Joannah and her family were a pleasure to host. They treated the house as if it were their own - and were super helpful when the washing machine broke down. Happily have them back to stay.
Awesome Bach, so spacious. Its hard to find a place to accommodate 4 couples comfortable. I would highly recommend this Bach, clean, tidy with lovely vintage touches, quiet and warm.
The yellow house was perfect for our family of eight adults – all wanting you come together, but also needing their own spaces to read and play music and talk. Such a lovely light-filled comfortable indoor-outdoor feel to this house, and so close the sea and the beach but also private and protected, we all felt relaxed and happy and at home. Great, too, to entertain the wider whānau. We won’t forget our stay – the pinnacle of which was an evening walk on the beach together as the sun set and seeing shooting stars. So beautiful. Thank you to our hosts for their generosity in sharing their home.

Good Stay
House suited our family needs and had all that we needed. Given we had travelled long distance were grateful we could check in earlier. Slightly disappointed with state of BBQ as this and the BBQ tools were rusty and unusable. Was somewhat dismayed that we had not been told until check in that we had to remove all our own rubbish and given the cleaning fees we had to pay think this should have been included. Communication was good but we did receive two reminders (from two different people) on check out day that we had to be gone by 11am. Thanks
Great space -flash kitchen with all mod cons! Comfortable sitting room fire great.
Lots of space.
Double w/ ensuite perfect.
Garden & decks lovely & so easy to get to beach.
Well stocked pantry & flash coffee machine!
Lovely seating on decks.
Only concern back 2 bedrooms smelt very musty & like 'moth balls' really needed airing & seemed like had not been used for some time.
Rest of house fine.
Also an inappropriate artifact in the bathroom that we put in the cupboard.
We stayed here 12 years ago & it was fun to come back & see the changes to the house!
Thansk :)
Beautiful layout, solid condition (a bit worn but totally serviceable), and great location (though agricultural run-off down the stream next to the property due to rain meant we couldn’t swim). The house needs a really thorough clean. It’s infested with moths, so we’ve had to wash everything we brought with us to get rid of them. There were also a lot of strange smells (mildew and air freshener combined with anti-insect plug-in things. The smells really bothered some members of the group, and meant we combined into a few of the less smelly bedrooms. So - with the kids sleeping with adults it was a very tiring week. Not quite the holiday we were hoping for.On the whole - it’s a great place for a couple of families to share, provided you’re not to bothered by odors (I generally wasn’t, but others really were).

Hi Aaron,
Thanks for taking the time to review your stay. I am surprised that the place was infested with moths. I am wondering if you left windows and doors open in the evening, with the lights on, which will attract moths. If it was the previous guests, the cleaners may not have noticed as they did a quick turnaround clean. If that was the case let me know, as I am happy to consider reducing the cost of your stay if the house was not properly clean. The insect repellants are in all rooms for the use of guests if they want to use them, similarly the diffusers. Use of the insect repellants means you can sleep at night with the windows open and not get bitten by mosquitoes. The house was renovated six years ago and is double-glazed and fully insulated. The kitchen appliances were all replaced at that time. The furniture, I have collected over many years, and is meant to reflect a beachy, 50s vibe.

Large house and lovely location
Large house to accomodate 5 of us, great location, private with 2 lounges. Some ocean view -so close to beach. The beds were very comfy. However there were some cleanliness issues. Mainly on surfaces, some kitchen cupboards - mostly the bottom surface and doors were quite dirty, and I actually cleaned one being so bad as it was covered with a large spill. While the main areas were cleaned (bathroom, floors, kitchen bench and fridge) attention to detail was dropped in other areas, and for the cost of the place we expected a spotless kitchen. Also the dressing tables in one of the bedrooms at least, was covered with dust too, so while clean in some areas, not in others. Also some inconsistencies on website, paper towels and shampoo are supposed to be provided but there were about 2 sheets of paper towels and no shampoo. While these are smaller things they are important as attention to detail enhances the experience. There was a wet patch on the carpet when we arrived too which was not mentioned by the property manager either, we assumed it was cleaned. These notwithstanding, the place was well appointed and it was a great stay for our 5 days.

Thanks for leaving your detailed comments. The house is usually presented in absolutely clean condition and I am sorry that was not your experience. Yours was a 'fast turnaround' for our extremely diligent and committed property manager. However, the previous guests had misled us as to how many people were staying. They had said 4 adults and 2 children. In fact the numbers far exceeded that - there were 7 cars, 2 motorbikes, several children and 2 dogs (the latter of which we don't allow). Our manager tried to get the place up to our usual standard of cleanliness for your arrival (4 hours after the previous guests left). The lack of paper towels and shampoo was also explained by the previous guests. We would happily have replaced them if we had known. We are sorry your holiday was marred by these issues. But glad you did enjoy your stay in the area.
The listing under represented the experience at this property, which was full of nice surprises from bluetooth speakers to a coffee machine, and the beach right out the back of the property. We were spoilt for choice for lounging and eating together both indoors and outdoors, a nice way to reconnect after 6 years apart.
Had an unforgettable stay at this place , couldn't fault it in anyway
Absolutely stunning location right on the beach and the house was so beautiful, loved the character and furnishings
Went for a lovely kayak and a bike ride aswell, all in all couldn't recommend this magical spot enough
Lovely home and very spacious. We were all confused with the use of the stove. White tail spider in
Lovely place to gather before a family wedding in te horo. Unfortunate about white tail in the bed having a chew on my brother. He came up with a fat ear
Ouch. We struggled figuring out the stove and oven got it in the end. Otherwise a lovely stay had by all. Thank you very much
