Lots of deck space right on the water. Comfortable, roomie inside for whole family to enjoy. We had a wonderful stay on the lake - look forward to coming again!
We needed a place to stay for few days while we were in town. This cute little house was perfect. The hosts were awesome and communication was great we actually checked out a little late with no issues and couldn’t have been happier !! Definitely would stay again in the future
Property was perfect! We traveled for a family weekend for football at Colgate and loved the house! Sunrise and sunset did not disappoint!! Kim was an amazing communicator! Highly recommend!
We were impressed with the property's location. It is just as described. The owner was very thoughtful with having treats available for us. We had an amazing time and look forward to coming again in the near future. We highly recommend this place. The views are incredible!
Our family had an amazing time at DeRuyter lake house. The house is airy, bright and very functional. The dock/deck is beautiful right on the water. The beds are so comfortable. Kim was always available, attentive and helpful. Terrific weekend! we would come back!!
Overall this property was good. Check in and out was easy and communication with the property manager was great. One big downside was the amount of webs and spiders inside the residence and dead gnats on the countertops that had been accumulating over time. Some of the areas the webs are are extremely high. Not a huge deal, we cleaned what we could reach and still had a blast. We took our 21' pontoon boat and used the dock. The dock was serviceable for our needs but def could use some attention. Lake views were gorgeous. All in all we would stay here again!
We had a great Time and enjoyed the place on the water.
What caught my eyes was the fact that this place was right on the reservoir and we are able to use the dock as our own personal place to swim and enjoy ourselves. The property was well maintained and the owner was very pleasant to connect with back and forth. It was very quite there , no noise from other houses or people. We were within driving distance of all kinds of places. The internet speeds were very good. I have 3 kids and of course everyone was on the network and the speeds were excellent. I did bring my own Apple TVs with me as I have my own streaming sources I like to use while there was down time, but there was smart apps on the TVs. I will definitely be making reservations for next year. Thanks again.

Family weekend
I booked the De Ruyter home as my niece was graduating from Syracuse and several of my siblings wanted to stay together. We had a tremendous time. Kim was a terrific host and answered all our questions quickly.
the house is terrific. It has 2 bedrooms in the main house and a side boat house with a bunk bed. The kitchen has everything you can use. There is one bathroom that is smartly configured to have a separate shower room and toilet room with the sink outside the 2 rooms. There were 5 of us in the house but the one bathroom was never an issue.
The dock is terrific and we spent a lot of time out there. We stayed in early May so the dock extension wasn't yet in the water. there were kayaks to use but we were pretty busy so did not get a chance to use them.
Thanks for a great weekend.

Mouse in the house
We were all so grossed out we left as soon as we could. They need to consider having professional cleaners to ready this property for rental. Views were great, we just couldn’t see it through the veil of cobwebs and spiders. The bonus room reeked of mildew. Refrigerator was dirty. Had to buy a mouse trap and set it out, 3 am it sprang shut. Random people showed up on our dock and patio to fish and blast music. Outside vegetation is very overgrown. We had to use fans as there is no AC…owner did buy one new one and the other two were covered in grime. Linens were clean. The bathroom shower situation is very odd and tight. Lots of dusty clutter throughout the house. Not fun when you have to clean every day. We have two families that own property on the lake…they came to visit and were disgusted with what they saw as they knew what it looked like with the previous owner. Shameful.

Response from VrboOwner on 10 July 2024
Hi Mary, we appreciate your feedback, and we are committed to providing an excellent experience for our guests. Here are some insights from the homeowner:
-The house is not equipped with air conditioning, as indicated in the listing. During your stay, the weather was exceptionally hot, with temperatures reaching the mid to high nineties, which unfortunately is beyond our control. We understand this may have been uncomfortable, and we had fans available in the house to help mitigate the heat.
-Given the house's location directly on the water, it is naturally subject to insects. While we do treat the property to manage them, complete control over nature is not feasible.
-We acknowledge your report of a mouse, which is the first of its kind. Despite our efforts to maintain cleanliness, this issue has since been addressed and resolved.
-The interior and exterior of the house, especially the lakeside which spans three stories, are cleaned thoroughly within reasonable reach. We strive to prepare a clean and pleasant environment for all our guests before each rental.
We strive to ensure that every guest enjoys the best possible stay, and we eagerly anticipate hosting many more satisfied guests at this property, as evidenced by our other reviews.
Nice, clean comfortable property. quiet and relaxing. DeRuyter lake is a good swimming and fishing lake. Enough kayaks for the four of us. Lots of amenities. Highly recommended.
Our stay was great. The house is very well equipped with anything that you would need. The house is right on the lake and has a charming rustic quality about it. Can’t wait to come back. My mother in law and husband spent many summer days on DeRuyter lake and now we have great memories of the lake too.
You cannot beat this location.....RIGHT on the lake !! And Kim responded to any/every request immediately. We had a great time.

Totally enjoyed our stay
From the owner checking in with us to a very clean home and the gorgeous view we were awestruck from the beginning. Would highly recommend this to anyone.
My wife and I stayed at this property for a 2-night stay on a recent frigid cold weekend in January. Our hosts were so nice and accommodating, answering all questions and stocking the house with coffee, snacks, and some wine of our choosing. We had a delightful experience. Without a doubt it is all about the view and the house’s design to accentuate it. We were there when the lake was frozen and snowy, and I can only imagine how wonderful the view must be in the summer, but the winter view had a majesty of its own. The house is furnished and decorated nicely with special touches and comfy blankets. The living room with its full wall of windows provided an amazing view, as well as the 2 bedrooms situated at the corner of the house. The main room and kitchen felt so spacious because of the tall ceilings, and we enjoyed watching some shows on the giant wall mounted TV while having the fireplace on and kitchen close by to grab a quick bite now and then. The heat was uneven but was manageable with just my wife and I, although if you had people staying in both bedrooms at the same time there might be an issue to find common ground. All the good totally outweighs any of the quirky aspects of the house including an odd bathroom setup, some cracks in the walls and slightly slanted floors in areas. On the outside, you park your car right off the road by the doorway so unloading your bags is extremely easy and efficient. The separate structure with another bedroom was not open in the winter so I can’t comment on that, but as I noted this place must be great for a summer stay.
Fantastic experience. It was exactly what I was looking for. Great Host!!!

Relaxing Waterfront Stay
My family and I really enjoyed our stay on DeRuyter Reservoir. The house is beautifully positioned to give a wonderful view of the lake. We had such a relaxing time we barely left the house except for walks around the reservoir and a hike in the nearby state park.
I loved waking up to the sunrise while having my morning coffee and the soft sounds of the lake as I fell asleep at night.
My nephew did plenty of fishing and we used the kayaks and paddleboat throughout the visit.
I plan on visiting again.
