Great Location, Condo Needs Work

We made the most of our stay at Maui Sunset in Kihei, largely due to its excellent location and breathtaking views. Easy access to the beach and neighboring park made daily activities convenient and enjoyable. Parking was consistently easy, simplifying our trips in and out. We especially appreciated the beach essentials provided by the condo, such as towels, chairs, umbrellas, and sand toys, which significantly enhanced our family’s beach experiences. Additionally, the large television and quality sound bar were great for winding down with family movie nights.Property management demonstrated impressive responsiveness when we encountered an issue immediately upon arrival. A malfunctioning toilet valve was promptly and efficiently replaced, reflecting attentive customer service.Despite these positive points, the condition of the condo itself did not meet our expectations. The unit appeared noticeably worn, requiring considerable cosmetic repairs and updates. Issues included poorly matched paint patches on walls and doors, a missing curtain in the master bedroom with clearly visible unpainted spackle repairs, and bathrooms with deteriorating grout and caulk lines. The kitchen backsplash was partially painted in mismatched colors, adding to the unkempt appearance.Cleanliness was also below acceptable standards. Dust accumulation was evident in several areas throughout the condo, indicating inadequate cleaning practices. Carpets in the living room showed noticeable stains, and pillow covers were ill-fitting, exposing parts of the pillows themselves.Overall, while the fantastic location, provided amenities, and responsive property management were highlights of our stay, the condo’s state of maintenance and cleanliness significantly detracted from our experience. We would happily return to Maui Sunset but would prefer selecting a different, better-maintained unit next time.
