The Dairy is situated in Beck Hole, one of Yorkshire’s best kept secrets. The semi-detached cottage has had a newly fitted kitchen in 2022 and sits within the grounds of the owner’s home just a short walk from one of the smallest pubs in the UK, known for its traditional ales and warm friendly welcome. Beck Hole is located deep in the valley with the holiday cottage overlooking the village just a short stroll from the local pub. Stunning valleys and sweeping hillside views can be enjoyed from the idyllic location of the cottage. You could almost be anywhere in the world, close your eyes and listen to the silence interrupted only by bird song. Cycle tracks, bridle paths and walkways abound from the doorstep with quaint little villages popping up when you least expect it.
It is just 1 mile from the well-known village of Goathland best known for its connections with Heartbeat, indeed Hill Farm in which The Dairy sits was used for many of the film shoots. The village green is lined with quaint curio shops, inns and tea rooms serving some of Yorkshire’s finest cuisine. You can board the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Train here and take a memorable journey through the glorious Esk Valley as it steams its way across the valleys into the historic market town of Pickering. The ancient sea port of Whitby is just a short drive over the moors, eight miles, a colourful harbour leads to the three mile stretch of sandy beach overlooked and almost protected by the ancient abbey ruins and St Mary’s church. The brave (and fit) can take the 199 steps up to the abbey ruins where panoramic views over Whitby across to Sandsend can be enjoyed. Explore the smugglers coves of Robin Hoods Bay, Runswick Bay and Staithes or visit the more elegant seaside resort of Scarborough, Britain’s first ever seaside resort. It would take a lifetime to explore the delights on offer in this beautiful part of the world. With country shows and fairs throughout the summer you will be spoilt for choice. Shop and restaurant 1 mile, pub 600 yards.

Amazing cottage, lovely owners and located in our favourite part of the world.
Amazing cottage, lovely owners and located in our favourite part of the world.
Might be a bit isolated for some but we love it up there and the dogs and kids did too (even the 3 year old managed the walks to and from the station, and it's a good walk).
Had a great stay with my family for the weekend. The cottage was very clean and well equipped, the underfloor heating kept us all cosy and we had a thoroughly relaxing time. The hot tub was huge and very clean.
The only negative was when the owners dog barked at night, setting off my dog to bark back, then being told the next day that the dog shouldn’t bark at night! Found this frustrating to be honest but it didn’t spoil our trip. Overall a great place to stay.
Was there for my 60th birthday wiith family and friends best time ever
Couldn't fault it was a beautiful cottage with amazing views and everything you could need will definitely be going back

We booked the cottage so we could have all the family together for my wife's 60th birthday.
We booked the cottage so we could have all the family together for my wife's 60th birthday. It was perfect for the occasion. Set in a peaceful location, an enclosed yard ideal for the dog with a hot tub and plenty of outside furniture. Plenty of amenities specially for the grandchildren including Ps4. Easy to reach the coast and heartbeat country. The Steam train ran past the bottom of the road. The owners could not do enough for us. I fully recommend the Dairy

Brilliant cottage if you want comfort with moorland walking on the doorstep.
Brilliant cottage if you want comfort with moorland walking on the doorstep. It suited 3 generations and two dogs perfectly. Super walks from the door and great to relax in a hot tub when you return with aching legs. All the amenities of Whitby an easy drive away, Goathland a hilly walk but very accessible and steam trains run nearby (when not locked down). The owners really made us welcome - we didn’t want to go home.

My family and i stayed here for my birthday weekend.
My family and i stayed here for my birthday weekend. It was perfect for couple nights away. The buck bed wasn’t ideal for 7 1/2 adults but we knew this when booking. The location is idyllic and hosts were friendly and helpful. The WiFi drops occasionally but this is to be expected with the location. The beds were comfy and the property was clean

For us the cottage was fabulous and had everything we could wish for.
For us the cottage was fabulous and had everything we could wish for. There was not a lot in Beck Hole itself but we knew that before we went, but we went for the walking and scenery and the tiny pub is well worth a visit. It was quite expensive for the 3 nights but at the end of the day you get what you pay for and the people who own the property were lovely. I would definitey recommend it and would go back for another visit. The hot tub was scruplously clean and treated every morning.
