A spacious double-story, four-bedroom holiday home located in Manaroa, Clova Bay, deep within the Pelorus Sound. It serves as the ideal hideaway for up to eight guests, just 100 metres from the water and offering breathtaking views of the sea and mountains.
The home is fully self-contained, clean, and comfortable and features a retro theme. All beds are made up, with fresh linen provided for every stay. Internet, Wi-Fi calling, and Digital TV are available. The shore and bays have mobile data reception, but not the house itself.
The windy and slow scenic drive from Havelock takes approximately 2 hours, while from Blenheim it takes about 2.5 hours. There are no shops in the area. The Hub Café is a wonderful midway stop, as is Portage Resort which offers a bar and restaurant.
From Havelock, boats and water taxis take about 50 to 70 minutes to reach Clova Bay. From Clova Bay, it takes a 25- to 40-minute boat ride to the outer Pelorus Reach coast and Cook Strait for excellent diving and fishing.
A boat launching jetty is located 200 metres down the road. Shore fishing is excellent, but kayak or boat fishing is even better! Signature catches include snapper, gurnard, blue cod (in season), kingfish, and more. (Jetty bait fishing – excellent for kids.)
Mooring: There is one registered mooring shared among three holiday homes. Please enquire about availability when booking. Important: Always secure your boat to the mooring rope and not the thin buoy rope. For jetty pickups, call 027 579 8444 when leaving Havelock and again when you are 10 minutes away from Clova Bay.
From Clova Bay: Restaurants and Cafés: Ponga Cove (drive), The Portage Resort (drive ), TeRawa Resort (boat).
Please note: No extra guests permitted.
No pets.
All rubbish must be taken out; there is a free skip at Portage and another on this side of Linkwater.
Due to distance from amenities, your host, Marion, will be available (next door) for any enquiries, help and emergencies.

A luxurious secret tucked away in Marlborough Sounds
If you're looking for a gorgeous retreat tucked away in the wilds of Marlborough Sounds, you would be hard-pressed to find something as perfectly sited and accommodating as Trudy's in Clova Bay. We had the honor of being the first guests to stay at her newly-renovated home and it was a delight across the board. Yes, it takes quite a few seemingly-endless winding roads to get there from Havelock, but it's the kind of challenge that rewards you at the end with a setting straight off a postcard. Our kids enjoyed fishing from the dock, interacting with the sheep right outside our front door, and sampling the mussels and other treats that caretaker (and next-door neighbor) Marion and her family so generously provided. Most importantly, it's just perfectly quiet and utterly relaxing. Our three nights simply were not enough. If you're looking to hit the reset button and immerse yourself in the beauty of the Sounds, this is most-definitely a location worthy of your consideration.

Lovely family and respectful to our home. Left the place clean and tidy would definately rent to them anywhere anytime
Loved the location and the house was ideal. Amazing weather the whole time and 3 kingfish which really sealed the deal. Marion is a legend. Dare we say best New Years we’ve ever had. Thanks for having us we will be back!!!!!
We had a lovely 7 night stay with great fishing until the weather turned.
Initially we planned on coming by boat from Havelock, but drove in the end and it took more than 2 hours because of towing the boat. We were glad we had driven as carrying our gear 200m along the road and 100m up the driveway would have been a real mission. There is no dingy with the mooring so you need to bring your own or swim.
It is a restful place to sit and do nothing or lots. We visited a Gannet colony, saw seals, and a pod of whales came into the bay.
Trudy is a generous owner and was kind enough let us change our booking at the last minute due to sickness. Marion lives next door and offered to give us a wee tour of the interesting cemetery.
A beautiful setting for a break from the rushed life we live. Really enjoyed our time here. Kids had fun kayaking on the sunny days we had, great walks and super evenings around the fire. Everything we expected and more.
After a few days camping at the near by DOC camp ground the massive two person bath was just what we needed. Great sun, very clean, fantastic kitchen, mud room and outside filleting station added bonuses. The Veiw, the sun and the location are hard to beat. Way better than a resort, even with a couple near by houses the place feels like you are alone. Great little beaches near by. We will be back.

Fantastic and Relaxing
We had a wonderful relaxing holiday . Four bedroom house was ideal for our family of 6 to 7 ( house can easily take 8 )with plenty of living space. House great for young children as a large grass verge out the front. Also a sheltered area at rear of house or a great place to sit if too hot out the front.
Our hosts were sooo accommodating and sorted anything we needed including a port a cot and the house was very well equipped with extras like salt , pepper, sugar, herbs, flour , gladwrap etc. An outdoor sink to fillet fish.
The boat ramp was 100m away so easy for my husband to launch boat and children can fish off the jetty ( and catch small fish on any tide.).Shell fish plentiful. If you go for a wander there are nice little places to swim and you can also water ski other side of bay. It is a big drive out there ( took an hour and a half from Linkwater ) but once you are there it's worth it . Oh we loved the Hopai Sports Day Picnic in the bay around the corner. Hope to be back as a great place to discover the Sounds.
