About this property

Total Beachfront, free bottle sparkling wine

This beachside property is situated only 30 minutes from Hobart city centre. Situated on Glenvar beach with private access to beach below. Self contained cottage complete with all kitchen appliances, including oven, microwave, BBQ, slow cooker and sandwich maker. A cosy wood heater with plenty of wood provided. A Daiken heat pump and aircon recycle pump has now been installed. Watch the cruise ships and yachts come up the river ,you may glimpse a pod of dolphins playing just on 'your' doorstep. Fishing gear and kayak with 2 small life jackets are kept on the property as are plenty DVDs, games ,sing star and puzzles. A local RSL where you can get inexpensive but great meals. A local corner store for all everyday needs. All in all a magic place any time of year.
Please note the bed configuration before booking: It has 3 bedrooms, 2 with double bed in each, 1 with a single set of bunks

Please note: Cost is $350 per night 7 days a week $50 per person extra per night after the first 2 people

Easter, Christmas period, January and February the rates will be higher due to the peak time

Cosy Beach Shack with Amazing Views!

Our stay wasn't long enough! Absolute beachfront - we had the beach to ourselves, stunning views, and all the amenities and more than we needed. Erica, is a great host. We will be back.

Our Beach Break

Our stay at Erica’s beach house was just perfect. The property is perfectly located and offered us a slice of tranquility in our hectic schedules yet at the same time we enjoyed beach walks, fishing and everything that nearby Hobart had to offer. Erica was wonderful to deal with and made our stay both memorable and convenient. Definitely would love to return to Opossum Bay!

We really enjoyed our stay at Opossum Bay. The beds were comfortable, lovely crisp linen, the bathroom was clean and spacious, and there were thoughtful touches everywhere. Sitting out on the deck watching the water was mesmerizing.

We had such a lovely stay! The location is beautiful and it was just perfect for a weekend getaway. The house was clean, tidy and very comfortable. We unfortunately left our kindle behind but the owner let us know straight away and we organised to collect it so that was great! We'll definitely be back :)

I am recently semi retired retail jewellery store owner for over 20 years
Darts Jewellers was a well known loved local jewellery store which was a family business for over 60 years. Since leaving the business in 2015 I have enjoyed 2 significant trips travelling Australia, but love nothing more than coming back to Hobart! I have 2children, boy and girl in their twenties. I have always lived in Hobart and have spent many years in the Opossum Bay area, where my mother and grandmother both having shacks in the area as well

Why they chose this property

I spotted this property whilst out walking with my parents and immediately fell in love with the spectacular position with uninterrupted views of the Derwent River and of course beautiful Glenvar Beach, with its easy access and quiet calm waters, ideal for hot summer days

What makes this property unique

total beachfront, breathtaking views, kitchen overlooks the beach, total self contained with all the equipment of a house, kayak and fishing gear, indoor and outdoor wood heater, heat pump and aircon if required, DVDs, singstar and a genuine 1980s fully working records jukebox, great 80S music!
