Located just 45 minutes west of Minneapolis, Minnesota and just south of the town of Howard Lake, you can enjoy a vacation close to home! The dutch lake farm GUEST HOUSE is a contemporary, private guest house, lofted above a garage for maximum views of Dutch Lake and picturesque fields and woods through floor to ceiling windows. The virtual glass living room is one architectural element of your own private accommodations including a private entrance, living room, dinette with small refrigerator and microwave oven, bedroom and full bathroom.
Enjoy the two docks and use of the canoe and fire pit. Explore the private 80 acre setting with a trail through fields, a hardwood forest, and a Christmas tree growing farm. Enjoy all the nature that Minnesota has to offer while canoeing, hiking the trails, fishing off the dock by the lake, bird watching, stargazing far from the city’s light pollution, or simply relaxing on the double hammock under the 200 year old cottonwood tree. We had a wonderful stay at the property! It was very clean, the grounds were well kept, and the owners were attentive. The guest house is beautiful and looks like a bouquet hotel, it has everything you need for a short stay. The grounds are amazing, the lake was clear and peaceful, and the trail around the property is such a nice walk with lots of beautiful views. This is a great stay if you are looking for somewhere quiet with lots of nature!

This is such a tranquil spot, and perfect for a last night in MN after some time in Minneapolis. My husband loved the fishing access and caught a few bass! The guest house was modern and pristine; no worries about cleanliness whatsoever. We had no trouble accessing mobile internet. Hosts were very nice!

Peaceful lake getaway

We loved our stay. It was very peaceful and the loft floor to ceiling window to look out at the birds and field. We used the bench on the dock enjoying the lake and the birds.

Peaceful and Disconnected

This loft is exactly as advertised. If you want a place to decompress and disconnect, this is your place. The lake is beautiful and the loft is very well kept. Another plus is you are only a 45-60 minute drive from MSP, so depending on where you want to go in the city, you can be there, generally, within the hour. It’s the best of both worlds. My wife and I would highly recommend this place.

Great little getaway!

Perfect for a night away! The lake is gorgeous, the indoor space is very clean and the owners have a sweet and friendly dog we enjoyed meeting. My only complaint (and this is not the owner’s fault) is that the bathroom has loft-style walls, so some on its walls are open at the top and don’t fully connect to the ceiling, which is not ideal for privacy. Otherwise the place is great though!

Great one-night stay less than an hour away from Twin Cities

We were looking for a quick getaway to celebrate our anniversary and this place was perfect. Great weather to take in the trail around the property, take the canoe out for a paddle, read a little in the hammocks and then enjoy a fire lakeside at the end of the night. Greg and Christie were great hosts. Good recommendation for dinner at Bait & Hook just west of town for some seafood. Highly recommend staying there.

Beautiful spot!

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay here. It was gorgeous, just as pictured (or more so). The place was clean and very cute and nice, had everything we needed. The bed was super comfortable. We took the canoe out and watched a bald eagle above us for quite some time. The hosts were very kind and had excellent communication. Overall would highly recommend!
