About this property

Stunning Grand Country House, Fabulous Sea Views in Llwyngwril Snowdonia (Eryri)

Llechwedd, meaning hillside in English, was built in 1911 and is a former country seat of historical note. The house enjoys outstanding sea views from its elevated position, and is surrounded by extensive private gardens. It is located within the Snowdonia National Park, in the popular coastal village of Llwyngwril. With good transport links along the coast using the Cambrian Railway line, it is close to many of the attractions of this beautiful area of Snowdonia (Eryri) . A perfect spot for cyclists and walkers, the Wales Coastal Path runs along the lane behind the house and Cadair Idris is 5 miles away. Mountain Bike enthusiasts can enjoy Coed y Brenin, with it's world renowned Mountain Bike Centre, as well as the Mawddach Trail. There is a local beach within walking distance, and for families, the traditional seaside town of Barmouth is situated across the estuary. There is a village shop within 150m of the house and a pub 100m away. Close to many filming locations for Hinterland and Under Salt Marsh.

Llechwedd can comfortably sleep 10 persons in 4 bedrooms, all with sea views and dressing room.

Bedroom 1 - King Size Bed
Bedroom 2 - Twin Beds
Bedroom 3 - Single Bed with pull out single bed
Bedroom 4 - Double Bed
Dressing Room (accessed through a bathroom) - Double Futon Style Sofa Bed

There are 2 bathrooms upstairs. Bathroom 1 can be either used as an ensuite with bedroom 1 to create a master suite, or used as a family bathroom. Bathroom 2 is located next to Bedroom 4 and has a dressing room attached.

Downstairs there is a Drawing room with 3 sofas, a cosy multi fuel fire with complimentary logs, and fabulous sea views. The lounge has a sofa, dining table for 10 and again has sea views. Both rooms have tv's and dvd players. We have provided books, cd's, dvd's and board games for children and adults alike.

The breakfast kitchen is well equipped with a kettle, toaster and Nespresso coffee machine. We have a dining table seating 4. Off the breakfast kitchen, the main kitchen has a family sized fan assisted electric range cooker and dishwasher. Off the main kitchen there is a large pantry with a fridge freezer. There is also a downstairs w.c. Externally there is a washing machine and tumble dryer.

The private gardens are a real feature of the house extending to some 1.5 acres. There is a unique turreted garden room, again with lovely sea views to Cardigan bay, and a summer house with adjacent views to Barmouth and the Snowdonia mountain range. Surrounding the house there is a grand terrace, which has several more vantage point views of the sea and mountains. There is a garage, and external parking for up to three cars.

We have refurbished Llechwedd so that it retains all of its original and characterful features, but with every modern convenience you would expect to enjoy, including complimentary wifi and Netflix tv. This is how our guests have described Llechwedd - spotless, grandiose, characterful, quirky, spacious, comfortable. There are few straight lines or chic minimalist layouts to be found. Llechwedd is for guests who appreciate charm and history with modern amenities, yet in a grand Edwardian country house setting.

About the host

Host profile image
We have been together over 20 years now and are lucky to have a daughter. We have always enjoyed travelling, and we realised that as parents, the best quality self catering accommodation was for us better than a stay in a hotel. Over the years we have found the best and worst experiences of staying in owners properties and we have drawn on all this history to ensure everyone who stays with us has the best holiday possible.

Why they chose this property

We both used to holiday in North Wales as children, so the area has special memories for us. Llechwedd combines so many thing that we love - beach, sea, mountains and views all in one property. It has been our dream to own somewhere within the national park, and we have been lucky enough to find this with Llechwedd. We hope you enjoy our home and create your own special memories.

What makes this property unique

Externally we love the appearance of our Edwardian house in the grand style, but it has some unique features apart from it's fabulous hillside location. The garden room is a particular joy as inside it you feel part attached to the house, but also part belonging to the landscape and gardens. There are also so many places inside and outside of the house where you can take in the sea views. There is a lovely look and feel to the house and gardens, and we want our guests to enjoy that same experience.
