A majestic and unique home with stunning ocean views overlooking the bay of Carrillo. The house is located on a quiet cul-de-sac road right in the village of Carrillo, just a few minutes’ walk to restaurants and 750m from the beach.

The house is very spacious and offers 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The master bedroom has a queen size bed, the second bedroom has twin beds, and the third is furnished with a bunkbed. There is also an inflatable bed available for extra guests. The bedrooms all have air conditioning, the downstairs bedrooms have large closets and sliding doors leading to the pool and terrace areas.

This special home is tastefully furnished and decorated. On the second floor you will enjoy a fully equipped kitchen with beautiful wooden cabinets opening to the living room area. The house boasts teak cathedral ceilings throughout.

Facing the ocean, a large terrace with ocean and sunset views will entice you to sit and relax while gazing at the ocean or watching the numerous birds and animals roaming the area. A soft ocean breeze is always flowing throughout the house.

For entertainment, there is a TV with digital cable, DVD player and bluetooth speakers. If you have to work, the home offers high speed internet that allows for videoconferencing (50/5 Mbit+).

Enjoy the the beautifully landscaped garden and amenities like a separate BBQ gazebo. Bathe in the sparkling 25ft long pool that is totally private. This tropical paradise is truly a gem!

Delightful family vacation!

A great location Many good restaurants within walking distance. Close to Carrillo Beach which is one of our favorites. Have an icy snow cone type drink made by Carmen. The pool isn’t huge but it was perfect for us and so refreshing after a day in the hot sun. Air conditioning in the bedrooms for a good night sleep. Perfect Place to Chill and Relax

Enjoyed the convenience to beach and restaurants. Found the surroundings to be simply magical, with proximity to wild life and greenery. We walked the beach every morning, lounged in the pool afternoons, and had all that we needed to prepare meals in the evening. Recommend stopping by Samara for farmers market, though the market in the village had plenty of staples as well. Nice restaurants within walking distance, particularly the Argentinian Grill. Recommend without reservation.

perfect house at a beautiful beach

We loved our stay here! The house was clean and updated. Beautiful grounds and view of the ocean. We enjoyed the pool and the outdoor lounging area. Small grocery store along the main road close by, and more options in Samara which is a short drive. The bay was so spectacular. Gentle waves and beautiful beach. The property manager helped set up an in home chef for days we needed it. We did not want to leave!

Absolutely spectacular view and location! It was 4.5 hours driving from San Jose so I suggest flying into Liberia Airport. Absolutely worth the drive though. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Casa Marelie was amazing

The house and pool were perfect for me and my wife and our 4 kids. The view out to Carrillo bay is awesome. Each bedroom is air conditioned but the common areas are not. Tons of wildlife in the backyard (iguanas, so many birds, lizards) and u can hear/see the howler monkeys in the trees about 100 yards from the house. Carrillo and Samara are both great beaches to explore.

Everything you could ever want...

This house was immaculate and they did not forget anything. My husband, daughter and I had the most beautiful six nights at Casa Marielle. Melissa and Tim (property managers) were wonderful and went above and beyond to make sure we had all of the information (and friends for my daughter!)that we needed. The beach just down the road was absolutely perfect for swimming and bathing and marveling in its beauty. Samara was ten minutes away and had all of the restaurants, activities, etc. that you would need. The other direction were sweeping glorious beaches, nesting turtles.... definitely suggest renting a 4x4 if you are planning on driving. This house was a perfect ending to our trip, not easy to leave. My husband and I drank coffee on the porch every morning, listening to the sounds of the distant waves and watching the parakeets fly by and howler monkeys in the trees.

Wonderful house with super view

Casa Marelie probably is the best vacation rental we have ever picked! Easy communication with the very friendly new German owners before and during our visit. The house is even nicer and bigger than we expected from the pictures. Great views not only from the balcony, but actually from all bedrooms, from the kitchen, living room, from the covered terrace and even from the pool! Two large bedrooms (would work perfectly for two couples) and a small one. Our family loved the area and enjoyed both quiet playa Carrillo as well as the lively playa Samara. Many restaurants in the area. (Do not miss El Colibri if you like steaks.) We all loved the „Turtle nesting tour“ that we had booked online (but it would not have been a problem to book it in Samara). If you were lucky enough to find a vacancy for your travel dates at Casa Marelie, look no further! And stay more than just a few days, because you will hate to leave - I promise!

It's literally the best vacation home I rented! The house is super comfy and convenient. There is everything you need... and the view is just amazing! Wonderful House with Great Location and Ocean View

This house was exactly as described -- only even more beautiful. The ocean view from the interior of the house, the downstairs patio, upstairs deck and especially the pool can't be beat. The location was perfect. You can easily walk into the town of Carillo for groceries and to eat at a few restaurants. It is a short drive (~ 10-12 minutes) to the more touristy Samara with many more shops and restaurants. Playa Carillo is beautiful and nearly deserted. You can walk there in about 15 minutes or drive there in about 3 minutes. It is easy to park. A definite highlight was a horsebacking riding tour with Luis into the jungle and on the beach (quite a deal at $30 per person for a two hour trip). If you are looking for a quiet place to soak in the beauty and sounds of Costa Rica and experience a little bit more of the Tico culture, this is the house for you. The A/C in the bedrooms work really well and the rest of the house stays reasonable cool if you open the windows (which have screens). There also is a ton of wildlife on and near the property. We were visited daily by a couple of iguanas, many beautiful birds and were often awoken in the morning by the screeches of the howler monkeys which we saw from the house on day and after walking down to the end of the street, saw an entire family with a few babies on several occasions. The house is clean, well appointed, and the local property management people were very responsive. Overall, just a fabulous place!

What a fantastic stay at Casa Marelie!

The house is amazing with a wonderful view to the sea, including some great sunsets, and in a perfect location. It is in walking distance from Playa Carrillo, one of the most beautiful beaches I've seen, and it is also just a short walk to the village with nice restaurants and little supermarket. I even took the bus once from Samara, no problem, the bus stop is just on the main road close to the house. The kitchen is fully equipped, including a dishwasher, which is not standard in CR. There is air con (A/C) in every bedroom, which is good to have here, and there is a washing machine. The pool is perfect for a family and if you're lucky, you can see a local iguana come by during the day. We also took some tours that a local agency offered (Blue Zone in Samara), great horseback riding and dolphin watching! I will definitely come back again!

We fell in love with Costa Rica when travelling there the first time in 2006. We have since come back often and were lucky to purchase this beautiful home in 2019. We use it as a vacation home, but are happy to share it with you when we're not there!

Why they chose this property

When we first saw the house, we were impressed by the ocean view as well as the beautiful design. It's in a nice neighborhood, walking distance to some really good restaurants. We also love the fact that it's just a few minutes by car to Samara, where there's shopping and nice restaurants on the beach. Plus, you don't have to travel a bumpy dirt road up some mountain - it's less than 300 Meters from the paved road going through Carrillo.

What makes this property unique

The house, formerly known as Casa Sevana, was built by a swedish architect in 2007 and has been beautifully designed and well maintained. It is walking distance to Playa Carrillo, one of the greatest beaches on the planet. The house features ocean views, a pool and three bedrooms. It has a separate BBQ-area, pool shower and a beautiful garden.
