The Cottage was comfortable and well equipped. Close to the A66, it was easy to get to and a great base for visiting Keswick and the Northern Lakes. The village is great, with a shop, cafes and pubs that are dog friendly. A very relaxing stay and to top it off we were blessed with a week of fantastic weather!
Lovely, comfortable, very well equipped cottage in a very convenient location which made our Christmas break special.

Stayed here many times. Love Braithwaite and the cottage has a garden and utility/boot room which is helpful. Views are nice. Some bits are a little tired, but overall still nice. Garden needs a bit of tidying and weeding now.

The cottage is ideally located for walking, pubs and places to eat. The main complaint was that there was no landline despite having checked with Cumbrian Cottages prior to arrival. My father-in-law had been taken ill just before our visit and it would gave been much less stressful to have a phone as my mobile didn't have 100% reception. The cottage was very well equipped but the TV was difficult to work out with 2 remotes and vague instructions. Having said this, everywhere was spotless and we enjoyed our stay.

Braithwaite is a good location for walks, however, Croft Cottage is not situated in what we would call an ideal location. It is on a busy road with people and traffic (including double decker buses) passing constantly which does not make it dog friendly; and definitely not the quiet peaceful country cottage we were hoping for. The busy location should be made clear in the description.
The key box was at the back door so we accessed the cottage using this door straight into the kitchen area which was quite spacious and well equipped. However, the kitchen window overlooks neighbours unkempt concrete area, their wheelie bins, their kitchen window and the busy road outside.
Downstairs had an unclean smell about it, furniture dated and room dark - the windows need a good clean. Upstairs was clean, tidy and pleasant but you had to keep the bedroom blind closed due to people/traffic/neighbours overlooking.
Accessing via the front door not clear and needs to be better explained in the description. The key box was at the back door we therefore automatically used this access. When we realised that the front door could be accessed we felt discouraged from doing so by the wheelie bins being parked in the garden gateway and next door's car parked across gateway. From the road you couldn't see this access. There was a garden/yard area accessed by the front door but this was overlooked by the other neighbour's windows. This outside area was shaded with no sunshine at any point in the day. The garden furniture old and uncomfortable. Sorry but very disappointed with this property.
