The house is located in the National Historic District of Ocean Grove and is surrounded by nearly a mile of antique Victorian homes. Ocean Grove is a quiet peaceful town and is a quick drive or train ride from Manhattan. A walk around town reveals meticulously maintained Victorian structures and a storybook setting of canvas tents clustered around the majestic antique wooden Great Auditorium. The impressive Auditorium holds worship services, concerts and events and houses a massive antique pipe organ. Ocean Grove has a great lineup of activities throughout the year, including a town-wide flea market, antique car shows and house tours. This home is a quick five-minute walk to the shops, bakeries and restaurants on Main Avenue in Ocean Grove. The beaches of Ocean Grove and Asbury offer great surfing and swimming. (We like to check out the waves from bed in the morning!)
In the mornings we like to open the two front doors and let in the ocean breeze. The porch is the perfect shady spot for morning coffee or a glass of wine in the evening. Hydrangea bloom along the front of the house and the sound of the ocean can be heard inside and out. A stay at our home feels like stepping back into Ocean Grove's early days when families would retreat to the shore away from busy lives.
The home's interior is bright and calm. The first floor has a dining room with antique furniture and a large dining table that seats six or extends to seat eight. The completely renovated kitchen has solid wood cabinets, butcher block counters, an antique farm sink, and open shelving featuring reclaimed wood and subway tile. The clean white refrigerator, gas stove, microwave and dishwasher are new. The kitchen retains its lovely vintage built-in pantry. Washer and dryer are in basement off of the kitchen and there is a half bath on the first floor. Built in shelves hold rainy-day games and collection of art books. The sitting room and living room adjoin and feel like one large open room. The living room boasts views of the water from its large windows and its door opens out onto the porch. There is wireless internet and a television with cable in the sitting room. The living room is a favorite spot for reading, writing postcards and gazing out at the water after a long day at the beach.
Upstairs are the four bedrooms, all furnished with the home's original antique furniture. Each room has its own large closet, dresser and air conditioner. Three bedrooms have full beds and one has two twin beds. The master bedroom has ocean views from the bed and another has views from its two large windows. The full bath is located on this floor. Bath towels, linens and down pillows are provided for each room. (Please bring your own beach towels).
We provide four beach badges for use during your stay. Bikes can be rented from the Ocean Grove Hardware Store on Main Avenue.

We loved the charm of the older home. The view from the home were lovely, especially from the front porch and the one bedroom where you could watch the sun rise over the ocean.
We love a house close to the beach, and appreciated you could see the ocean from the front porch. It had a nice big table for our meals and gaming, with lots of board games and books. The clothes line outside and outdoor shower were nice to have after a day at the beach. The hosts were very easy to talk to and replied right away to any concerns or questions we had. We'd love to come back.

Outstanding
Immaculate home. Kitchen well thought out with exactly what we needed. Comfortable, welcoming feeling when you walk in. Front porch perfect all day. Would LOVE to rent this home again
House is less than a block from the beach and you can listen to the surf from the front porch at night. House is well maintained and comfortable. Only issue is that if you are tall, descending the stairs can be interesting due to the l0w ceilings typical of a 19th century home.
Vacation was great, house is in a great location.
My husband is very tall and the house has low ceilings in certain locations- only negative.

Delightful Christmas in an Ocean Grove Victorian
This charming Ocean Grove Victorian, a one-minute walk from the ocean, was a perfect setting for our Christmas family gathering. We loved being able to jump out of bed and race over to the beach to watch the magnificent sunrise each morning. We loved walking on the beach, so peaceful in the quiet season. We loved the fully-equipped kitchen to cook our breakfasts and dinners in. We loved the cozy comforters on the beds, even better than home! We wouldn't hesitate a second to book this wonderful home again.

Thanks so much Terri. You are your family are welcome any time.
This charming, comfortable home has a porch that draws you to it like a magnet. We loved sitting in the rocking chairs, reading on the cozy couch or watching the sunrise. It's an easy stroll just a half block to the beach and boardwalk. You’re close enough to the water to benefit from ocean breezes and the porch is in shade for most of the day. Beach, restaurants, coffee shop are all in easy walking distance. It was wonderful to be able to park our car and not use it until departure.

A wonderful week by the shore. Amazing location steps from the beach. Enjoyed rocking on the porch with the ocean breeze. We especially loved the big dining room table for game night; the outdoor shower; and the fully stocked kitchen. Highly recommend.

Thanks so much Sally. Sending all the best wishes for the new year.
We always enjoy Ocean Grove and this is our favorite rental. It’s comfortable, clean, charming, quirky, walking distance to OG & Asbury Park shops/restaurants, and 1st beach block. It’s everything you hope for from a Shore rental for a family vacation.

The owners of 6 1/2 Heck Avenue are Jeanne Rondeau and Chris Beach. Alfredo Fresnedo of Remax manages the property for us. We fell in love with Ocean Grove while visiting its Giant Flea Market.
Why they chose this property
Ocean Grove is a quiet and beautiful town. We fell in love our airy antique home when we first stepped inside. The proximity to the ocean, summer cottage feel and quirky rooms enchanted us.
There is nothing better than walking out to the ocean first thing in the morning, or last thing at night. Our family has enjoyed discovering Ocean Grove and the surrounding area and we know you will as well. We are happy to share our home with visitors and we hope 6 1/2 Heck will be a place for memories of your own.
What makes this property unique
We love the home's simple beauty and original details. In the mornings we like to open the two front doors and let in the ocean breeze while our kids play in the front yard. The porch is the perfect shady spot for morning coffee or a glass of wine in the evening. Hydrangea bloom along the front of the house and the sound of the ocean can be heard inside and out. A stay at 6 1/2 Heck feels like stepping back into Ocean Grove's early days when families would retreat to the shore away from busy lives.
