With huge windows, 10-foot ceilings and a simple but sparkling interior, my home's all yours and it offers the perfect London base. Portobello market is around the corner, it's a 15-minute walk to Kensington Gardens, and Ladbroke Grove tube station is 150 metres away.
The apartment is spacious, bright and recently modernised and occupies the entire first floor of a large Victorian house (i.e. the second floor in US-speak - one up from ground level). One bedroom is bigger than the other, but both have double beds, and the large reception room (5 x 5 metres) is a lovely place to hang out.
It looks out onto lime, plane and ash trees, while large sash windows and French doors keep all the rooms flooded with light during the day. The oak floor has recently been renovated. Rugs, cushions and sofas make things comfy, and cast-iron radiators will keep you warm as toast.
All the kitchen appliances are new (fridge/freezer, microwave, hob, dishwasher, and washer-dryer), as is the bathroom, where you have the choice of either a tub or power-shower.
The flat backs onto the Westway, an overpass through central London. Acoustic glass keeps the noise to a minimum, but it's never totally silent, and light sleepers might want to look elsewhere. The flat is non-smoking, but there's a sizeable roof terrace (about 120 square feet) where you're welcome to light up at your leisure.
You'll have fresh linen, towels and basic toiletries, a hairdryer, a clothes iron, socket adapters for US and European plugs, and all the standard kitchen stuff you'd expect, including kettle, toaster and cooking staples. There's a large-screen (40-inch) TV with Freeview, Netflix and Amazon Prime, and the 350Mb wi-fi internet connection is both fast and reliable.
If you need help with anything during your stay, I'll be nearby.
Although I've specified 11 am as a check-out time, that's only to avoid problems if I have people arriving and leaving on the same day. I'll ordinarily be happy for you to leave your luggage at the flat, or to hang around until later in the day. Similarly, I'll do my best to accommodate an early check-in.
If you're interested, I'd appreciate some details about your own circumstances and reasons for visiting London. Thanks!
