Our spacious, well-appointed and secluded three bedroom chalet-style cottage offers an ideal relaxing getaway with a stunning view across the Southwest River in the picturesque fishing village of New London, 10 minutes from Cavendish National Park.
Our one-acre property boasts over 150 feet of south facing shoreline on the tidal Southwest River just a short distance from the mouth of the ocean.

The cottage itself is set back on a slope nestled among mature trees on each side affording our guests full privacy while still providing a gorgeous view of the river and valley from the living room, bedrooms and each of three large decks.

Our property has a 30 ft patio for lounging or eating. Guests have full access to our two sea kayaks. The front of the cottage faces to the South and as a result the property, deck and dock are blanketed with sunshine most of the day.

The cottage features comfortable furnishings and reclaimed pine flooring throughout — all carefully chosen to reflect a warm and inviting cottage ambiance. All new major kitchen appliances were installed in 2021.

We have new, high quality mattresses topped with quality cotton linens and summer-weight feather duvets, and have both bath and beach towels in good supply. Our bathroom is spacious and the claw foot tub is perfect for taking a leisurely soak at the end of the day but also boasts a wall mounted nozzle for showering.

We have outside lounge chairs and a picnic table for outdoor relaxation and dining as well as an outdoor shower to rinse off after a day at the beach. The cottage is equipped with a washer/dryer for guests' use as well as a Smart TV connected to high speed internet, DVD player and of course a BBQ for outdoor cooking.

Location is central to many north shore attractions including golf, beaches, lobster dinners, and deep sea fishing.

We had an amazing stay, the cottage is lovely, the views are amazing as were the Eagles right outside the window. There was anything you could need and then some. Parking was good and it was easy to find.The hosts were very nice and quick to respond to any queries, the place was clean and tidy.Would 100% recommend to stay here you won't be disappointed.

Lovely property, kind host, and breathtaking views, but…dead and alive large carpenters ants everywhere on the floor, bugs trapped in the bedroom ceiling lighting fixtures, and daily construction noise from the neighbour starting 830am hampered enjoyment. Recommended, just adjust your expectations accordingly.

The property is superbly situated, being 10 minutes away from Cavendish Beach, 10 minutes from Kensington, 25 minutes way from Summerside and 40 minutes away from Charlottetown. We used it as our base to easily visit both East and West PEI. Yet, it really feels "cottagey", being tucked from the main road via a small dirt alley connecting with other cottages. It is right besides the water, the view is excellent yet makes you feel almost as you are in the woods. The eagle's nest right in front is also a bonus! The amenities are wonderful. The cottage is, especially the main floor, is very spacious and fully stocked with everything you might need, from complete appliances to pots and pans, laundry detergent, games, beach towels, a guitar, board games, movies, binoculars (to see the eagle!), kayaks, a paddleboard, an outdoor shower, small fans for the rooms, etc.The only lesser point I would say is the bathroom facilities downstairs might need an upgrade, as the bathtub/shower curtain combo is tricky and not the best for a good shower at the end of a hot day, and it became extremely hot and humid in the bathroom and downstairs after our family members all took their showers (with a lot of the counters and floors made of wood, I can see this coming an issue later down the road without a dehumidifier). A very enjoyable 4-night stay if you plan on staying in central PEI! (Try the Sou' West restaurant only 3 minutes away, it's great!)

Fantastic Spot for a Vacation

Highview was a perfect spot for our family. Close to many beaches and attractions. The house was very well kept had just the right things to make our stay comfortable. We were able to take a kayak ride and see the eagle on our last day. Would highly recommend.

We are originally from Montreal and Toronto, but call Calgary, Alberta home now. We rented on the island in 2015, and fell in love with the place. After a bit of searching, we found this little bit of paradise on the South West river....

Why they chose this property

The three level deck has south facing exposure, direct water access from the property. It is near everything: golf, Cavendish, Kensington, beaches, seafood, deep sea fishing etc. Yet, when you get there, it's like you are all alone.
