This adorable secret hideaway is a self-contained efficiency apartment set in the midst of Hudson Valley majesty. Over the garage of a property called The Silo (see listing for details as well as information about the setting), The Nook can be rented alone for one or two people or can be included with The Silo for large gatherings.
Vaulted wooden ceilings create a sense of rustic history in this spacious apartment. A kitchenette, fully stocked, allows for self-sufficiency in dining, though countless award-winning restaurants are within reach in nearby towns, including the Stissing House just minutes away in Pine Plains. A potbellied wood burning stove, dining table, storage for everything from your skis to your golf clubs, and distant views through full length windows make this retreat an irresistible getaway.
Please note that the when the Silo is rented, they do not have primary usage of the rear slate patio or firepit/gas grill area. We do provide a table for two on the porch of the Nook, a picnic table, charcoal grill and private parking around the back of the Nook.

For anyone looking for a very lovely, comfortable, quiet place to stay, this property will not disappoint. The space is clean, well-supplied with all you could want and the location is beautiful: fields, hawks, deer, great blue herons, and lovely views. I wish I had another reason to go back.
We had a wonderful stay at the barn. The location is stunning. The barn had everything my son and I needed for a short stay. We enjoyed the garden/grounds and the people renting the silo were great too. Mary was very responsive and answered the phone at 10:25pm the night of our check in when we were lost in the dark and stayed on until we’d safely arrived. Mary was also honest and refunded part of our deposit that had been inadvertently overpaid. Would highly recommend the barn for a short stay.
I was originally booked into the loft unit, but due to a large gathering at the same time Mary moved my booking to a cabin for the same price. On the day I was traveling to Pine Plains, Mary called to tell me that there was a problem with the cabin and she was moving me to the Carriage House.
That turned out wonderfully for me! There was plenty of room to spread out with my purchases from the NY Sheep & Wool Festival each day, and the location was quiet and peaceful.
The property is located on a private road with a gate that is locked each evening for privacy. A little brook separates the houses/barns from pastures with grazing cows and horses. Looking out the windows in the early morning was so calming!
This is a wonderful location and I highly recommend staying here!
We stayed at Mary’s lovely property to celebrate my moms 80th birthday. The home was incredible and every possible amenity was thought of and provided. It was truly magical.
