About this property
Cosy, traditiional stone cottage in Glen Nevis with wood burning stove.
Shepherd's Cottage sits in Glen Nevis, at the start of the Ben Nevis footpath. Fenced within its own garden this stone-built 17th century cottage has good views over Glen Nevis. The cottage now also has wifi access. It has a particularly traditional atmosphere including a wood burning stove ( complimentary basket of logs ). There are two main rooms and a bathroom all with heating. The bedroom has a king-sized double bed, bedside cupboards, a chest of drawers, a wardrobe, two chairs and a radio. The other main room is the sitting room / well equipped kitchen. There is a dining table and two chairs, a settee, coffee table, well stocked bookcase and a television. The bathroom contains a toilet, wash-hand basin and bathtub with shower and a heated towel rail. Across the drive the old stone barn has been converted into a walkers' bar/restaurant ( Ben Nevis Inn). There's plenty of walking right from the door of the cottage if you don't want to use your car. Walk up Ben Nevis; Explore Glen Nevis - along the river; the Lower Falls at Pollduh; Upper Glen Nevis Gorge and Steall Falls; the iron age hill fort site, Dun Deardail, on the hill opposite the cottage - just a few suggestions. We live at the farm house down the hill if you want any information about the area. One mile from Fort William, Shepherd's Cottage is centrally located for day trips to, for example, the Isle of Skye and the white sandy beaches of Morar. Take the steam train to Mallaig or a cable car up a mountain. There are several golf courses close by. Visit the West Highland museum in Fort William or take a boat trip in Loch Linnhe. We do not accept pets.

Beautiful cottage exactly as described and pictures. Very cozy. Proximity to Ben Nevin is perfect and the Ben Nevin Inn is a great dinner option if you don’t want to drive. Loved it.

Thanks for looking after the cottage and leaving it so tidy.
Glad you enjoyed your stay with us.
We had a lovely Christmas holiday at Shepherds Cottage. It’s perfect for being cosy away from wintry Scottish weather, and a great base for exploring the local area.
Beautiful little cottage at the foot of Ben Nevis, tucked out of the way but so close to all amenities.
Also very quiet at night considering it's next to the inn .
The cottage had everything we needed for a lovely stay, the bed was extremely comfy and the cottage warm and cosy.
Couldn't have asked for more and would definitely recommend/ try to visit again.
A lovely cosy cottage situated at the base of Ben Nevis, very well equipped with everything we needed for a week away. Lots of beautiful walks in the area with fantastic views.
The keys were in the door ready for us. Everything we needed was available. Wi-Fi was good. Only issue was the staff door to the Ben Nevis Inn, it made a loud banging noise when people were coming in & out. The cottage was extremely comfortable.
Very confortable cottage.
Every thing is perfect.
We have really enjoyed our stay there.
The Fort William area is very beautiful and his population very welcoming.
We will definitely come back
This cottage was just idyllic- cozy, gorgeous setting, on a farm with sheep grazing, next to an inn with great food and drink, literally right by the Ben Nevis trail. Highly recommend!
The cottage was perfect in every way. I travelled alone and it was ideally located for all the walks, hikes and the climb up Ben Nevis. It was immaculately clean and had everything needed for a relaxing and peaceful stay. The log burner was great for the colder nights. The owners were very pleasant and helpful.
Great communication and arrived to warm cottage with key in the door. All the needed kitchen appliances and a great log burner in the main room. A bathroom with choice of shower or bath. A comfortable bedroom and bed.
Fab location in Glen Nevis close to outstanding Ben Nevis Inn, but importantly no noise disturbance!
Very happy with our stay.
Just awesome place. It was exactly what we wanted a beautiful cottage, private w/wood stove Plenty of firewood, host was great although we didnt need anything except firewood (we had a fire in the morning and again when we returned) didnt need any other heat source. Host responded quickly to refill the wood bin outside. Hiking was exceptional, views unbelievable never been to Scotland and it was wonderful. one of the best VRBO stays and we have stayed in many before! Only thing not correct in the listing was there wasn't a laundry machine we counted on to do mid-vacation cloths washing. But the stay over shadowed that dissapointment.
The house is perfect, the location around the house phantastisch. And the best is the help from Scot by organising thinks for our automobil (we had a damage). Thankyou Scot and Heather)
We looked for a typical scottish cottage. This is just perfect for two. Although it's tiny, the cottage is very functional and well equiped.
It's cosy and warm.
The location is perfect at the foot of Ben Nevis and just 5' from town and all stores.
A lovely, cosy & comfortable cottage with all amenities.
Basic provisions like milk & amazing brownies were provided!!
Very picturesque location & quiet.
You only have the bleeting sheep for company.
The Ben Nevis inn is next door for a hearty meal.
Amazing hiking, walking & cycling trails all round..
Thanks Scott and Heather, we had an amazing time.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the sweet and exceptionally clean Shepard’s Cottage despite rain every day of our visit. We suited up with rain coats and pants and had fabulous hikes, one from the door of the cottage (loop down to the Glen Nevis River and back up to the beginning of the trail up Ben Nevis), up to Steall Falls from an upper car park on Glen Nevis, around Glencoe, and on the Isle of Skye. Important note: while the Ben Nevis Inn and pub is just across the lane from the cottage, the lane is private, so no traffic passes associated with the pub and the cottage is tucked in below where the noise and activity of the pub does not intrude. Finally, Scot and Heather are wonderful hosts, Scot with travel suggestions that suited us perfectly and Heather with the best brownies we’ve ever tasted.
We had a very nice week in this little house. We immediately felt at home. It is well equipped and clean. A good place for two people. A good place to explore the area and not only for people who want to climb the Ben Nevis (we did not). The scenery is stunning.
You don't notice the car park in the back of the house, or people visiting the Inn. At night it is very quiet.
We did not have the weather to sit outside. If you do, you will hear the airconditioning of the Inn. It is on during the day and evening.
The house does not have a washing machine but Heather kindly offer to do any washing at her house.
We recommend this place.
