Our family spend a good time at Foldgate cottage.
Our family spend a good time at Foldgate cottage. It’s cosy and homely. Rooms are spacious. Beds were comfortable. Kitchen has nice features and well equipped. The dining table was big enough for the 12 of us to sit for dinner with enough number of chairs. Couple of negative points- the towel in the toilet downstairs was not clean. towels need updating, though they were clean .

The cottage was large enough for our party of 12 to be comfortable and set in the most picturesque surroundings. There wasn’t much around but we booked with this knowledge. It was shame that hot tub wasn’t in use as this would have been a great feature however it was beyond the owners control and unavailable due to covid. Although the fixtures and furnishings are slightly dated they are fit for purpose and adequate. I particularly enjoyed the kitchen area. The weather was beautiful whilst we stayed and we enjoyed it.

Our large group of 3 families with 6 children aged 2-11 felt very at home in this lovely house! Plenty of room for everyone. It was rather a flying visit as we were only there for the weekend. We walked to the local shop, made a quick stop at the closest beach. Not much around but that’s exactly what we were looking for. The house itself is beautiful, comfortable, warm and spacious. The rooms were perfect for all the kids. The hot tub was very popular too! I would definitely recommend and love to go back for a longer stay.

As a family of 10 adults 2 children and a dog we all had a fantastic week at Foldgate.
As a family of 10 adults 2 children and a dog we all had a fantastic week at Foldgate. The house is a large farm house with a lovely rustic feel and a traditional country kitchen with plenty of seating around a large table. The kitchen was also well equipped including an Aga which kept the kitchen nice a warm and was kindly topped up with fuel each day by the caretaker. They also provided many leaflets of activities and days out within the area, including many walks from the house over the fells. The house is situated in a very rural and quite area (which we loved) nothing much to do in walking distance. However there are many family activities within an hour’s drive. Must recommend a visit to Old Hall Farm in Bouth, a lovey little petting farm, the owners are happy to interact with guests, it also has a fantastic cafe which sells home made delicious food. Overall we enjoyed our stay very much and would recommend Foldgate.
