It also hosts many events and festivals throughout the year including Sixties weekends, Soul weekends, Goth weekends and many more making Whitby a very popular place to visit. There are also a large selection of pubs, quaint antique and gift shops, the infamous fish and chip shops and three miles of golden sandy beach. There are also several restaurants that have won many awards for excellent cuisine especially if you enjoy fish. The tour bus is a great way to get around and to make sure you don’t miss out on everything Whitby has to offer. You could also take a trip out on one of the pleasure boats where you can enjoy a trip around the harbour and out to sea where you can view Whitby in all its glory. Whitby is surrounded by spectacular scenery of the North York Moors which you can enjoy by taking either the Esk valley train that takes you to Middlesbrough stopping at the pretty villages along the way, or the excellent North York Moor steam train that will take you from Whitby to the lovely market town of Pickering stopping off at Goathland otherwise known as ‘Heartbeat Country’. The lovely coastal resorts of Sandsend, Staithes, Runswick Bay and Robin Hoods Bay are all within close proximity and are well worth a visit.

Great location, house filthy.
Greeted by mouse droppings in the kitchen cupboard. Showers were absolutely filthy, mould and grime growing out of the shower head

A lovely, cosy, well-equipped house & well located for all Whitby has to offer.
A lovely, cosy, well-equipped house & well located for all Whitby has to offer. Parking wasn’t a problem - we got a space a bit further up the hill. It’s only a short walk to the west cliffs with stunning views over the harbour & access down to the beach. Lovely place to spend a quiet Christmas.

Good location, parking is a challenge.
Good location, parking is a challenge. Good comfy beds, and nice homely feel to it. Felt the kitchen needed a good clean and the rug in the hallway was dirty. But other than that no problems.

Rosie’s retreat was in the most perfect location you could wish for when staying Whitby.
Rosie’s retreat was in the most perfect location you could wish for when staying Whitby.
The cottage was quaint and cosy however my only issues were that it smelt like wet dog when we arrived (probably due to all the rain we’ve had lately) and the 2nd bed was extremely creaky when a slight movement was made. The wet did smell soon disappeared after I purchased a can on the pet febreeze and gave the house a good spray. We would definitely stay again but would like to see a new bed in 2nd bedroom.

Lovely property, home from home.
Close to all amenities and very quiet.
Also close to the Whitby Office to collect the keys with friendly staff.
We were running late leaving which was not a problem for the staff.

This is a lovely homely cottage very near the centre and the amenities of Whitby.
This is a lovely homely cottage very near the centre and the amenities of Whitby. There was just two of us with our little Cockapoo so there was plenty of room within the cottage. The outside space is a little disappointing particularly as half of it doesn’t belong to the property. There is however “Little Park” just a short walk away if you have a dog. We found finding free spaces in the W Zone parking very difficult even though it was only June. In fact for the first couple of days (weekend) we couldn’t find any spaces and ended up paying for 24hrs in the car park near to the cottage. The rest of the time we did find spaces but never on the same road as the cottage itself. This isn’t really the fault of the cottage itself but is a consideration. Overall, we had a lovely holiday in Whitby where there is such a lot to do on the doorstep and this cottage was a great base.

Been going to Rosie's retreat for the past 5 years & we always love our stay there perfect location & home from home. but our last visit wasn't the best the sofas are getting run down & carpets not so great but the main thing for us was the smell we know it is dog friendly that is why we go there quite often but this time we could smell dog wee quite strong which is very unusual for rosies will not stop us coming back though love the place that much booked it twice already for 2020 xXx

Everything fabulous.
Everything fabulous. My only issue was parking as it is a nightmare in Whitby. It stopped us exploring the area as we were terrified we would not be able to park on return.

We have been many times and Rosie's keeps us coming back! Clean, comfortable and cosy.
We have been many times and Rosie's keeps us coming back! Clean, comfortable and cosy. Well equipped for a week's stay and very convenient for all Whitby has on offer. Parking is an issue for a lot of people but we have always got parked (2 cars) nearby with the scratch cards provided. It is November when we visit so always have the back up of the pay and display areas and the West Cliff car park which are free at that time of year! Would definitely recommend!

Everything just perfect apart from the little courtyard which is dog friendly! Where dogs pee and poo in emergencies. Even though holiday visitors clear up it had a rank smell and green flags!
Nothing a 10minute power jet washer would clear!
Sorry we own dogs too.
We will come back because we loved it.
