We stayed 2 weeks and loved the beautiful area very much! The cottage was all we needed for a comfortable and cozy stay in the Peaks. It is quiet and off the beaten path with amazing walks and towns to explore. Loved it!

Great location for hiking Mam Tor
Cosy, comfy cottage. A few cobwebs but nothing too bad. Electric radiators in all the rooms so heating wasn’t a problem. Me and my brother stayed as it was close to Mam Tor. The host was a character but pleasant enough and left us to it. He lives in the adjoining property so worth considering if you want total privacy. Overall, we enjoyed staying there.

This cottage is damp and mould is present in all rooms except living room. Very, very basic cottage with decor reminiscent of the 1970s. Chipboard wallpaper and anaglypta everywhere which has been painted white so many times it is peeling and brittle. Cooker, fridge and washing machine all very rusted with the damp. Some secondary double glazing helps to keep motorway noise down. One towel each was all that was provided.
Face tiwel in bathroom between us! As i said very basic and certainly no what todays travellers expect. A basic trave lodge provides better accommodation and much better value for money. When we complained to the owners about the damp they responded that "It's not that bad." That's not an acceptable response when you are charging paying customers to stay there I'm afraid! We left early due to these issues and would definitely not recommend a stay there.
We had a superb week at Drum and Monkey Cottage.
The location was ideal as a base for days out. And the ability to walk to shops, pubs and restaurants also meant we had some quieter days without driving anywhere.
The pool was the highlight for the children who spent as much time as they could in the water.

The hosts were warm and friendly and there was a welcoming bottle of wine for us.
The cottage homely and comfortable and was centrally situated for us to use, as a base for walking, with many walks within 20 minutes drive.
We would certainly look to returning again to visit more of the lovely surrounding area

Lovely place to stay and with a pool that my daughter absolutely loved.
Lovely place to stay and with a pool that my daughter absolutely loved. We mostly used the cottage as a base to visit the peaks, chatsworth, heights of abraham etc. Did not experience much of local area because of this and social distancing but seemed nice in passing. Wood definitely stay again.
