About this property

The Manse, South Creake, Norfolk

Situated in the picturesque village of South Creake, this exquisite red brick Grade II listed detached cottage is a very special place to stay. The Manse, a magnificent spacious hideaway, boasts elegant interiors and an expansive enclosed garden, and is just a short drive from the coast.

Beautifully presented to provide all the convenience and comfort of contemporary living, The Manse is the perfect choice for families, couples, or a group of friends. Surrounded by a brick and flint wall, and approached via grand manually operated gates revealing a large gravel driveway, The Manse is immediately impressive. Upon arriving via the entrance hall, a delightfully bright and airy sitting room will draw attention. With ample sumptuous seating, this room invites guests to nestle in after a day spent exploring the big outdoors. To the other side, a contemporary dining room provides seating for six guests to gather together around a glass table. The well-equipped kitchen boasts modern appliances, generous worktop space, and a breakfast bar with sit up stools - perfect for keeping the nominated chef entertained while they rustle up a delectable feast made using the areas local produce. A convenient utility room, housing a larder style fridge / freezer and other appliances, completes this floor.

The master bedroom has a king-size bed and is served by a stylish en-suite shower room. With tranquil coastal decor, a double bed and ornamental original fireplace feature in bedroom two. Wrought iron framed twin beds are provided in bedroom three. These two rooms are served by a good-sized family bathroom with bath with shower over. With all beds dressed in good quality linen with complimenting calming soft furnishings, guests are guaranteed to experience a comfortable deep sleep.

Outside, the secure enclosed walled garden is ideal for children and enjoys the sun all day, and is equipped with two patio areas. A well-kept lawn edged by mature planted borders provides an idyllic backdrop to igniting the brick barbecue. This outdoor space has been thoughtfully designed to enable guests to enjoy warm summers long into the evening. Cozy Winter Retreat

We stayed at the Manse in February. It was a very cold week but the cottage was very cosy. It was a real home from home. Excellent location just a few minutes drive from Burnham Market and ten minutes drive to the beach. Plenty to see and do in the area. The upstairs layout may be a problem for some people. One bedroom and bathroom accessed through another bedroom but it wasn't a problem for us at all. Sadly there was no milk on arrival so you may like to pick some up en-route! We would definitely stay at the Manse again if it were available.

An enjoyable stay overall

We had a good two weeks at The Manse. Overall the facilities were very good, clean, with comfortable beds and a decent walk in shower. The books, pictures and ornaments give it character and a homely feel. Our only gripe was the sitting room. The decor made it a little dark and the seating was not very comfortable. The two seater sofa which came adrift in the middle does not meet the description of high quality furnishing throughout. However this did not spoil the holiday. The cottage is well located for exploring all the North Norfolk coast and has a safe, totally enclosed garden.

Nice visit to another part of Norfolk

Set in a peaceful location and in a good position to travel to lots of other locations/attractions around Norfolk. Lovely looking property and garden to be enjoyed. Property comfortable but just needs some TLC.

Comfortable accommodation and facilities but noisy road quite disruptive & gate could be dangerous

Good location, comfortable beds and facilities. Proximity to noisy busy road was great disadvantage.

Lovely cottage

Lovely cottage and garden, well equipped and furnished, and in good condition. Only negatives were that the super king bed mattress had a dip in it which our friends found uncomfortable and I think the overview should mention that you have to walk through bedroom 2 to reach bedroom 3 - only noticed that after we had booked it (tucked away in layout details). The road by the house can get quite busy mornings and evenings but it was quiet at night.

The Manse May half term 2017

We stayed at the Manse for a week in May half term 2017 and had a fantastic time in North Norfolk, We have 2 young daughters who are 4 and 2 so we were attracted by the security that the Manse offers. Having electric gates was great for us as we could let the girls run around outside without fear of them suddently running out on to the road. The Cottage itself was lovely and as everyone else in the visitor book commented, very well equipped. The only request i would make is that the owner provides the option of a travel cot and high chair, as a lot of other family friendly cottages do. This was our expectation and we were quite disappointed that only a high chair could be provided. We brought our own travel cot but not having to bring one gives you a lot more space in the car! The cottage has plenty of space downstairs - we particularly liked the 3 fridges!. this was really useful when stocking up for a week. The sofas in the living room could have been a bit comfier but the rug was so nice we sat on the floor a lot of the time. The upstairs bedroom layout worked fine for us - there is a double bedroom leading through a corridor in to the twin room so you have to go through one bedroom to get to the next - but this might not work for other people. The location of the cottage is good. its only a short drive to Brancaster, Burnham market, holkham hall, wells next the sea. Its on a fairly busy road with no footpath so we didnt want to walk down in to South Creake, especially with small children. But its quiet and peaceful so you can live with this. I would definitely recommend this cottage, especially to young families who want a secure, enclosed area and i would certainly stay there again. There is so much to do in this area we may be back for 2 weeks next time!
