Overlooking the cricket green & next to many miles of protected heathland, forest & fresh air in the Surrey Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Only 15 mins' drive from Guildford & 35 mins' train ride from London - the perfect property for families, dog walkers & those wanting a country escape!

This traditional country house, built by the Edwardian architect Harrison-Townsend, is located in 163 sq miles of protected heathland and forest across the Surrey Hills & borders the picturesque Blackheath Cricket Club.

This house sleeps up to 9 people with 4 bedrooms (all with double beds or larger) and 3 bathrooms upstairs.

The Chalon Kitchen is fully-equipped & features a red pillarbox 4-oven Aga, Utility Room & an adjoining Conservatory with views of the garden and cricket pitch. Enjoy a movie night in the Living Room with its open fireplace & 55" Smart TV or the Snug room, both have Sky and Netflix. The house stays warm in the winter with radiators and wood burning stoves but remains cool in the summer.

Entertain guests in the Dining Room with its impressive open fireplace or try al fresco dining or the giant Green Egg BBQ in warmer weather on the garden patio under the retractable awning. There is a Sonos music system with in-ceiling speakers in 4 zones around the house, including the garden patio.

In the garden, you can enjoy nature with our stunningly beautiful flowerbeds in Spring, Summer and Autumn. Tucked away, you are welcome to use our Candian Spa hot tub (the water is changed weekly and before your arrival).

No Parties, Events or loud music after 11pm outside to be held at the House. No marquees.

Best in 20 years.

We've been renting from VRBO for over 20 years here in the U.S. and Europe. This home and it's owner Shelley provided the finest experience of all the properties we've ever stayed at. A quick 10-15 minutes to the Guildford train station which takes you into London. The home is quiet at night, we never heard a sound in our 2 weeks, which makes for a restful sleep. Location is in a gorgeous, green area and the house garden is bursting with flowers. House interior offered every amenity we needed along with a few edible surprises! Beds were very comfortable. We'll be back. Worth the price for the best vacation. Ron

Peaceful and practical

Idyllic location. Spacious family home with space for us to work from home, have family stay at the weekend and have 2 children and their nanny have plenty of space. Beautiful gardens, lovely neighbourhood and community.

A perfect holiday hideaway!

The house is situated in a beautiful spot, surrounded with very well maintained gardens. The cricket ground facing provided matches that entertained all the family. There are many different walks immediately from the house into fantastic heathland. The house is extremely comfy and very well provisioned, our party of 8 could find different places to relax and read or play. Would thoroughly recommend a stay here.

Stunning home, beautiful location, friendly hosts!

I recently stayed here with my husband and two young boys for two weeks. Everything about the place was perfect - the house, the location and the hosts. The house was immaculate and comfortable and fitted out with everything we could possibly need. It is surrounded by lovely gardens and a huge lawn and has a tennis court at the bottom which my husband and son enjoyed using every day. The boys also enjoyed the wonderful swing under the chestnut tree! The location is just gorgeous, tucked away at the far end of Blackheath village on the edge of the common, surrounded by woodland. It is very private and feels a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of Surrey and yet is only 15 minutes from Guildford. Our hosts Shelley and Dave, and Vicky the housekeeper were all very warm and welcoming and helpful and went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and all our needs were met. I would love to return to this wonderful place and wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful, tranquil home from home.

little gem

What a find. A little piece of heaven in the Surrey Hills. Beautiful , peaceful location yet near to great pubs with good food. We were visiting our daughter and family in Weybridge which is a 30 minute drive away. Shelley has thought of everything and what welcoming hosts her and family are. We found lovely villages nearby such as Shere, where we enjoyed a lovely meal one evening at a little restaurant Kinghams. Guildford was a pleasant surprise with its pretty High Street and high end retailers. The lodge itself was comfortable and clean with lovely views of the beautiful garden , our Grandson particularly enjoyed the big swing and the space to run around. I would imagine it would also be a cosy place to stay in winter too with the wood burning stove and logs in plentiful supply. What a gem , we would love to return , thankyou Shelley.

A pretty cottage in a beautiful setting.

From the moment we arrived we felt very welcome. Vicky, the housekeeper, greeted us and then showed us to our accommodation, which was a picturesque cottage, within a beautiful setting. The tennis court at the bottom of the garden was an added bonus for a game on a warm summer's evening. On the table were freshly baked cookies and a welcome hamper with enough provisions to make a tasty breakfast the following morning. Everywhere was clean and tidy with big fluffy towels provided and crisp, white sheets on the beds. If the British summertime was as it normally is, there were plenty of board games supplied for entertainment. We enjoyed our stay very much and would recommend it for a perfect stay in Surrey!

Absolute gem in the heart of the Surrey Hills

We've had a wonderful week in this beautiful cottage. A warm welcome from friendly owners, and the cottage had everything we needed. It has a lovely garden view and we enjoyed playing tennis in the sun. It's a great location for walks into Blackheath forest and beyond onto the North Downs Way and into Guildford. Highly recommended we look forward to coming back soon!

Before Blackheath we lived abroad and visited the U.S. extensively. Prior to this, we are both Londoners - Blackheath offers us beautiful country living but is just a short trip away from London - one of the greatest cities in the world!

Small things such as good quality beds and 100% Egyptian cotton bed linen/ fluffy soft cotton towels make a big difference and sets us apart from many other holiday lets.
