Beautiful house.

Kitchens were very well stocked. I didn’t realize how far to the lake it was nor how many stairs there were. Didn’t work for some of our family.

Response from VrboOwner on 2 April 2020
It was a delight to have your family stay at our chalet. We are so sorry the stair system was not adequate for some of your family. We built the stair system to be as safe and comfortable as possible with just a few steps in between landings. We do have a more relaxed path down to the lake for those who have problems with stairs. I wish we would have known that some of your group had mobility restrictions we would have let you know.. Thank you for letting us know, will be making sure our future guests know there is a stair system down to the lake front. Thank you for the nice note your group left in our guest book. Nice view and comfortable arrangements

We had 9 adults in our group; 3 couples and 3 singles. We stayed in the lower unit. It was clean and welcoming upon arrival, although there was an slight odor. The views are amazing and relaxing. There were fishing poles to fish in the lake. Overall nice stay.

Response from VrboOwner on 8 August 2021
It was nice having you as guests .. We all work hard to sterilize and make the house nice and fresh .. none of us smelled any odor before or after you left . So not sure what you were smelling? . As always we open windows to air out and spray Room freshener around for a nice fresh smell in between guests. You are the only guests to ever say this . You described the oder as stinky socks ? You arrived after traveling all day , possibly one of your group had sticky socks? There were no sticky socks when you arrived. We normally don’t host one night rentals but made an exception for your family for your special occasion. We found you stained the sheeted with large drops of some type of oily substance which took quite a bit of work for stain removal. We normally charge for stained sheets yet let it go , and I didn’t mention it in your review.. I’m glad you had a nice stay and said how clean it was.

The Ultimate Alaskan Escape

God truly looked out for us when we booked here. We decided 2 years ago that Alaska is where we want to raise a family, so when the opportunity came, we packed everything and moved up here. We have never visited the state, and we have no family here so when first got here it was stressful in a new environment and the Mcann's have been a true blessing. They went above and beyond for us with everything from recommendations for food, fun places to visit, and amazing trails, right in your backyard. There are tons of fun toys on the property like sleds, ice skates, skis, and hiking sticks. We were concerned we wouldn't be able to use the lake, considering it was frozen, but the Mcanns took us out and taught us how to ice fish, which was great fun. We got to see moose, rabbits, and an array of beautiful birds, not to mention the gorgeous Northern Lights behind absolutely breathtaking mountain views! The Chalet is a once in a lifetime stay, and the Mcann's are now once in a lifetime friends. We hope to return soon, have to see those mountains in the summer.

Family vacation

Vacation of a life time. We needed a place to be able to relax and enjoy the family. This rental was a wonderful place. The lake was so peaceful and enjoying. There were enough knee boards, kayaks and canoes for all the kids. It is quite a walk down the hill but the steps made it a little easier on the ankles. The mornings on the deck drinking coffee was peaceful and quiet. We had morning visitors - rabbits. Geri was able to give us some ideas and places to visit while rental her place. Thanks Geri. HIghly recommended.

Stunning home with lovely views from large balcony that overlooks the lake

If you want a quintessential Alaskan experience, this is the place to be! My extended family came from all over the US and abroad for my daughter‘s wedding. We rented both units and the house very comfortably slept 15 people and could easily have slept several more. The decor inside was lovely and outside the colorful flowers were abundant. We enjoyed fishing and swimming in the lake. We spent hours just enjoying one another’s company on the large deck that overlooks Canoe Lake and the mountains beyond. Gerri was just a text away if we had any questions or needed anything. I can’t say enough about how canoe lake chalet was THE PERFECT SETTING for our family reunion!
Response from VrboOwner on 2 April 2020

Awesome get away

Great location right by the lake but above the lake enough so that the bugs are not and issue. The house is well stocked with almost everything you need and Geri was super helpful with any needs we had. They have boats and toys down at the lake which make it a fun stay.

Our vacation of a lifetime!

We came to Alaska to create life time memories and this Chalet was our home away from home that we were delighted to come home to every evening. It offered every amenity we could have asked for, spacious living, comfortable beds, privacy, laundry facilities, fully stocked kitchen, and our own private lake with amazing views. We highly recommend you chose this rental during your stay in Alaska. We were within driving distance to several sites and tours including Talkeetna, Mt Denali. train ride and glacier viewing. Geri was very helpful with recommendations. It was our dream vacation and the week we stayed was perfect ....just perfect! The Huskers From Nebraska

Great place to stay! Beautiful views and wonderful access to the lake. AWSOME

The Bears Den was a warm and cozy place to stay. Full kitchen came in handy for those eat-in meals. The back patio overlooking the lake was spectacular. I loved this place and all it offered us. It is close to town while you feel like you are in the middle of a park. Enjoyed our time here and really relaxed in a quiet and secluded home.

Fantastic location and even better house to stay in!

Our family of six had no problem being comfortable in this wonderful location. The owner was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about things to do in the region. She also made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. In this well-stocked house, we not only had all the basics needed but bicycles fishing rods and multiple types of boats… it was very hard for us to leave. We certainly hope to return again someday. The lake was peaceful and did I say it was full of trout? My seven-year-old had no problem reeling them in.

John's family with 4 kids were delightful and had a great time at our property. They enjoyed playing and fishing on the lake with boats and lake toys, they had camp fires, played lawn games and and explored the surrounding area's attractions. They did great fishing on the lake for trout and local rivers catching salmon!! They abided by all house rules and left the house so nice and clean. We really enjoyed assisting them with vacation plans and getting to know them. They really touched our hearts!! It is wonderful to when our guests enjoy the lake and chalet like they did. We hope they return. Geri McCann Canoe Lake Chalet - Where the fun begins!

Fantastic

Great convenient location but feels like you are secluded on a lake side retreat. Beautiful views of the lake and mountains. Everything you could possibly need is provided and the owners are a phone call away. The owners are very nice and responsive. The decor is adorable, very Alaskan get away themed. Would definitely recommend this rental
