About this property
Villa With Private Pool In The Heart Of The Chianti Region
San Piero Terre is a south-facing stone farmhouse that has been a family holiday villa for two generations. Decorated to high standards in Italian country style, the villa has a pleasant garden featuring one of the oldest oak trees in the area and is surrounded by vineyards. The property is set in 1hectar grounds with electric gate. Different outdoor sitting areas allow guests to relax al fresco while young kids have fun in the 14x5m pool, on the 5-a-side football pitch or playing ping pong. Enjoy Italian lifestyle in the spacious living rooms, lovely bedrooms with high ceilings and in the large family kitchen. The villa is 400 sqm.
There are several seating areas indoors and outdoors including a large downstairs living room and a drawing room upstairs.
The property has six bedrooms which are located at each side of the upstairs drawing room. On the East side: bedroom 2 ( double with ensuite shower room), bedroom 3 ( twin) and bedroom 4 ( double) share a large family bathrooom. On the West side: bedroom 1 ( double with en suite bathroom); Bedroom 5 ( twin + 1 small divan bed) and bedroom 6 ( double) share a bathroom with walk-in shower). You can view all the bedrooms in our photo album.
We don't have air conditioning but we provide fans in all the bedrooms. The villa has thick walls. By shutting windows during the hottest hours of the day the bedrooms mantain a very comfortable temperature.

About the host
Hosted by Ilaria Lais

San Piero Terre offers the most authentic Italian family holiday experience. We love this 100 years old farm and we have made it as homely and comforting as possible.
The house was built at the beginning of last century by the Ricasoli family, the largest landowners in Chianti, for the farmers who worked their land.
The large paved area between the house and the barn was the farmyard and you can still see the ancient bread oven at the entrance of the house. We were keen for it to have the flavour of a Tuscan house so we decorated in a traditional countryside style.

Why they chose this property
We have enjoyed great time here and the garden and villa are the backdrop of very fond family memories bathed in the special golden evening light that is so peculiar to this area of Italy.
The house has thick walls that keep it fresh in the summer, and in the afternoon a pleasant breeze and the shade of the huge oak tree offer a respite from the Italian summer. The water of the swimming pool comes from a nearby well so it's also always nice and cool.
Perfect for large groups, the villa will comfortably accommodate two or even three families with children, and there is always a quiet spot for everyone to relax.
We start our day with a nice breakfast in the kitchen and often walk to Gaiole for a further coffee in one of the several cafes followed by some shopping. The Macelleria Chini is a nationwide renowned butcher that sells unique pork meat, hams and sausages. Fresh vegetables can be found at the Coop and Lo Sfizio is an excellent patisserie. You can taste and buy great Chianti wines directly from the best local producers.
Back home, we always have lunch and dinner outside: bruschetta roasted on the open fire in the kitchen or on the Weber BBQ is a regular feature but you can always book a chef to cook a special meal.
Even after almost fifty years holidaying here, we never tire of exploring surroundings: castles and wineries, local restaurants, pictoresque villages, cities full of art and also designer outlets.

What makes this property unique
All of Tuscany is beautiful, however Gaiole in Chianti is right at the heart of the Chianti region and has even been indicated by Forbes as the most Idyllic places in Europe.
