About this property

Where Mid-Century Modern Meets The Mountain

1970's California Modern Estate designed by Stan Sackley, AIA in the historic Tennis Club - Downtown Palm Springs. Less than one mile from downtown shopping, restaurants and night life, up the secluded Ramon Road, directly across the street from the North Lykken Hiking Trail, nestled at the base of the San Jacinto Mountains is a splendid private home in one of Palm Springs’ most prestigious neighborhoods, offering 360 degree city lights & mountain views. This four bedroom (all ensuite) four and one half bathroom with 3,699 square feet of living space has been meticulously renovated throughout. Sitting on just over ~ acre, this architecturally significant home captures the true essence of Palm Springs' indoor/outdoor lifestyle.

Enter through large double doors & you're greeted to an expansive sunken formal living room with beamed ceilings and encompassed with walls of glass & clerestory windows. A wet bar with ice maker is the centerpiece of a lounge boasting sectional seating and cocktail tables. A double sided gas fireplace provides the focal point for an evening of conversation, games and relaxation. A separate reading area is enhanced with sectional seating and a coffee table. Access to the outside is through enormous sliding doors. Internet access is available.

The gourmet eat-in kitchen boasts a Thermador SS oven/microwave, dishwasher, range top and refrigerator, counter stools for the island, white quartz counter tops & custom teak cabinetry. A Saarinen marble top table has stylish seating for four. The kitchen opens to a separate dining room which provides more formal seating for eight, overlooking the sunken living room and the pool outside. Outdoor access to the salt water pool and additional al fresco dining is provided by sliding doors. Melamine dishes and drinkware enhance the outdoor experience.

A full size washer and dryer are provided in a separate laundry room off the kitchen.

The east facing bedrooms enjoy lovely views of the landscaped backyard and the saltwater pool while the west facing rooms feature a private patio fountain and a view of the mountain across the street. Three of the bedrooms feature brand new king size beds with two sets of linens; the fourth bedroom features a new queen size bed. Each has a large closet, dresser, two bedside tables and a spa-inspired bath, with the master including a stand- alone tub, double shower heads, double sinks, and walk-in closet/dressing room. The living room and each bedroom is also equipped with a 49”-55” LG smart television. All four shaded bedrooms have sliding door access to the outside.

The two level grass and concrete patio backyard retreat, well lit in the evening, offers a resort style saltwater pool/spa featuring lounge chairs, a teak sectional sofa and love seat, a teak dining table with stylish white Verner Pantone chairs seating eight, and a built-in barbecue & fire pit. Umbrellas provide shade and pool toys are included. Wildlife ranging from Road Runners to geckos are in abundance. Screened sliding doors allow you to keep them outside where they can be enjoyed in their habitat.

Original paintings commissioned by local artist, Shawn Savage, ceramics by Jonathan Adler and glass by Mayauel Ward enhance the authentic mid-century décor in each room. Interior and exterior design by Totem Interiors of Manhattan Beach.

Centrally located a short walk from downtown Palm Springs, a 5 minute walk from the historic Melvyn's Restaurant / Ingleside Inn , 1.1 miles from the Palm Springs Art Museum, 15 minutes from golf and the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, and across the street from the North Lykken hiking trailhead.

A Wonderful Vacation

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at this beautiful home. We were travelling with 3 other couples and everyone had their own ensuite bathroom and plenty of personal space. The location was great for walking to many of the restaurants in the area. The house was very clean and well-equipped with everything we needed for our stay, and the property manager, Fred, was great at communicating with us for arrival and departure.

Weekend Away

This was a great house in a great location. Four couples travelling from Orlando, FL to Stagecoach, we wanted something nice to relax and enjoy Palm Springs while not at the festival. This house was super cool and fit the local vibe we were looking for with it's mid-century modern style and decor. Just blocks from restaurants and shopping, it was a great location. The house was clean, and we appreciate a rental that's stocked with the necessities - more than enough towels, kitchen needs, etc. Property Manager was lively and responsive. Very happy with our choice.

Great property, great location

We were a group a friends, four couples, and had a wonderful week here. It had everything we needed, in suite bathrooms, beautiful common living room with ample seating for everyone, views from the backyard that included pool, hot tub and fire pit. The location is fabulous - a quiet neighborhood off the main drag, but easy walking distance to everything, shops, restaurants, etc. Downtown is a 20 minute walk, Design District about 30. One of the best features is the North Lykken trailhead just a stone's throw from the house, which we hiked in various combinations most every day.

Post Christmas Getaway with Family

We very much enjoyed our stay in Palm Springs! The house was beautiful, and it was perfect for our family of five, with all of us having our own bathrooms! Fred, the property manager, was quick to answer any texts I sent him and was there promptly for check-in and check-out at our agreed-upon times. There is still some amount of construction noise going on behind the house, but generally it didn't bother us too much, though it started a bit early. We would definitely return to this house -- great location within walking distance of restaurants, bars, and shopping.

Mid mod vaca

The house was perfectly located for our annual trip to Palm Springs modernism week. The house has everything needed to hang out inside, outside poolside or just kicked back enjoyed the amazing views. The owners graciously warned us that the corner lot is being built on . With the strict PS noise ordinances we truly never had any unpleasant noise or commotion coming from the construction workers. Loved our stay! And Fred , the property manager , was a joy to work with. Check-in and check-out were both quick and easy.

Beyond expectations

There are a number of ways to enjoy Palm Springs, this home is certainly one of the best. It is ideally located in a great neighborhood, incredible mountain views, and great proximity to downtown Palm Springs. The home itself is a perfect representation of what makes Palm Springs special. It is bigger than it looks in pictures, for us there was far more than we needed. Furnished well in all regards. Little details matter, one night we ended up sitting in the living room listening to music for hours because the speakers were so good. Outside is where we spent most of our time, and we fully enjoyed that key piece of the house a great deal. Easy booking, responsive managers...nothing to prevent you from enjoying this house. Highly recommended.

Location can’t be beat

House is located outside great hiking trail and less than a mile to Art Museum. Views are spectacular. House lives large and has great indoor and outdoor space. The views are spectacular! Property manager physically checks you in and out versus door code. I’ve stayed at enough rentals that I prefer to check myself in/out. If you take the master suite, just know that the living room TV is on other side of fireplace and feels like it’s on in your room. Overall, I would stay again.

Why they chose this property

We have been desert golfers for 30 years. This house is the combination of perfect location/setting and size/architecture. It's quiet yet a 10 minute walk to all the action downtown. It's large yet cozy in its layout. And the backyard is fabulous.

What makes this property unique

The sunken living room and wide expanse of windows to the backyard gave us that "wow" moment. The four en suite bedrooms were the icing on the cake. And the street cannot be beat. We have very private neighbors and we wish to blend in with them.
