Given we are still under Covid guidance this cottage had not been cleaned to any where near a high enough standard. No tea /coffee/ milk provided on arrival. Smoke alarm missing in the bedroom. No kindling to light fire . Looks a bit tired we will not be going back . The bell pub was excellent, food good landlord/landlady very friendly. Would stay there if ever in the area again.

The house is provided with two smoke alarms: one in the kitchen and one at the foot of the bedroom stairs. There is also a carbon monoxide alarm.
Covid guidelines are used when cleaning the property , all relevant surfaces are disinfected. We confess that old Victorian cottages contain nooks and crannies that might sometimes harbour dust despite our best efforts. .
As a fully self catering property guests provide their own foodstuffs. In that way nothing is provided that might be wasted because of people's allergies (cows milk for example)

Disappointing
We were very disappointed with our stay between Christmas and new year
the positives were it was warm, comfortable bed and seating, the Christmas decorations were a nice touch, the cooking facilities were very good.Plus The area is lovely lots of great walks
Te negatives however in order of importance to us were =
No where to unload when you arrived had to park in an extremely dangerous place to be able to get anywhere near the cottage and almost impossible to find in the dark.
Extremely limited on street parking having to park your car quiet a long way off.
Whole place was quiet grubby we had to clean the oven before using it.
Kitchen cupboard stacked full of unnecessary stuff so no space for putting your food.
No light in the garden so letting the dog out at night was dangerous as there are steps.
We didn't feel that the information provided explained well enough how steep the first set of stairs were (and we are both very able bodied)
or that the bathroom had a very small shower unit and was downs stairs off the kitchen.
The road noise is loud especially on bin day
Not sure if Home Away insist on PAT testing but no sign of any stickers on the electrical equipment - Plus lots of hanging wires and extensions leads around the place.
We hire 4 cottages a year all over the country and have done so for 4 or 5 years now using various companies and this was the most disappointing we have stayed in.

Many people enjoy the cottage every year , and testify to a wonderful holiday in our visitors' book. Some are regular visitors. So we are very sad to learn that someone did not enjoy their holiday.
In fairness to our sweet little cottage, it is old, and therefore not as convenient as a modern house with parking outside. However it makes it up admirably with its charm.
Some things in this review are not correct(outside lighting is abundant) etc.

Lovely!
Fabulous cosy little cottage, everything there that you may possibly require, a lovely touch was the note left, biscuits & a pint of fresh milk upon arrival, perfect location, lovely food & staff at the Bell just a few steps away.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
