We loved the house and access to the lake. The kitchen was well stocked and there was plenty of room for our family. We spent a lot of time on the lake using the kayaks and paddleboards. I would definitely recommend updating the paddle-boards since both of them were damaged (fins were broken which makes it difficult to control/steer). We really appreciated the fall special and extra time staying in the house.

We really enjoyed this wonderful lakefront home. The dock is amazing, and we spent plenty of time there. The house is spacious and has more than enough room for our group of 11. The cove is also wonderfully calm and quiet for swimming and convenient to kayak to Edwards Beach.

Summer Vacation

Awesome propety in a nice cove. Boat house was perfect. Boat ramp was a bonus. Family enjoyed the stay. Would book again next year. Communication with the property manager was excellent!

The Perfect house!

We had an Amazing time on our annual girls lake trip. The house was spacious with comfortable beds, plenty of bathrooms, beautiful sun rooms & the Best dock ever! We can't wait to come back again!

Perfect and Peaceful!

The property was really nice. Plenty of room and lots of activities provided. My family and I enjoyed our visit and had a great time. Sharon was very responsive to the 1 issue we had and it was corrected immediately!

The pictures do not do this house justice. There is so much living space that nobody ever felt like they were on top of each other. It was very clean and welcoming the hostesses thought of everything from packing place in the closet to a very well stocked kitchen. There was a ton of parking in the back dock with a blast. The family spent so much time out on the dock playing in the lake. Can’t rave enough about this place. Our family could tell it was a labor of love.

Fun at Lake Joy

We had an awesome time enjoying the lake and the house. The house looks very deceiving when it comes to the size. From the outside it appears smaller than it really is. It’s huge and plenty of space for multi family’s and very beautiful! We had a great time and would go back again. They have multiple kayaks for water activities and a nice huge dock to swim and fish at. We enjoyed it very much!

Perfect Lake Getaway

We absolutely love this Lake Gaston home and just wrapped up our third summer here! The house is always clean, comfortable, and has everything we need for a fun and relaxing stay. We spent our days swimming, fishing off the dock, and soaking in the peaceful lake vibes.One of the best perks is the bar and refrigerator down by the dock- it’s such a thoughtful touch that makes it easy to grab drinks and snacks without ever leaving the water. The host is always responsive and easy to communicate with, which makes the whole experience even better.This home has become a yearly tradition for us, and we’re already looking forward to coming back next summer!

All I can say is: This is the Perfect family vacation home!!!! This house has plenty of room, so my family of 9 adults and 3 kids were super comfortable! Has plenty of board games, cornhole, kayaks, paddle board, etc so you can relax and enjoy indoors and outdoors. I would mention that the only downside is that there is no pantry space, or closets available in the rooms (plan accordingly). So we had to figure out a way to storage our food without it being all over the place and in the middle of everything. But other than that the house is great and Sharon is an amazing host, she is quick to reply. We’ll be staying here again!!!

4th year in a row!

This was our family's fourth year staying in Sharon's house, which should tell you how much we love it. We love that it is so well stocked-from kitchen items to outdoor lake toys (paddle boards, kayaks, etc). We never leave the whole time we are at the house because there's so much to do right there! Be aware that you'll need to provide your own toilet paper, paper towels, etc as there are only 1-2 rolls provided. Thanks again, Sharon!

Second time,and just as good as the first!

We stayed here in 2021 and fell in love with the home for our multi-family vacation; so when it was time to book Lake Gaston again we knew where we wanted to stay. They have a new deck that we enjoyed and spent many long days on. We had 3 families and still felt like we had more than enough of space. Three refrigerators which came in handy for our large party! One of which was at the dock. It helped having drinks at your fingertips and not having to go inside. There are plenty of small touches in the home that make the vacation perfect! I would recommend this house to anyone!

Anniversary Celebration

Overall the property was exactly as advertised. We enjoyed our stay. The decor was cute and the furnishings were comfortable. The kitchen was nicely stocked with utensils, dishes, etc. There are just a few minor issues that we encountered… 1. The step leading down from the dining room to the kitchen is a hazard. The step is painted the same color as the kitchen floor and is extremely hard to see. I would recommend putting tread strips on it or painting it a darker color. 2. The linens (towels specifically) smelled of cigarette smoke. We corrected this issue by easily washing the towels but if this is a service you pay for, I thought you may want to know. 3. Would recommend you replace your bed pillows as they were all very flat. Also, would have been nice to have a closet accessible in the bedrooms (there was one bedroom with closet access but it was so packed you couldn’t even hang any clothes in it). Thanks!

Good layout but dirty and aged home

Overall the layout of the house was good for larger families but when we arrived we were less than impressed with the overall condition of the house. House was dirty with spider webs all over the outside of home. Inside had a lot of dust and just wasn’t up to the cleanliness we have experienced with other homes on VRBO. Dock was great and was brand new. Great overall except the only place to put your boat was on the side as they don’t allow you to dock your boat in one of the slips. No cleats were provided and biggest issue is there is no lighting at the dock at all. Very disappointed especially if you go out for an evening boat ride. Have to come back to a completely dark dock. Inside of the house had a good layout for larger family’s. The surprising thing is that they didn’t provide enough of what you needed for your stay. We were only provided 7 towels (2 per bathroom except one upstairs that was shared with two bedrooms that one they only provided one towel). Surprising because we told them how many we were bringing because the homeowner made sure to tell us the maximum amount allowed to stay in the house was 13. Also dishes and utensils were not enough for the number of people staying, 8 bowels and 10 plates for a home that could house 13??? Also a lot of the cabinets in the bathrooms are very shed and paint is chipping or peeling! But by far the worse thing about the house was the hvac systems. We went in the beginning of fall when temps were not over 84 and the house never seemed to cool down. You arrive and unload you cars and the house is set at 80. House takes forever to cool down (if it actually does). Would NOT rent this house just because of this as we do not want to be sweating during our sleep. Can’t imagine how hard it was for renters during the summer!! Overall good layout and great dock but not up to the standards for what I would expect for this price point especially for quality of the house and the cleanliness!

Hello Shawn, Thank you for your review, I agree the layout is awesome for families and the brand new dock is great. Thank you!. Our goal is to provide every guest a great experience. Prior guests have all given us 5 stars. I did want to address a few items. You mentioned the HVAC system. It is operating perfectly. I was in the house the day before, and it was at 80 when I arrived, and within an hour or so, was very comfortable, actually cool. We have not had any issues with guests in the heat of the summer, or guests after your stay. But if the HVAC system did have a temporary issue during your stay, we would have addressed it immediately as we have HVAC service on call. As we say in our messages to you, if you have any questions or issues, please let us know. Regarding cleanliness. The day before your arrival, we had the house professionally deep cleaned for our new pictures on VRBO. It was in mint shape, as the pictures show, and the pre-arrival video we take shows the same. In addition, I personally wiped down all the spider webs as I was there to do the final inspection prior to photography. (Spiders build back up quickly on a lake.) You did mention 13 guests in your review. Our Maximum is 12, as we messaged you. "so, I just wanted to remind you that the house accommodates 12 max . . . " You replied "It will be 7 adults and 4 kids, My dad might be coming not sure, if that is the case would be 8 adults" Which would be a total of 12 guests. We did provide towels for all guests. We had bath towels and wash cloths for each guest and a hand towel in each bathroom, with video showing this. There is a chance they got moved by a family member, which has happened. If you would have let us know, we would have directed you to more towels in a closet that we can make available if a guest has a need. There are dishes for at least 12 upstairs in the fully stocked kitchen, as that is what our house capacity is. There is another full set of dishes in the kitchenette downstairs. We have every possible utensil. I am sorry they were difficult to find. Our welcome book on the kitchen island notates the location of the keys to the dock. There are brand new lights on the dock, and it is awesome. We have enjoyed many an evening out there. If you would have let us know that you could not locate this, I would have pointed you in that direction. Per your review, I have highlighted the key location in our messages in case another guest would miss it. Thank you. The dock is brand new, and as we note in our messages, we have very nice dock posts to tie your boat up, and bumpers to protect your boat. Keeping your boat safe and secure is very important to us. I do appreciate you asking about the location of the trash can during your stay, and we let you know where that was in less than 15 minutes. We take being responsive seriously and would have happily responded to any other questions. That is what we do! Shawn, our goal is to open our home away from home for guests to enjoy great family time on the lake. We emphasize our availability, and we have a strong willingness to provide a superior experience. This is a wonderful house to visit and we look forward to hosting others.

Wonderful family getaway

We had such a great time at our first trip to Lake Gaston. What a hidden gem. The house is laid out perfectly for several families with three bed/bath suites. All of the upgrades the owners have done are beautiful, including the two 2-story boat dock. We weren't able to enjoy the water activities because we travelled in November, but still enjoyed the beautiful lake view and an evening fire. The owners were gracious hosts with all of the comforts of home available to the renters.

Another great stay!

This is our third year at this lake house with family and it was fantastic once again. Such a relaxing area, a beautiful new deck (great for serving lunch while playing in the lake), and includes all of the water toys (kayaks/paddleboards/lily pads), making it fun for the whole family! We entertained ages 2-72 and everyone had a great time! Thanks for letting us use your house again, Sharon!

Very enjoyable and relaxing week. House exceeded all expectations. Owners were wonderful. View and being on the lake was great. House does have a lot of steps. The downstairs is a plus with its bedrooms and living room/kitchen. We had a private chef cook out back and it was wonderful. Walk to double decker boathouse is awesome. Great property!

Lake Joy was a Joy!

My entire family stayed at the property for a week and we had a blast! There were plenty of places to go to have a private conversation or to read a book and it never felt like we were on top of each other. We loved playing corn hole, paddle boarding and enjoying the dock and Lily Pad. We would definitely recommend this property.
