About this property
Superb Villa with Stunning Mountain and Valley Views
Casa Mariposa is a beautiful, south facing villa set on a hillside amongst fragrant pine trees above the charming village of Alcalali. It is located on the edge of a peaceful residential area with both sunny and shaded, fully private outside terraces affording breathtaking views of the green Jalon Valley, across vineyards, almond orchards and orange groves, all framed by the majestic mountains in the distance. No photos can really capture the spendour.
The covered naya, or terrace, provides the perfect vantage point to unwind over a meal al fresco or simply soak in the ambiance. From this elevated vantage point, you can gaze across the secluded pool to the valley, enveloped in a tranquil atmosphere where the shifting light paints mesmerizing patterns on the distant mountains - and all this with no overlooking properties or prying eyes to interrupt your tranquility.
The Jalon Valley is renowned for its many excellent restaurants, with some conveniently located within walking distance.
Tastefully furnished, there is a comfortable open plan living/dining room and a well-equipped kitchen, plus internet access. Within the main house are two very spacious bedrooms, both with A/C. The master bedroom comes with an en-suite shower room while the twin has its own private balcony and a family bathroom. The third double bedroom, with A/C and en-suite shower room is in a separate annex directly beneath the main villa, accessed from a garden terrace. The villa can be rented as a 2 or 3 bedroom villa and is ideal for groups wanting a little more privacy. Note that the third bedroom will never be used by another group during your stay.
There is parking for 2 cars, one space at the main entrance gate below the pool and one car port above the villa.
We believe we've created a warm and welcoming home from home and the fact that most guests find it hard to tear themselves away or eagerly anticipate their return, speaks for itself.
IMPORTANT
Please note under new Spanish Law (Valencian Community, Decree-Law 9/2024), there is a maximum stay limit of 10 consecutive days for tourist accommodations. Additional notes:
- The published prices are for rental of the 2-bedroom villa (i.e. using the main house for 4 people). If the third bedroom is required i.e. for 6 people, there is a modest surcharge of GBP 100 per week to cover additional cleaning and laundry.
- The third bedroom is not available from the beginning of November to the beginning of April.
- I am living in Singapore and so, please allow some delay in any response to queries due to the time difference.

About the host
Hosted by David Landau
Hello, my name is David. I am British and am the proud owner of the very beautiful Casa Mariposa. I have lived overseas for many years and currently reside in Singapore. Having travelled extensively, I understand the importance of a comfortable and welcoming holiday home.
Over the years, my family and I have stayed in many different holiday homes in many different countries and for our property, we wanted to provide something that really worked - both for us and for our visitors.
We believe we've found the perfect spot and created a welcoming haven. If you choose to stay there, we hope you will very much enjoy your stay. We always enjoy visiting the villa ourselves and the feedback from guests speaks volumes.

Why they chose this property
I bought Casa Mariposa early in 2005. Despite visiting other areas of Spain I always found myself drawn back to the valley and after a whole year of searching, I finally found what I was looking for. I love the location - quiet and very private yet not isolated and, of course, the wonderful views across the valley. I can't imagine how many hours I've spent on the naya just watching the light changing throughout the day!
I love the late afternoon and evening when the low light creates the most magical glow on the many white-painted farmhouses and the villages below us. Furnishing the house from a range of local shops, was a real pleasure. I wanted to provide comfort and simplicity but with a homely feel too. and believe that has been achieved.

What makes this property unique
The villa and valley has everything needed to make a great family holiday. There's plenty in the region to keep everyone entertained. Then afterwards, nothing beats returning to the peace and tranquility of the the villa and dinner on the naya or maybe a local restaurant.
Then, of course, there are the hours we've spent lazing in the pool on a hot summer afternoon. Having young children of our own when first bought, we installed gates around the pool terrace to give parents of young children peace of mind so youngsters can play away from the pool. I've tried to equip it with everything you should need and am often complimented on this. In Casa Mariposa, I really feel I've found somewhere special - it's always hard to leave and we have many returning guests who have fallen in love with it too.
