About this property
The Kennebunk House: The Quintessential Beach Cottage Awaits!
Tucked in a quiet neighborhood, but only steps from the beach, the Kennebunk House has been a home away from home for families for decades. We purchased the property in 2009 and renovated it to include many of the modern conveniences you need. Even with these updates, the house remains true to its character as a seaside cottage with plenty of room for a single family or an extended group of friends and family. The house sleeps up to 12 in five bedrooms, including a separate "family bedroom" in the guest house that sits directly next to the main house. The Kennebunk House boasts an impressive number of common areas to allow you to enjoy your vacation: the propane-fueled fire pit for late night conversations, the front porch for a cocktail while taking in peeks of the ocean, the the first floor of the guest house for a spirited pool tournament, or the living room of the main house with its impressive stone fireplace. A block back from the ocean and walking distance to three beaches (less than 200 yards, the closest being the sandy Mother's Beach (including a great playground for kids) and the rocky Middle Beach) and Webhannet Golf Club , this quiet location offers easy access to all the Kennebunks have to offer. Overall the stay was great our families had a fantastic time… location was perfect, did not like renting the linens, would have paid more if they were provided for ….but the house was great
Stayed here with my parents, my wife, and two children. It was the perfect place for us because of the detached 'guest house' where my parents could stay (and get a break from the kiddos who are pretty high energy).
Beautiful kitchen and plenty of spaces to eat as a family made this a great entertaining house, as well.
And to top it all off, it's very easily walkable to Mother's Beach which was perfect for us.
What's not to like? We loved it.

So glad you enjoyed your stay! The Kennebunk House is a pretty special. We would love to welcome you back next summer!
We had an amazing stay at The Kennebunk House, it was the perfect place for a multi-generational family reunion. The beach nearby is stunning and the perfect place to be with young kids — the tide pools and playground were endless entertainment. We made great use of both the firepit and outdoor shower out back. The toy and games closet was amazing! The house was so comfortable and easily accommodated our whole crew — it was even bigger than it looked in pictures. Patrick was very communicative and so helpful with every question that came up. We really appreciated having the beach chairs, toys, and wagon available. Our only issue was the inconvenience of having to bring our own linens when most people coming to the house were flying in (there is a local linens service, but it's outrageously expensive). That said, we'd be thrilled to come back. The house and location were just perfect. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

We are so glad you had an amazing stay! We love the house with all of its charm and love when people get to have that same experience. We hope you will consider coming back again next year! Thanks for the feedback on the linens. We stopped providing linens due to feedback from our guests over the years as they did not like spending their last day of vacation washing sheets and towels. We specifically allow our guests to decide whether they will bring linens or rent them as providing the rented linens for our guests as part of the package would mean we would need to increase the weekly cost of rental across the board. We can certainly look into if there is a way to work with the linen service to provide better pricing for our guests at our houses. Thanks again and be well!
Great house and great location for a big group specially. It has all you need. The outdoor fire pit and porch are really a plus. We all loved our stay and would recommend for sure.
We had a wonderful week. House is beautiful and great for large families. Owner very responsive to questions we had. Plenty of beach chairs and beach toys provided. Great neighborhood close to 2 small beaches.
Comfortable, roomy home with great light and multiple inviting indoor spaces, along with a wonderful exterior front porch and fun fire pit. Kitchen was well appointed and great for a group of 10 to enjoy meals at the house. Unmatched location to the beach and easy to get into town. In all, a fabulous home in a beautiful location.
Our group had a wonderful stay. The house offered so many great gathering areas including a big fire pit and porches. The beach was only a couple of blocks away and Kennebunkport was a 2 mile walk or drive. All around a great time.
What a wonderful place to stay! The teens had their own space and could walk to the beach and bike into town. There are two different small, uncrowded beach options a block away where the adults could watch the tide all day. Less than a mile away is a beautiful beach for a morning walk or sitting if you like a bigger beach. The house is charming and spacious, and the hosts are responsive. We hadn't gotten a vacation since the shutdown began and knew we needed a safe place to head for a week of unwinding before the school year; we could not have chosen better. We were able to eat outside at lobster places all week without having to sit inside a restaurant. It's a fantastic family vacation for really any age at all.
We had a super week at this home with friends and family. The location cannot beat if you want to be near the beach, only a couple minute walk to Mother's beach. The property could have had more beach chairs (only 4, and they were in sad shape). The porch was awesome to hang out and have a cold drink. The porch also had enough seating for everyone. We had a catered lobster bake and it was a hit ! Our twin teen boys loved the "casita", the small house with the pool table, king/bunk beds, and kitchenette. My final thought is the linens. Having to wash linens and make the beds is a big ask, especially during a pandemic (Were the sheets really washed?? who knows). This has to be done the morning you leave, which truth be told is a hassle and a downer on your way out. Thank god for in-laws. I knew I invited them for a reason :) The grill is great, ss is the fire pit, though it was a scorcher of a week, so did not have a chance to fire up. All in all a great property.

We are thrilled you had a great stay! We love the house and love when people get to experience it and enjoy how special it is. Thanks for flagging the issue with the beach chairs. We were not aware the supply was down so low, but we will make sure to get a new crop of chairs right away. As for linens, we have historically provided them as we have largely retained the same renters for much of the summer year after year. However, particularly given the circumstances (and recognizing the hassle), we will be looking much closer at requiring guests to bring or rent linens (both of which are options currently, but not required). Thank goodness for the in-laws! :-)
A fantastic week close to Gooch's and Mother's Beaches - well equipped for a family of 12 !
We spent a fantastic week with our family (7 adults, 2 teens and 3 kids) in this house which is well equipped for a large family - July 27th to August 3rd 2019. The kitchen is well furnished and all new. You don't need to bring anything! The rooms are clean and most have a fan on the ceiling which we appreciated ! There are plenty of space outside to eat (two tables) and a great fire pit (propane) where we stayed to relax during the day and in the evenings! There is a large gaz griddle and a large Weber BBQ which are clean and well working - this is great for breakfast and dinner ! There is a small house where one of the family (mom, dad and their two children) could stay alone for the night and share the rest of the day with us - they even had a big fridge!
It's really close to Mother's Beach and a pleasant 10 min. walk to Gooch's beach where it is easy to park the cars (we had 2 passes provided by the owner) for those bringing the chairs... It's very close to Kennybunk Port (4 minutes drive) and less than 15 minutes to Hanneford in Kennebunk!
I would recommend that place to anyone as we really enjoyed it !

We are so glad you enjoyed your stay! Our goal is to make the house as welcoming, comfortable and convenient as possible. We hope to welcome you back again next summer!
Early morning coffee on the comfortable front porch is so good for the soul - sunrise, birds calling, the sound of the ocean as the tide rolls over the shore. Kennebunk House with its attached apartment provided a spacious layout for our family. You could always find a place to curl up with a book. Although it has several indoor showers, there was always a line for the outdoor shower. From biking to kayaking to walking along the sidewalk that follows the beach, there were many ways to be active. KBH is a few minutes away from several beaches and a tidal area perfect for exploration. KPT is a short drive away - great restaurants and shopping. Convening at the fire pit in the backyard after a busy day in Maine brought us together to share our adventures. We have been returning to KBH for the last 10+ years.

About the host
Hosted by Patrick Jones
We are a family of six who love the Kennebunks. We have owned a second home in Kennebunk since 2004, purchasing this house in this neighborhood, the Kennebunk House, in 2009. The Kennebunk Cottage was purchased in 2017 and the Kennebunk Bungalow in 2018, allowing us to share the experience with even more families. We enjoy sharing our home with people who will appreciate the area and the attention we give to meeting our guests needs. We look to improve our property -- in both large and small ways -- every year to benefit our guests' use and enjoyment of the house.
Why they chose this property
Our original house in Kennebunk, which we loved and enjoyed for about 5 years, was about a mile and a half from the beach. We loved the area and dreamed of some day moving closer to the ocean's edge. In 2009, amidst the financial crisis, we had an opportunity to by the Kennebunk House at a price that made moving close to the beach a reality. The home had been neglected for a few decades, so it required a lot of freshening up, inside and out. We worked hard to accomplish this while maintaining the wonderful charm and character of the home.
