About this property
Bright 4 Bedroom Family Home in Prime West Hampstead with Garden and Garage
This detached house is in a great central location in the 'posh' part of West Hampstead, an area of London favoured by affluent young professionals and families.
This is a lovely comfortable relaxing house to stay in as it is so light and bright and airy, and the layout is ideal for socialising. The acoustics are good too, as confirmed by an Opera singer who once stayed whilst performing in the West End.
It has a totally open-plan ground floor, which is split-level and has a double height ceiling. Steps down from the lounge area lead to the kitchen and dining area, which has patio doors into the the garden. There's a door from the kitchen into the garage where the washing machine and tumble drier are. There's a downstairs loo near the front door, which is very handy.
Upstairs on the first floor, the master bedroom has a double bed and plenty of wardrobe storage space and is very quiet as it overlooks the garden. Next to this is the twin-bedroom, which has two single beds, and then the single bedroom which has single bed and is small. The twin bedroom and the single bedroom overlook the street at the front of the house but are still very quiet. The family bathroom on the first floor has a bath and separate shower.
Up on the top floor is the loft double bedroom which is very spacious and has a view of central London and The London Eye from one window, and of the garden through the other. The loft bedroom has an ensuite shower room.
The house has a garage which is ideal for a small or medium size car, but may be a bit small for very large vehicles.
There is a good size rear garden which is fully enclosed and backs on to other gardens.
This house has been rented via estate agents for many years and we get lots of repeat visitors, but guests often have to pay a lot of additional charges, so we are now offering it through Vrbo for shorter stays of minimum 13 nights.
The local Police Station where the police horses are stabled is just across the road, as is Fortune Green, a beautiful award-winning little park with a pretty children's play area.
There's a supermarket and cashpoint just around the corner, along with a no-contract gym, a fitness classes centre, a local bar and Indian and Japanese restaurants.
A two or three minute walk down the road and you're in the bustling cafes and bars of West End Lane, which is West Hampstead's high street. There are Italian, British, Thai, Lebanese, Indian and Burger restaurants, plus Nando's and aa variety of independent cafes as well as Cafe Nero, Costa and Starbucks. Excellent local bars and pubs including The Lion and Alice House and Th Alliance. A five to ten minute walk in the other direction are the wonderful green spaces of Hampstead Heath and Golders Hill Park. A 30 minute walk gets you to Primrose Hill and the wonderful views of London from the top of the hill.
One of the very best things about West Hampstead is its brilliant transport links. Pretty much anywhere in London worth going to can be reached within 15-20 minutes on public transport.
Tube trains: There's the Jubilee tube line which goes direct to Oxford Street/Bond Street (15-20 minutes) if you want to go shopping and which also goes direct to Waterloo and Westminster for sight seeing and the cultural attractions of the Southbank, like Tate Modern (20-25 minutes).
London Overground trains: The line from West Hampstead goes direct to Kew Gardens and beautiful Richmond (30 minutes), or to Canary Wharf in London’s docklands and Stratford, and the site of the 2012 Olympics. It also goes to Shepherd's Bush and Stratford's Westfield Shopping Centres.
National rail trains: The Thameslink railway from West Hampstead gets to King's Cross St Pancras in 8 minutes, so is useful if wishing to catch the Eurostar, and continues on to Gatwick and Brighton. Thameslink trains also go direct to Luton airport, plus there are very frequent coaches to both Luton and Stansted Airports from the nearby Finchley Road. Paddington station is also easy, take the 328 bus to Kilburn Park then a few stops on the Bakerloo tube line and you arrive at Paddington station for the Heathrow Express train which is 20 minutes to Heathrow Airport.
There are also very frequent buses from West Hampstead into central London. Plus buses that go direct to popular destinations such as Kensington (Kensington Palace, Royal Albert Hall, Hyde Park), Notting Hill (Portobello Road Market) and Camden (for Camden market).
Getting to the property there are two local taxi companies that are good: Hampstead 8 seater taxi mail ukprivatetransfers@gmail.com for a quote or WhatsApp on +44 (0) 786555 1399 or call landline +44 (0) 20 8103 2939. Alternatively West End Lane Cars www.westendlanecarsltd.com has an online booking form and their phone number is +44 (0) 20 7328 2000. All the taxi companies now have to make an addition £5 charge for collection and drop off at Heathrow, which is added to the bill. They are generally cheaper than London black cabs waiting at the airport. Their prices will vary according to the number of suitcases as well as passengers, but expect in the region of £50-£65.
You may also take the Heathrow Express from the airport to Paddington station, which takes 15 minutes. Advance single tickets on named day of travel can be as little as £5.50 per adult but can be £25 if you just turn up on the day (check Heathrow Express prices online). At Paddington change to the Bakerloo line and go 3 stops to Kilburn Park station (which takes 5 minutes). Exit the station and just up to your left you will see the bus stop. Take the Golders Green 328 bus (which is about every 6 minutes) and get off at Fortune Green bus stop (which is the next stop after West Hampstead Police station and takes 20-30 minutes depending on traffic). Burrard Road is 4 minutes from here and is the first road on your left as you walk back down the hill.
As the owner lives in the next door road, we are close at hand to help you, should you need, and look forward to welcoming you very soon.

About the host
Hosted by MJ
I live just around the corner having lived in several parts of London before settling in West Hampstead 30 years ago. I absolutely love it here. The locals are very friendly, it's a very vibrant and fun area and extremely safe. There are lots of great places to eat catering for all tastes and prices, and travelling to West End shops and Theatre or any central London attractions is incredibly easy to get around because we have some of the very best transport links of any area in London.
Why they chose this property
This property is unusual for West Hampstead in that it is a modern design house with a very spacious airy feel. Its garden is quite large for this part of London, and it has a garage which is very rare - although with such great public transport most people don't have cars.
What makes this property unique
The entire ground floor of the house is open plan, spacious and split level, so it is absolutely perfect for relaxed sociable living. The house is also incredibly light, which makes guests feel very cheerful! The garden offers a very safe place for children to play, or for al fresco dining in the Summer months.
