and detail they put into making this cottage. The backyard is beautiful as well. I love this cute little cottage and can't wait to come back!

We have been coming as a family to Carmel-By-The-Sea for years and finally decided to purchase a place in our dream area. Our children love walking to the beach, going to the Sweet shop cottage to get a special treat and exploring all the great parks and hiking areas, beaches and restaurants in the region. We have spent countless tireless hours to bring this original beach cottage back to its original glory. We sincerely hope you and your family enjoy our home and make many wonderful memories here in Carmel-By-The-Sea.

Location, Location, Location. This Cottage is ideally located for your enjoyment. This cottage is located in town!!! There is also a short 12 minute stroll down to the beach. Everything the town offers is within close walking distance.

We value our renters and have poured our heart into this beautiful little cottage. We want our clients to experience a piece of Carmel history while enjoying some modern conveniences. We have tried to think of every little detail to make your stay as comfortable and memorable as possible.

What makes this property unique

This cottage has a great blend of indoor and outdoor space to enjoy and make great memories with your family. A large 6 seat designer farm house dining table to enjoy a nice meal inside along with a large back patio surrounded by old growth coastal live oaks and one of the biggest oldest coastal pine trees in town. There is a wood burning fire place in the living room for a cozy night in as well as a gas fire table in the back to enjoy a glass of wine while looking up at the stars. We've also stocked our backyard storage shed with beach gear (sand castle kits, chairs, umbrella, boogie boards, for your use and enjoyment). This beach cottage has it all!
