Ideally located to walk in to the medieval centre of Sarlat, stylishly furnished, thoughtfully equipped and private, you will be glad you booked the Monet apartment from the moment you arrive.

Monet is one of four luxury holiday apartments at Maison Pierre D'Or, a traditional stone house on the edge of the medieval centre of Sarlat in the stunning Perigord Noir region of Dordogne in south west France.

Monet is the perfect base from which to explore the town and its surrounding countryside. It's ideal for couples, and is within an easy stroll to the medieval centre.

Sarlat is a busy, vibrant town with lots of tourists in the summer especially. It’s full of activity, especially in August, and if you want the convenience of being in Sarlat and to enjoy the restaurants and markets, medieval buildings and squares, and entertainment, we are perfectly located.

This apartment has a large south facing terrace and a garden view and is surrounded by flowers, oleander, geraniums and jasmine. Attention has been paid to the details. The apartment is furnished to a high standard throughout with oak furniture. There are quirky lamps, paintings by local artists and a host of personal touches giving Monet its own unique character. There is a warm and inviting living room, a large dining table and a well equipped kitchen, including a Nespresso coffee maker. The bedroom has an exceptionally comfortable king size bed with fresh crisp cotton linen and soft pillows. The bathroom has an Italian shower with a powerful shower head, hot water on tap and fluffy towels.

Oh, and there is free parking on site with free WiFi (high speed Internet).

Beautiful accommodation near Sarlat

Lovely place to stay, 15 minute walk into Sarlat with many shops and restaurants. Very friendly hosts, beautiful garden with sweet scented jasmine all around the terrace. Very comfy bed and soft towels.

Lovely stay in excellent position

Maggie and Ahm were there to welcome us and to give information about the apartment and the town. We enjoyed sitting on the covered terrace and smelling the jasmine! Fab stay in Monet apartment

Our stay in the Monet apartment was fabulous. The location was perfect- we could walk into town or quickly get on the road to visit other locations in the Dordogne. The apartment was a great size for two and we loved sitting on the porch overlooking the beautiful garden. Maggie and Ahm were perfect hosts. We really enjoyed our time there.

Great rental in a great town

Maggie and Ahm are wonderful hosts. The flat had everything you need, supplied with cleaning supplies, paper goods, wine, coffee, tea. The terrace is the best! Easy walk into the city center. Very thoughtful property!

Relaxing stay near the heart of Sarlat

We spent 9 glorious nights at this charming apartment in an old house within walking distance to the town center. Our hosts were easy to communicate with and very gracious. The accommodations were very comfortable - we spent every evening out on the front deck. It was a nice place to come back to after exploring the Dordogne area. The apartment had everything we needed, including a book of suggested itineraries, above and beyond what we had in our guidebook. We highly recommend this apartment!

Fabulous apartment

We loved the fact that the apartment was only a short walk into Sarlat ( which is the most beautiful place we have ever been) the hosts have thought of everything even a walnut cracker which doubles as a champagne cork remover. We will return next year as there is so much to see in the beautiful region of Dordogne . Maggie and Ahm were fantastic

Maggie and Ahmed's property in Sarlat France

We had a fantastic stay at Maggie and Ahmed's property in Sarlat. We had everything we needed and much more. They were such excellent hosts and would have loved to stay longer. We had a lovely patio to relax on which is fully furnished, we also had the offer of sun loungers and a BBQ. We would have no hesitation in recommending their property for a stay. The location is ideal for a stroll into town and to visit other areas in the vicinity. Nice apartment with everything you need and with a great terrace for outdoor dining

Maggie & Ahm are excellent hosts and clearly want their guests to have a great experience. The property is ideally located for Sarlat which is just a 10 minute stroll away, because it is in a fairly busy area it was a little noisy at times but this wasn't a problem for us. The apartment provided us with an ideal base from which to explore the delights of the Dordogne region. We would absolutely recommend this accommodation and would certainly stay there again ourselves.

A five star experience at every level - perfect!

Maggie and Ahm are wonderful people and were exceptional hosts. The accommodations surpassed our expectations - the apartment was spacious and very clean, the terrace ideal for relaxing and dining. Overall, the apartment met our needs. The outdoor space was terrific. We had a few very hot days when the apartment was warm. The 15 minute walk to town was acceptable. Parking was not a problem. Meeting a delightful couple from Germany staying next door was a nice benefit. And the town of Sarlat is excellent.

The Monet apartment was the perfect place to stay for us. It was very clean, functional furniture, and decorated with unique touches. The on-site parking and washer/dryer added to its many benefits. It is a fairly easy walk to Sarlat (15 min.) for pastries, shopping, and dining. Sarlat is a perfect base for those exploring the Dordogne area. What made this apartment stand out, however, were the hosts. Maggie and Ahm were the perfect hosts who made sure all our needs were met. The communication was outstanding! They are lovely people! If you are going to be in the area this is the perfect base.

Lovely Sarlat

We had originally booked the apartment thinking we would have a car. If we had, the parking was excellent. It was a bit far from the beautiful town of Sarlat for us seniors to walk, but we did fine. In spite of that, the apartment is so well equipped and has a lovely terrace. The appliances were the most user friendly we had encountered in Europe. What is most special are the owners who are so interesting, helpful, and lots of fun. Thank you, Maggie and Ahm!

Gracious hosts offer comfortable, homey, well-appointed apartment

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Sarlat and highly recommend the Monet apartment, which was clean and comfortable and where we quickly felt at home. Though we arrived early in the season, with changeable spring weather, one afternoon was warm enough for us to sit on the spacious veranda, sip the wine our hosts had kindly provided, and nod over our reading, listening to birdsong and the hum of bees. The location is near enough to old Sarlat that one can reach the center with a ten-fifteen minute stroll, yet far enough to be a peaceful retreat. Maggie and Ahmed are exemplary hosts. They provided a welcome bag of treats and local wine, gave us much good information about restaurants and shopping, and were available for help or questions. They are also just nice, interesting people, and we enjoyed our talks with them.

Perfect in everyway

Our hosts were there to greet us when we arrived and walked us through our accommodations. They are so kind and helpful. They have a folder with suggested day trips in the area which is a terrific bit of local knowledge. i fell in love with the apartment itself as soon as I walked in , nicely appointed, beautifully decorated, comfortable bed and pillows, enough room for storage. It was the small, thoughtful things that really made an impression on me. Maggie and Abdel checked in with us to make sure we were comfortable, they had a cooler for our use with cold packs, plate and cutlery to take on picnics and of course their booklet with suggestions for day trips. I didn't want to leave and would love to go back again

Prima verblijf op loopafstand van het centrum van Sarlat

Prima verblijf, aardige eigenaar die zeer behulpzaam is. Parkeren op eigen terrein. Keuken heeft z'n beperkingen, geen daglicht en geen afzuiging boven kooktoestel. terras is op het zuiden, daardoor erg warm en veel last van verkeershinder van de drukke straat. Er stond een airco, maar die was niet aangesloten. Als uitgangspunt voor Sarlat en omgeving uitstekend.

Wonderful apartment in Sarlat.

The Monet apartment is one of 4 in the building. It is very comfortable, with a small kitchen and larger living area. We also made good use of the covered veranda. Liked that there was a washing machine and drying rack. The hosts live in the building and we’re there to greet us as we arrived and provided helpful information for our stay in the area. It was a 10 minute walk to the centre of town, with lots of restaurants. There is a large grocery store nearby. Getting in and out of town for touring the area, was easy and parking was provided.

I was born in the UK, and now recently retired, have decided to move to France.

I have a French speaking husband, and can speak French well enough to get by.

We fell in love with south west France and decided that if we don't move now we never will. So the adventure begins.

Why they chose this property

We bought Maison Pierre D'Or in September 2016. It was already established as luxury holiday apartments.

We have spent the last few months painting and decorating and refurbishing to make it a comfortable and welcoming place to stay. We aim to give all our guests a wonderful time whilst staying with us.

What makes this property unique

The house has four apartments which all have their unique character. The are light and spacious with a south facing view over Sarlat.

The house is a short walk in to the centre of medieval Sarlat. It's a great location, and there is parking at the house, which is a great bonus during the busy summer months when parking in the centre is almost impossible. Sarlat is a stunning place, with wonderful buildings and markets. As is the surrounding countryside with its chateaux, prehistoric caves, beautiful gardens and gorgeous countryside and little villages. We think you will fall in love with it too.
