We had a wonderful stay at the big yellow farm house! It was perfect for our family of 7 Lots of space to spread out. The house was very clean and we really enjoyed our coffee on the beautiful front porch. We also enjoyed being close to the beach and taking showers in the outdoor shower after a beach day! We would highly recommend this place!
Spacious enough for the whole family, kids and grandkids! Beautiful house and very accurate description. It was our first time in Little Compton, so it took a while to figure out which beach to go to but we had a wonderful family vacation and hopefully will be back!
We had a fantastic, relaxing stay at this home. The setting is gorgeous. The home is spacious. The front porch overlooking the river is a great place to enjoy your morning coffee. We loved everything about our stay and would highly recommend a visit.
Wonderful old farmhouse with plenty of room for all of us! Very comfortable and accommodating. Our host was terrific. Thanks for sharing your house with us.
Our first family vacation combining 3 generations. From the morning coffee on the front porch to meals in a dining room that sat everyone comfortably to ending our days playing whiffleball on the lawn and watching the sunsets and stars come out I couldnt have asked for a better spot. Plenty of spaces to sleep, bathrooms and the kitchen had all the tools and appliances needed.
Wonderful Little Compton stay for our whole family
Our third year staying at the Peckman House. Delightful for grandparents, adults, kids, and toddlers. A very Little Compton home - perfect for our family! Everything was easy for us to make this stay wonderful: communication in advance and throughout our stay, check in and out. Will be back again!

We loved our stay at the farmhouse and would definitely return – such a great base of operations for excursions to all the beaches, for visits to Sakonnet Gardens (beyond special!), and with family nearby, plus trips to Adamsville, Westport, and up-river to Tiverton and waterfront walks. The house is so spacious, we were able to gather together in groups large and small, or to have plenty of privacy when needed. Evening hangouts on the front porch were memorable. Kitchen is a great hangout spot in itself.
We loved the spacious and beautiful family home - with its history and its gorgeous view of the Sakonnet River across the farm. Also, a great jumping-off point for activities, whether on Sakonnet Point, Adamsville, Westport, or Tiverton - and beyond. Warm, welcoming host with Rick Peckham. Great sleeping breeze off the ocean. Overall, great place, great stay. :)
This was our fourth stay at the Peckham's family house. It reminds me of summers on eastern Long Island in the 1960s. Not fancy, but big and warm and welcoming. Every year more of my family and friends fall in love with this house.
This was our fifth end-of-summer week at this house. Every year it gets a little bit better. It reminds me of childhood summers on Eastern Long Island, back when it was uncrowded and affordable. It's not a fancy house, but it has incredible, almost magical, energy.
Our group of seven loved the farmhouse. The house was big enough for seven adults to spend out, all the bedrooms were large and comfortable with nice linens. The house was decorated with beautiful and comfortable furnishings, the kitchen was well stocked. Our group was welcomed with fresh flowers from the owner from their greenhouse next door, even had basket of fresh herbs to use. We sat on front porch every night to watch the beautiful sunsets over the water. This house is definitely one of our group favorites, would book it again
The last night at the Peckham house, I sat in "my" bed in "my" room and booked the property again for summer 2023. Which will be our fourth stay and I hope not our last. This place is like the summer house of my childhood in eastern Long Island--unfussy, atmospheric, friendly, beautiful. The family that owns and manages it are so accommodating. Oh, the epic dinners we have cooked and eaten in the kitchen/dining room, the music we've played on the porch, the games of home-made wooden paddle tennis we've played on the lawn. I just love this house.
We rented this property because of the number of people the house can accommodated but were blown away with the charm, character and location of the property. The hosts were responsive and easily available but not required because the property is well appointed and maintained. We started planning our next trip to Little Compton on our second day with every intention of renting what we called the Yellow house. For perspective we traveled with a large group of our extended family which required us to rent three properties in the area and the Yellow House by far was our favorite. If you are looking for a comfortable get away with friends or family the memories are waiting to be created at this well cared for property.
For our family reunion, this home exceeded our expectations. It was roomy, and we were pleased that it had the small daybed near the bath for the needs of a handicapped family member. The home was clean and well-furnished, and the owners were attentive and answered our calls and texts when we had a question. The area of Little Compton/Tiverton is beautiful, historic and unspoiled. We attended church at the Congregational Church in L. Compton on Sunday - lovely people and service. A truly wonderful week! Thank you!
This old house was very cool in my opinion. The view from the front porch looking across the Sakonnet river to Aquidneck island was amazing. Enjoying coffee on the porch early in the morning you could sometimes hear a boat fighting against the incoming tide as it slapped against the water. Tons of different birds chirping away each morning (the Cornell merlin bird app was quite helpful in identifying them.) Be aware that the house is over 100 years old so it is not perfect...but that is what I found added to the charm. The rear of the property is the Peckham family's Greenhouse business so the owner is not far away if needed. We were always given plenty of space and never felt encroached on. Actually we sought them out a couple times just to chat and find out more about the house and what it was like growing up there. Despite Little Compton being a sparsely populated town of only 3600 people or so, the Main rd and Peckham rd were frequently traveled. We spent three weeks there and it was quite relaxing just hanging out. There are also a number of small shops and restaurants within a 15 minute drive...or you can relatively easily venture into Fall River, Tiverton, or over to Aquidneck island & Newport.
This house and grounds provide plenty of space indoors and out. We had 4 adults and 3 children in our group and there were plenty of bedrooms (we didn't use them all) and bathrooms as well as seats at the table. The kitchen provided ample space for the cook and anyone else helping out. We played games out on the front lawn most evenings and the stone wall that surrounded it provided a nice safety feature for the little ones. The few shortcomings: the refrigerator lacked shelving as one of the main shelves was broken so items needed to be stacked and some rooms lacked window shades which would have been a problem if everyone that was supposed to come did. In addition, without air-conditioning, it did get hot and humid inside. However, everyone was able to sleep. The house is situated just a couple of miles from a number of beaches, and it was fun exploring Tiverton 4 Corners as well as Little Compton's center. Grey's Ice Cream was a hit with everyone. My granddaughter referred to where we were staying as the Big Yellow House. Everyone enjoyed their stay.
Our second annual stay at the Peckman’s property and we are already counting down again until next summer’s trip. The place was absolutely perfect for our family gathering of 8 adults and 3 kids. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen is perfectly equipped (grill in the yard as well!) and the location is fabulous. We cherished our evening drinks on the porch overlooking beautiful yard and ocean views as the sunset! Easy drive to the public beach and into town. So enjoy the Peckman’s hospitality and can’t wait to come again. Thanks so much for hosting our favorite family vacation!
Very comfortable for our family, 8 adults and 2 small children. Absolutely beautiful setting, wonderful accommodations, friendly hosts. It was just perfect!
Many decades ago, I spent summers by the ocean at an old, friendly house very much like this one. So when I come here (this was my second visit and not my last!) I feel as if I'm entering a dreamscape. It's not a fancy property and it's not within walking distance to the beach, which I selfishly hope will keep away the kind of people who are basically looking for the Outer Banks, north version. The Peckham Family are wonderful hosts. Everyone feels at home the minute they step in the door. We had epic seafood dinners around the big dining table and perfect cocktail hours on the front porch. Nothing better than washing off the sand of the day in the outdoor shower! See? I don't have the words.
My family has been vacationing in LC for 30-+ years and this year, staying at the Peckham house, was one of our very best. The place is absolutely wonderful, quintessential LC experience. Our hosts were easily available to answer our questions, but the place had everything we needed. It was great for my parents (60+) and my kids (2yo and 8mo). We could even see the Newport fireworks from the porch! Thanks so much to the Peckham family, we hope to return again next year!
The Peckham House is well cared for and in a great location in Little Compton. There was more than enough room for us (5 adults, 2 children), and the kitchen was well equipped for meals at home.
Our only gripe was the iron in the well water, causing us to have to use bottled water for drinking/coffee, and stained whites when washing clothes, and wasn't ideal when bathing. The property owners acknowledged this and planned to remediate in the future.
Great views of the water from the porch and two of the upstairs bedrooms. We enjoyed our stay, thank you!
