A snug wood retreat yum uncooked breakfast with home baking and a bubbly treat.
Very cute and sophisticated space it is dressed in gorgeous macrocarpa wood floor to ceilings which makes it feel like a warm hug! It has 1x King bed and 2x King Single beds with comfortable soft furnishings and a large new modern bathroom with shower and double vanity to create the sense of style and sophistication. Small but adequate kitchen with mini fridge, Nespresso coffee machine, microwave, toaster, electric jug. This property is unique and I’m sure you will not be disappointed with the location of this gorgeous space. The night sky is spectacular as we don't have road lighting so it gets really dark and the stars just shine! Self checkin with lockbox😊 lots of great places to visit like our much loved local cafe “the bus stop” te horo beach Sims road open weekends, Te horo beach just 5 minute drive, less than a hour from Wellington city and ferry terminal. Super location for weddings at Sudbury and local markets. We are on the hill side of Te Horo and are on a no exit road so its quiet and tranquil with alot of native birds. Fabulous local walks and bike trails 3 minutes away.

We had an absolutely lovely stay. Beautiful space, with everything we needed - particularly appreciated the extra touches and the delicious kai. Thank you!
If you are looking for somewhere to stay that is a little different from the rest of the run of the mill places, and is exactly as described, then this is the place for you !
This was an exceptional place to stay! The host was so welcoming and easy to communicate with, and the accommodation itself was beautifully put together. The space was cozy, the location was private, and the breakfast was phenomenal. Could not recommend this place strongly enough - we definitely plan on coming back at some stage!

We thought the converted barn was super cool with so many creative features to admire. The extra food items were an unexpected suprise. Our host was friendly and helpful. We loved the Country feeling and the beautiful ducks and sounds of nature.
The personal touches and attention to detail really made this house a home. You can tell a lot of thought and care went into this place, its a lovely getaway and would definitely go back :)
Janine is a wonderful host. She provided a yummy cheese dip (and the recipe), artisan bread, cake and breakfast stuff. The accommodation was really comfy and handy to anywhere on the coast. Lots to do - swimming at the beach and walking the escarpment track were two favourites.

We very much enjoyed our two-night stay. We were welcomed by many extras that we did not expect. The space is stunning and beautifully themed. Cosy and appointed with quality bedding and chattels. I would recommend it to anyone who wants unique getaway accommodation.
Beautiful property, we could absolutely tell that someone had put a lot of love, thought and care into it. Janine was a great host, we appreciated the care parcel of breakfast foods and delicious snacks and was stoked to see a bottle of my favourite wine in the fridge! She also had an excellent recommendation for a local cafe. We had a wonderful weekend away and would definitely stay again!
Loved extra touches of muffins bread and flowers and magazines. The Iron was a lifesaver to iron shirt before my daughters wedding. Decor of room was 1st class my partner loved horse theme. Would definitely stay again.
This place is a real hideaway but not that difficult to find. It's a beautiful place with a nice cozy set up, clean room, nice bed, great breakfast provided and free wine!!! We really had a very pleasant stay.
Janine making sure our stay at her Bach is taken care of properly.
We will come back again if we have chance in the future.

The host has clearly put in so much thought and care to creating a welcoming and beautiful space. Having a holiday somewhere like this, with its unique wooden interior and style, makes it feel like much more of a proper break from daily life!
As well as the lovely environment, it was delightful to have a beautiful cake and other treats waiting for us!
I highly recommend this for a peaceful break.
The hosts left so much for us to enjoy .. wine, orange juice, coffee pods, muesli, yoghurt, bread, honey, jam, etc.
The accomodation is really comfortable with fully tiled bathroom .. and looks unique with lots of style ..
Love seeing the kereru in the guava trees outside ..
Our family of three adults thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The property is unique, well presented, clean and fresh. Linen is first class and the location is exceptional if you are looking for a quiet break away with only the sound of the trees and nearby creek. Hosts left a beautiful tray of goodies to welcome us. Contact with hosts was excellent and very responsive. We will be back again.

This place is beautiful. The setting is quiet and tranquil, the sound of running water from the stream adding to the ambience. The fully wooden interior feels like a cocoon, encapsulating you from the outside world. The level of hospitality provided is outstanding. The breakfast basket and cheese platter were both delicious with high quality products. The attention to detail in the decor is stunning. It's an absolute retreat from the world and so good for a short break away. Highly recommend.
This was an absolutely outstanding property - it’s clear the host has gone to some lengths to offer a truly exceptional experience!
It actually felt like we were stepping into a home and garden magazine. Quality linen, generous breakfast offering which included home made bread and preserved fruit!!
There were even fresh flowers, chocolate cake and a bottle of organic wine (with some tasty snacks) to enjoy during our stay.
We could not fault a single thing and will definitely recommend this property to anyone wanting a retreat with some pampering.
Thank you Janine!

About the host
Hosted by Janine Scott
Mother of three, my husband is from Otaki originally and I was bought up in Paraparaumu and we decided to move this way in 1980’s for the scenery and the super location, schools and amenities. I owned a equestrian shop which we imported product from Europe and went to our top showjumping shows in our customised Freightliner truck. Our children have grown up here and went to the local school. There's no other place we would like to move to at this moment.
Why they chose this property
The views are beautiful and we’re close to the beach without the hassles of a beach property. We are an elevated site so you get fabulous veiw from the road of our beautiful area. Its a great equestrian area and also fab for water sports and biking and only 1 hour from Wellington city and 3 hours from skiing at Ruapehu.
What makes this property unique
We have a super house which we planned ourselves. The barn over the stream was originally my equestrian shop and has been transformed into a bnb it’s private and is great to wonder up the road to the culdesac at the end of our road to buy native flowers. We are only 5 mins to Te Horo beach and 2 mins away from the fab Ruth Pretty’s cooking school and cafe where she sells yummy cakes and slices and you can browse her kitchen shop. Our gorgeous friend Kirsty has her unique Blue Bus cafe at Te Horo beach which has the best homemade treats and coffee set in a tranquil garden but only open fri-sun as it’s so special. Donuts, custard squares and coffee to die for! We’re are also close to the Otaki falls where you can swim in the river at “the pots” high is popular in summer or head into Otaki to shop in the outlet stores. Markets are every Saturday in Otaki and we have one in Te Horo every first Saturday of the month 3 mins away. There are special events like Xmas markets, Otaki kite festival, Ruth Pretty’s amazing cooking classes most months the list goes on.
