Cottage Stay

The Cottage was a bit underwhelming for the nightly price. The place can use some updating that's for sure, especially in comparison to the other properties on the street. Bathroom Toilet Areas are a bit tight for anyone over the average size. Great location and street though! Good thing Catalina Island is a beautiful place, and we spent most of our time outside enjoying the Island.

This property looks and feels very old. It is dark, noisy, and kind of creepy. We didn’t think the sheets on the big bed were clean. The towels looked dirty but we found some new ones under the sink. The bathrooms are laughable. We’re tall people and you couldn’t sit on the toilet and close the door. Overpriced. All it has going for it is location.
This is the decoration in the living room. Who is this? Scared my grandson.

Lovely, cozy place to stay

Our family of 5 had a lovely time in Avalon. The property was quaint and perfectly sized so we could spread out a little. It was the right distance from the grocery store & it helped save some money by being able to eat breakfast “at home”. It wasn’t too far away from all of the fun things to do & see.

House was dirty beds had blood, poop, pee on blankets we had to clean kitchen and bathrooms. The air conditioner did not work also mold all over the shower curtains in both bathrooms. Called owner and housekeeper came and changed just one of the shower curtains and put nasty stained blankets and sheets back on beds. Will not return to this house. Very disappointed.

The house was able to accommodate us all fairly well. The location was about a mile walk to Descanso beach club, which wasn’t too bad considering the views on the walk. With that being said, the house could use some updates (shower, paint, curtain rods, etc.). Also, some cookware in the kitchen needs to be updated (mainly pots and pans). The outside of the house could also use some maintenance (cleaning out the shed, removing cob webs, etc.). Overall, my family enjoyed our stay on Catalina island.

the whole place is like a run down double wide trailer. in one bedroom there was a half curtain "hiding" a destroyed bathroom, tinfoil wrapped around shower handle to prevent leaking, plywood construction. Can't shut the bathroom doors while your sitting on the toilet. It's just very clear the owner puts zero money into upkeep of the property. For the same money you can do much better at one of the hotels

At the time of your stay, there was a temporary fix on one faucet to prevent leaking while we waited for new fixtures to arrive. These have since been replaced.- Upkeep & Maintenance: We strive to maintain the property and address any issues promptly, but being in a more remote area, scheduling contractors can sometimes take longer than expected.We appreciate your comments and will use your feedback to continue making improvements. Very dated and not functional

In previous reviews we knew the property was stated but we expected it to be functional. The shower in one of the bathrooms did not work.Curtain rods would fall off the walls windows don't open and close properly or all the way front door lock

They were jackhammering and laying the foundation for a new home 3 feet from our window from 8am to 5pm. The owner had to know this and should have disclosed it. At night the street turns into a frat house. No hand soap in the back bathroom.

Hi Catherine, we shared your review with the homeowner who would like to pass on the following: "We are very sorry for your experience. This incident was unfortunately out of our control as The City of Avalon had a rare necessity due to new construction, and had to rehook a new saltwater sewer line, requiring a jackhammer. The jackhammer work was supposed to be done on April 6th only at the cottage across the street. We found out about the city work the prior week and quickly sent a chat message to Evolve so they knew and a text message to our maid service a few days before your arrival. Your stay was also during spring break which would explain the noisy youthful vacationers, especially because Eucalyptus is a closed street to traffic. Families usually book Eucalyptus for outdoor BBQs and for kids to safely ride trikes and skateboards. This should be a consideration for those looking for a quiet vacation. We want all of our guests to have a wonderful time at our family cottage and apologize again for your experience. We hope the rest of your time enjoying the island charm was worthwhile and will visit again."

Catalina Trip

The location was neat and Catalina was hands down amazing! The property we rented wasn’t up to par as far as cleanliness. We found hair on one of the toilet seats and some on the bathroom floors. It took 2 days for the owner to respond regarding an early check in. She was kind and let us put our things inside the gate until our check in time. The air conditioner started leaking right after we turned it on right when we arrived. Water got on the floor- we cleaned it up and notified the owner right away. We weren’t able to use the A/C the entire stay. Luckily it wasn’t too hot. There were perishables left behind in the fridge. The back bedroom with the two beds had like a room closed off with a curtain. (Weird) It had some old furniture in there like a storage. Doesn’t seem like the property was kept up continuously, it wasn’t very clean.
