About this property

Location! Centrally located, 1.8 miles to downtown, mountain and river views

Location! Location! Location! Enjoy your deck at beautiful Bluebird Sanctuary, on a hill overlooking the French Broad River, New Belgium Brewery, River Arts District, and mountains in the background. Park your car and relax in fun West Asheville. Centrally located, you can forget parking hassles downtown. Only 1.8 miles away, you can walk, bike, or take the bus (two blocks away) to downtown. It is approximately a 20 minute walk or 5-minute drive.

Guests have the entire lower floor to themselves with private entrance, living room, bath, kitchen, and library–bedroom with a queen size bed. The private deck is perfect for enjoying morning coffee or an evening cocktail. The rooms have spacious high ceilings, and filled with antiques, original art, and photography. Kick off your shoes for an acupressure massage on the river rock floors in the luxurious bathroom.

The kitchen has a stainless fridge, microwave, dishwasher, cook top, coffee maker and organic coffee. All linens are provided, along with an iron, shampoo, conditioner, soap, and hairdryer. The home is well taken care of with all high-end comfortable furnishings. You will also find backgammon, dominos, and cards. We love our occasional nesting bluebirds, and some of our art reflects our affection.

You will receive my list of entertainment venues and restaurants with the websites so you can look things up before you get here. These listings separate which restaurants are nearby, in other neighborhoods, or downtown.

Stroll downhill one block for a brew in the beautiful new New Belgium Brewery “Liquid Center” (tasting room), or kayak down the river.

Walk two blocks across the river to the River Arts District to visit open artist studios or the Wedge Brewing Co., hear live music at the Grey Eagle Music Hall, or eat at the well-known BBQ joint 12 Bones (Obama’s favorite). Walk towards the heart of West Asheville and grab breakfast at Taco Billys, OWL Bakery (Old World Levain) or dine at the top-rated restaurant The Admiral. Carrier Park is nearby, where you can fish, walk, or run on the track. Several kayak and canoe rentals are nearby.

You will need a car to venture further out to explore the mountains, beautiful waterfalls, hiking trails, and quaint surrounding towns. Be cruising the Blue Ridge Parkway or strolling the Biltmore Estate in about 10 minutes.
