About this property
Bay Cottage, a section of Ebbingford Manor, 850 yr old manor house by beach&town
Bay Cottage is a section of Ebbingford Manor. It dates back some 850 years, once opened to the public, this manor now offers a delightfully romantic & interesting self-catering holiday let. Bay Cottage is the first door you come to as you come up Ebbingfords' driveway, with its own off road parking space near to its front door. You enter straight into the living/dining room, a vaulted ceiling with a sky light makes this a lovely light room. It's walls combine beautiful old stone with wood panelling, a trait throughout this old manor. The Living/Dining room has a small oak dining table with two chairs; a sofa; wood burner; TV, CD/Radio with USB/Bluetooth& WiFi available.. The bedroom has a kingsize bed, a small wardrobe with 3 drawers and further storage space under the bed. The kitchen has gas cooker, washing machine & microwave. The bathroom has a shower over a corner bath and toilet. The whole property is on the ground floor and only about 500ft total with gas central heating. Bed linen and towels supplied. Garden with table & two chairs. Dogs are allowed, for small/medium breeds only due to size of accommodation. The garden adjoins the rest of the manors grounds, so not secure for dogs to roam freely. Located in the centre of town, Ebbingford is little known even in Bude, set quietly back in a secluded area, tucked away from the westerly winds under the lee of Efford Down, making it a wonderful sun trap on those clear days. Plenty to explore with coastal walks, sandy beaches, golf, fishing, surfing and swimming right on your doorstep. Plus Clovelly, Boscastle, Tintagel Castle, Rock & Padstow just 30 minute drives a. Pub approx 100metres away, shop 200 metres & beach 400 metres.

Compact, everything you could need, great shower, most amazingly comfortable bed, huge fluffy towels, comfortable sofa table and chairs. This was our second stay and it's still one of the best in Bude, close to beach, canal, pub and town. If we get to Bude again it will definately be on our list.
My husband and I stayed here five years ago and came back to celebrate our birthdays. Gina and Jonathan are such lovely hosts and we love their cottage. It felt like we were back at home when we stayed again and had an amazing nine days. We couldn’t fault a thing and hope to return again!Thank you for a wonderful stay.
Lovely place to stay, 5 minutes walk to the local pub, plenty of places to eat. Lovely beaches to visit which were all close by. We have booked again for next year. Lots of walks close by.The owners were on hand if you needed anything, very friendly too, we had a fab stay
We were doing the SW coast path and using Bude as a base this was a first class location. The accommodation is ideal for a couple and the property owner is wonderful.
The cottage was perfect for our stay. Ideal for two, cosy and provided everything we needed. A great location to access the town, beaches and canal. The hosts were very friendly and happy to assist when needed. A great place and highly recommended.
This was the third year in a row we've stopped at this property, it is in a superb location and is well suited for exploring the area, my only slight criticism is the property is a bit tired,

Charming and characterful, quirky and comfortable property ideal for a couple and a well behaved dog! - perfect location for Bude Town amenities yet quietly tucked away from the hustle and bustle, own parking area a big plus, lovely owners and friendly people throughout our stay

Wonderful cottage, spotlessly clean in a wonderful location close to beach and amenities, friendly hosts ,can't fault it,already booked for next year, can't wait
This is a lovely cottage in an excellent location, in walking distance to beaches, town center, pubs. It is located next to the manor house, with a separate entrance, and is part of the historic complex. The cottage is well suited for two people. The kitchen is not modern but has all necessary equipment, the small bathroom has a modern bathtub/shower, the bedroom is small but nice. However, some refurbishment would seem adequate. Parts of the wooden interior and the window frames are in need of maintenance, and during heavy rainfall there was water ingress from two points of the ceiling.
For a person holidaying alone, this was great. I loved the closeness to the town and the beach. And many other beautiful destinations within easy reach.
The cottage had all I needed and was ideal for a cosy autumn stay. A real gem.

About the host
Hosted by Gina D'Angelo-Stamp
Ebbingford Manor is owned and looked after by us, Jonathan & Gina D’Angelo-Stamp. Jonathan is the third generation of the Stamp family to own this near, 850 year old manor, first acquired by his grandfather Sir Laurence Dudley Stamp in 1953. Jonathan recently retired from travelling around the world performing his own comedy juggling and unicycling show on cruise ships, preferring now to be at home in gorgeous Bude with his family, surfing and maintaining the manor. Before the children arrived I too worked as an aerialist and acrobat, travelling the world performing shows at corporate, private and public events. I now manage our holiday lets within the manor, caravan and Munster Cottage on Summerleaze Beach and enjoy the fun crazy life of young kids and the wonderful community of Bude.
Why they chose this property
Located in the centre of town, Ebbingford is little known even in Bude. Set quietly back in a secluded area, tucked away from the westerly winds under the lee of Efford Down, making it a wonderful sun trap on those clear days. Jonathan loved growing up here and since travelling the world with his career and living 8 years in Hawaii, Ebbingford and Bude were still where he dreamt of settling and bringing up his family. Being a keen surfer, having Summerleaze beach a few minutes walk around the corner, with it's good reputation for surf is a huge bonus and having stunning coastal walks right on our doorstep is a joy. Bude is a lovely small town with more Cornish attractions not far away, Clovelly, Boscastle, Tintagel Castle, Rock & Padstow just 30 minute drives away.
