Classic, spacious 1930's beach house just 90 minutes from Seattle. Fast Wi-Fi with an office for work, and the most iconic Mr. Rainier and water views in the South Puget Sound. This is a quiet retreat from city life, though the charms of Gig Harbor are only 30 minutes away. Drive a few minutes to 3 state parks, or just stay and enjoy the beauty and peace.
The house retains its original charm and has been updated with a cozy gas fireplace, a new kitchen, quartzite counters and stainless steel appliances, fresh interiors, and a deep soaking tub. The dining and living rooms comfortably accommodate a family or group of friends, and the remodeled kitchen has all the you'll need to make great meals including pots, pans, coffee maker, colander, garlic press, dishes and utensils, toaster, rice maker, Instant Pot, blender, and basic spices and oils.
While here, you can kayak, play Badminton, roast marshmallows at the beach-side fire pit, paddle, play a round of bocce ball, or just relax. There is an eagle's nest next door and the birdlife generally is amazing, especially in the winter. A pair of seals keep an eye on the house most days, and a pair of deer often flank the bocce ball court.

We had a lovely stay! Comfortable beds, lovely cozy decor, great kitchen and dining area and cozy and comfortable living room. We had a great ladies weekend and look forward to returning next year.

Oh, thank you Merri! I love hearing that. You certainly hit the jackpot with clear weather and that huge moon.
I enjoyed reading your note in the guestbook. The neighbor’s cat is our unofficial mascot who often races across the lawn to greet arriving guests.
Thanks for leaving the place in such a tidy shape. And please do come back!
We enjoyed our stay so much. Wished we could have stayed another day. He pictures of the view of Mt. Rainier

Hi Jeff! Thanks for the great (if accidentally truncated☺️) review. The cleaner had very high praise for the way you left the property so thank you for being such considerate guests.
This place was perfect for our sister reunion! The house is lovely with many spots to be social as well as sneak away and read a book. The view was my favorite, I couldn't get enough! It was the perfect place, we didn't want to leave!

My three friends and I stayed here for a girls weekend. It has amazing views, comfy beds, and is a really cozy home. The owner was incredibly friendly, responsive, and flexible. We all agreed we'd stay here again.
This home has the most beautiful view imaginable and the charms of a lovingly updated older home. Our group has visited several times and we will be back again. The property owner is quick to answer inquiries and we love that she shares her wonderful home.

6 of us convened for a relaxing girls weekend and couldn’t be happier with Cathy’s house! Perfect access to the water which was a beautiful, peaceful spot for a paddle. Next time we need to stay longer!

Aimee and her party were perfect guests—communicative, gracious and most important to me, they earned a five star rating from my cleaner for how tidy they left it. I highly recommend these guests.
This is a beautiful home at a beautiful location on the water. This fit our group of 4 adults and 2 children perfectly. The house was stocked with everything we needed, and more. This house was one of our favorite rentals as we could enjoy water views from multiple rooms. I hope to be able to visit again!
We had a wondeful time at this lovely house with simply outstanding views of southern Puget Sound and Mt. Rainier. The wildlife in the area was amazing - lots of bald eagles, seals and even otters lounging on the floating dock. Rear deck and multiple levels in the tiered backyard made for some excellent times for our family.
The views from every room of this house are spectacular. Between that, the cute cozy decor and comfy beds, we all had a relaxing fun stay. The kitchen was well stocked for cooking. The host was responsive. Would recommend.

This was a top notch property. Full of ambiance. Beautiful inside and out. Quaint cape cod completely renovated but keeping the charm of the 1939 structure. Everything you see posted in the pictures is right on. Our family thoroughly enjoyed every single minute of our stay.

Thank you, Carolyn, for your generous review. I am thrilled that the clouds parted for the wedding you attended while staying there and that the mountain came out for you. BTW, the next door neighbors spotted Orcas in front of the house during your stay! You must return and lure them back☺️
We had the best experience-all due to the attention to details and pride that Cathy takes regarding her property. The house is stunning, designer furnished and has everything you need for a first class stay. We will be back!

What a lovely, tastefully appointed home that has been updated, keeping it's period charm. And that VIEW is jaw-droppingly breathtaking. We enjoyed our girls' weekend away together, relaxing, dancing, and eating too much good food. Thanks for sharing your home. We would love to come enjoy it again soon!

This lovely home, with its incredible view and quiet setting, was the perfect fit for our family of five to enjoy a few days of spring break vacation. Spring weather in the Puget Sound is mercurial, but we got lucky with three clear, albeit chilly, days to enjoy kayaking the bay and watching seals, bald eagles, and other wildlife. We would not hesitate to return.
Was a nice break and VERY peaceful. Kayaks a great touch. Bring a fan in the summer as a bit warm on hot days but to be expected. Thank you.

Hi Arvind. I am glad you enjoyed the views and kayaks and appreciate the useful feedback. As of Wednesday, the house will have five new fans, one for each bedroom and living room. Thank you!
I stayed with my family and parents at this magnificent home that just blew us away with the setting, the views, the wildlife and the comfort and decor of the home. We felt so so lucky to be there and spent the week talking about the changing tides, admiring our surroundings and playing in the water. It felt like we were staying in the home of a friend, not a rental and Cathy is so generous to open her cozy welcoming space to strangers like us. Can’t WAIT to come back!!

Emily, thank you so much for your kind review! I love it when families like yours enjoy the property as much as my family and I do. And thank you for leaving it in such great shape. My cleaners appreciate it and so do I. Come back soon!!

What a peaceful and serene spot to relax! We really enjoyed sitting on the deck and in the living room just absorbing the beauty around us. Kitchen was well stocked and great for cooking family meals. I took my grandparents with me, and there's a bedroom and (not ADA) bathroom on the first floor which was convenient for them. The rooms upstairs were comfortable and lovely! I couldn't spot a heater upstairs, in case you run cold, but the living room fireplace was very nice on cooler evenings.
I am in love with this property! I can't wait to return. The attention to detail at the Beach House is above and beyond. Everything you need is there - if not, one call to Cathy and your needs are met, she is awesome. As we were packing up - all I think about was can I stay one more day and when can I book another stay!! Thanks Cathy - the experience was priceless, and my girlfriend was left speechless by the absolutely beautiful house! Dianne

Dianne, you are the best guest ever. I must share with others who read my response that at this point we regard each other as co-owners of this beach house, to the extent that you have begun adding amenities such as a cocktail shaker, serving dishes, and very chic martini glasses.
Until the next time and really, we must have a cup of coffee or drink sometime in Seattle!
Our experience at Cathy’s house was beyond expectations. Not only was Cathy such a great and responsive host, but we got to the house with all the instructions and the perception as described on the house details. Little did we know that it would surpass our expectations. The house is super clean and beautiful. The views are out of this world, even on a cloudy day, and just the vibe of being around nature and birds chirping gets anyone in a great mood. I will definitely be back here in the fall and until then, i will remember the memories and think of some great times we had this weekend!

Mahalo to you for that lovely review! I am so glad you and your family chose Halcyon House for your Fourth of July getaway and happy you enjoyed your stay.
Aloha,
Cathy
What an incredibly peaceful property and home! The view is amazing (and we didn't even see Mt. Rainier during our stay due to clouds - but the view was still beyond fantastic)! The rooms were comfortable, the decor was perfect, and the home was beautiful and clean. The mix of modern and vintage (those wall sconces were wonderful) was lovely. We loved our stay! Cathy is the most attentive VRBO host I have ever had the joy of encountering (and I have had a number of terrific VRBO hosts)! She is quick to respond to messages and so incredibly helpful and thoughtful! Both her character and the character of the home are gorgeous and welcoming. We also had a great time exploring the shore and discovering all kinds of crabs and shells! We are so grateful for our time at your home, Cathy! Thank you for sharing your extremely special, peaceful place with us!

About the host

I grew up in Gig Harbor and first visited Filucy Bay as a child. This house is around the cove from the summer home of my parents' best friends, so the area holds many happy memories for me. I am thrilled to have a home of my own here now, and happy to share it with those who know and love Filucy Bay, and those who soon will.
Why they chose this property
I love old houses and old, established landscapes. This house and its grounds were well loved and tended by its prior owners and I hope to continue that legacy.
What makes this property unique
There are many gorgeous waterfront views in the South Puget Sound, but this house's view of the islands and Mt. Rainier is truly iconic.
