Check in was super easy. The kitchen was great and had everything you could think of and everything you might need. i'm so glad we found this place so close to the lakes. the hosts are so generous and we felt so comfortable. Thank you!
I just love it here. Second time staying. Access to lakes is SO convenient. Our host, Dee, was wonderful. Hope to return often, and SOONER. Just a perfect spot for three guys fishing from Kayaks
Lovely stay. So homey. So cozy. We stayed for 2 weeks and loved every minute. Adorable fish theme throughout. Dee is an amazing host who goes the second mile to make you feel at home. We have stayed many places, but this one is the best! We are hoping to make this an annual thing.

Carl and Bonnie were wonderful guests, friendly and honest. Allowed electrician to update a fixture during their stay, and left the apartment in great condition. I highly recommend them to other hosts as it is comforting to know they are the guests in your space.
The apartment was great! The themed decor was cozy and super cute. There were games and dvds and anything you could think of if you needed a snack or a bandaid or a blow dryer. Hosts were very pleasant and accommodating and it was less than 15 minutes from Otter Creek Nature Preserve, a drive-in theater, and Alexandria Bay. Overall I’d give our stay a 4.75/5 and my only issues were: being woken up at 1:30am from the firehouse sirens around the corner (not to the fault of the home owners) and when I initially booked I had thought it was a waterfront property so I was surprised once we received the actual address, but that was my fault. Everything else was great!

I'm so sorry about the volunteer fire department. I will add it to our listing description, and make sure there is no confusion about the lake location. I hope you find a better stay in our area; many here to explore.
My husband and I are in a band that was playing in Thousand Island Park for the 4th of July weekend. Everything was sold out, so we booked this not knowing anything about Redwood or its proximity to TIP. We have stayed in a lot of properties in a lot of cities, but I can honestly say this is one of the nicest, most comfortable, and well appointed homes we have ever stayed in. No detail was overlooked. Dee and Bill are wonderful hosts, responsive, and even left us a delicious homemade treat, in addition to a very well stocked refrigerator and pantry. We are looking forward to staying there again in two weeks when we play another gig at TIP!

Thank you for your kind words. Wonderful couple, friendly, very respectful, and treated the apartment with care. Strongly recommend them to other hosts.
My husband is a drummer for a well known party band and had gigs on two different weekends in Thousand Island Park. Everything was booked, so we ended up here…and I am so glad we did. Dee and Bill are the quintessential hosts. The place is spotless and set up like a little house with everything (and I mean everything) you could possibly need. Snacks? The refrigerator and cupboard are filled, and Dee leaves a delicious homemade treat as well. Entertainment? There’s an extensive library of DVDs, books, and games. Fishing? There’s a pretty lake a 5-minute walk away. We will be staying here whenever we have shows in the area, even if there’s availability closer.

Thank you for being great guests. We will be glad to have you back again.
The Vrbo was just as advertised. It had everything you would need and things you didn’t know you needed. Dee left us a loaf of delicious banana bread. Check in was easy, the bed very comfortable and lots of room with a well stocked kitchen. We will definitely stay here when we visit Ft. Drum again.
Nicely decorated and comfortable apartment with all the amenities you could need. Owner was friendly, easy to communicate with and attentive to our needs. The kitchen space was perfect for cooking our meals and we enjoyed the nice fire pit area outside. Easy drive to local attractions.
We had a wonderful stay. It was cozy and comfortable. The location was perfect for our needs. We had no problem getting to Clayton and Wellesley Island. Dee had everything we needed. My Mom especially loved the flannel sheets. We would gladly stay here again.

Catherine called and texted me to say she was so upset that the support persons would not allow her to change the rating to 5 star. Her words are her intended review, not the # of stars. I appreciate her genuine, honest follow-up. A wonderful guest.
The perfect apartment for a fishing getaway, with a host that was very accommodating.
The decor was perfectly fitting and appreciated for a fisherman’s getaway. Our host was very accommodating and left many many pleasantries throughout the apartment (snacks, beverages, dvds, menus, soaps and shampoo’s) - it was all great. The location is convenient for all the fishing you could ask for, plus trails, wineries, and a downtown scene. We would love to stay again!

Great guests, thanks for treating our space as your own.
Provided more than enough of everything! Hosts kind and communicative. They even provided an extra homemade treat (wow). One tiny flaw in this older building…if you are a large person the commode may be an awkward or tight fit. Would gladly stay there again

Thank you for your cleanliness. It's so much easier to prep following the enhanced cleaning when I don't have to stop and scrub stains or dried spills. And I am having a contractor change the toilet size and tub surround. Problem is not enough time between guests to do so until September.
Thank you. I would highly recommend you to any other host.
It’s labeled as an apartment but it does not feel that way! Spacious downstairs and very large bedroom upstairs was prefect for 3 adults. Heat could be a little tricky to kick on but fishing was wonderful and Denise was nothing less than a wonderful host.

Thanks again. Your family is what we created the little fishing camp for – we were always an avid fishing family and traveled up every weekend until we had a chance to move here, and did. Now we want to give others a place to come for their weekend getaways, and of course fishing. You will all be welcomed back anytime. It's hard to please everyone with temperatures, I will leave instructions for the heat control in the future. (usually on and ready once fall weather hits)
The apartment was clean and well furnished. It has all the comforts of home; hair dryer, microwave, k-cup brewer, a desk with paper, games, DVDs, and a medicine cabinet filled with anything you may have forgotten/need. My son loved the snack basket and candy dishes! We would definitely stay here again!
It had everything we needed for our stay. Super comfy king bed upstairs. Proximity to Alex Bay was great (8 min drive). Hosts thought of every little thing travelers might need or appreciate! Short walk to a lovely lake down the road. Hosts easy to contact if needed. I highly recommend it!!

Thank you for your comments, you were equally lovely and are recommended to other hosts as perfect guests
The apartment was very clean and well stocked with amenities. The king size bed was very comfortable. Dee was easy to reach went needed. She is a very good host.
This is the second year my family has stayed and I cannot stress enough how amazing Denise is. The house is perfect for a small group (4ish). It’s always very clean and very homey. My father stayed on this past trip with friends and everyone had an excellent week fishing and were very comfortable. Denise is an excellent host! She is very welcoming, accommodating and kind. We will definitely be back!

About the host
Hosted by Dee Boyer
Long Term Care RN, began this a bnb in preparation for retirement. She and husband enjoy hosting, offering an alternative setting of VERY SIMPLE accommodations for fishermen and families traveling to or through the area. Friends and family have found it difficult reserving camps on the lakes as so many are booked early, and quite costly. Our goal is to make visiting our beautiful area's lakes and waterways a comfortable and affordable experience.
Why they chose this property
We moved to Redwood (husband's hometown) and started A Simple Roof 20 years later to offer a rustic camping experience within walking distance to the lake with free space to park and charge boats, ATVs, RVs, and tents. We provide a quiet small town atmosphere, simple, clean, private accommodations; like going to a grandparent's or summer camp.
What makes this property unique
Host lives on other side of duplex, ready to assist as needed. Can offer suggestions for area activities, fast food, fine dining. Co-host can provide fishing tips for nearby rivers/streams, lakes - ice fishing, or surface/trolling.
