The house sits on a huge 3 acre block, complete with its' own rain forest and rolling green pastures. Share your breakfast with a kookaburra. sometimes they take up pole position on the verandah. The pantry is stocked with olive oil, balsamic vinegar, vegemite, loose tea and Twinnings tea bags, salt and pepper grinders, Nespresso coffee machine and coffee pods, as well as coffee sachets.
The Retreat is your own private sanctuary. The check in check out times can sometimes be quite flexible, as you liaise with the owner.

Tamborine Mountain is part of the Scenic Rim. It has a unique climate and peculiar ecosystem which supports much diversity of fauna and flora. It boasts a tropical hinterland that must be experienced to be believed. Everywhere you turn you will see mountains. Australia's most accessible World Heritage-listed rainforests are spread throughout the 8 National Parks of the Scenic Rim. Witches Falls is the oldest National park in Qld ( 1908). The natural landscape is stunning! A variety of beautiful birds forage on the plant life and glo worms, luxurious fungi and other nocturnal creatures benefit from the minimum street lighting on the Mountain.
There is much to do and see:
The National Parks provide many days of exploration and enjoyment for bush walkers and bird watchers. Off the Mountain, 30 minutes drive away, conveniently located on the M1 motorway, are 2 Fun Parks. Wet & Wild. The new corkscrew water slide sends riders on rafts through an enclosed tube at speeds of up to 30 kmph. It is claimed to be the highest banking tubes in the world.!! Dreamworld, also located on the M1 motorway is home to the Sumatran Tigers. they star in this headline act in 30 hectare fun park. Given their dwindling numbers, this is a memorable experience. If you are a daredevil, you can hitch a ride with a local hang glider, or you can be an onlooker. Meander down Gallery Walk, a run of intriguing shops, restaurants, art galleries. If food and wine are more to your taste, visit the Cheese Factory, or The Belgian Chocolate Shop, or the boutique breweries and distilleries There are locally grown organic veggies, native flowers or a coffee on offer in the local area.
Latest News: The Shed near the golf course is open Friday and Sunday for fresh-grown Mountain produce. they are now stocking Tamborine Mountain locally produced eggs. Stay for 2 days and you will feel like you have been on holiday for a week. A truly blissful experience. One guest has decided to write a book on site given the tranquility of the location.

Mountain Magic
This is a well set up house for a family getaway. Close to everything and presented smartly. Lovely comfy beds, an efficient heating and cooling system and just beautifulily positioned to make the most of those amazing views.
Yes, there are some small maintenance issues but what house doesn't have those; and yes I would have liked to find basic staples like salt in the pantry, but perhaps previous occupiers had removed them.
. We had a great stay even with less than perfect weather and I'm sure any future users will enjoy the hospitality of the owners as well as the house itself.
We enjoyed our stay at the retreat. The house was clean and tidy and had everything we needed and then some and Daryl was very helpful and a good host.
The only negative we had was that we actually booked the house originally because we wanted to bring our dog. However, we did not realise the property was NOT suitably fenced till we got there (I simply assumed it would be) which meant we were constantly checking she did not roam or fall off the cliff at the back of the property. :(

This is not a luxury retreat
The photos of this property make it look like a luxury retreat. The very high price also suggests you will enjoy a high quality property. Both are very misleading.
This place is really only an average property dressed up to be luxury.
It is more accurately someone's "weekender" that is in the process of renovation.
It was dusty and full of old cob webs, it was full of mismatched second hand chip board furniture and full of mosquitoes that swarmed in through holes in fly screens.
This is not worth the money charged and is not a luxury experience.
Overall a very disappointing experience.

Michael, Thank you for your feedback. I was disappointed to hear that The Retreat did not live up to your expectations. I have had very happy guests stay, and i am very proud of my cleaning team who maintain a very high standard. I will forward your comments on to them. The 2 fly screens you mentioned have been attended to. Your comments are not reflected in the feedback i receive from return visitors. Thank you, Trish. .

Extremely Negative Experience - Full Refund Required
An important occasion had been booked and paid for several months in advance at “The Retreat Tamborine Mountain”. The event had been preplanned for months with the preparation of expensive cuisines and beverages, also including significant travel expense for family members arriving from various locations. Unfortunately, the gathering was completely ruined by a failed water system. There was no running water, being absolutely imperative to facilitate a successful function, not to mention guest's incapable of being able to shower. Unacceptable for a five-star holiday retreat.
Several calls and messages in an attempt to contact the Property Manager with no prompt response, it was necessary to find an immediate solution on our accord. We arranged for a local water service authority to arrive at the property and perform an onsite inspection at our expense. To no avail as he advised this was a technical issue outside of his expertise.
The Property Manager finally returned our calls to relay a series of instructions in order to resolve the absence of running water. Nothing worked. Back and forth calls later, the Proprietor called and informed us that a hydro technician would be onsite to remedy the situation. By the time the problem was resolved, the planned event had passed. Unfortunately, all too little, all too late, all very disappointing.
As the evening grew tiresomely long, the water was now running so at least the guest’s could now shower... or so we thought. There was now no hot water. Further calls to the Property Manager, further remedial instructions that guest’s had to perform, we learned how to reestablish the hot water reticulation. Unfortunately, the hot water wouldn’t circulate for a few more hours, at which point guest’s were beginning to retire for the evening and resigned to the fact that hot showers weren’t a reality until the following day – our departure day. Completely unacceptable in the middle of freezing winter.
While the Property Manager and Proprietor where both polite and apologetic, unfortunately these failings are entirely unacceptable for a five-star rated holiday retreat. In the spirit of five-star service, compensation will be required in the form of a full refund.
The Property manager has advised that the Proprietor will be in touch. There has been no return call.
This exercise has caused immeasurable distress to the host. An exorbitant expenditure for an extremely negative experience.

Hi there,
I am truly sorry that there was a failure of the pump providing water to the house on the Sunday morning. The pump was repaired within the hour restoring water to house. As I mentioned in my private email to you, this was a one off situation, and I look forward to welcoming you back with view to compensating you. Our aim is to look after our guests to the best of our ability at all times.
Excellent place to come with friends or family plenty of space to find your own piece of paradise.
Close to everything.
Great host full of great ideas and information.
Thanks for a wonderful weekend.
Thank you so much for the most beautiful property to stay at as we celebrated our sons wedding nearby. The property is immaculate and the views spectacular. Thanks to Daryl for making the checkin process so simple and for being wonderful with communicating through this time of uncertainty due to the Pandemic. Thank you once again definitely would stay there again even if it was just to getaway for a few days. Thanks again we had a wonderful stay.

Karen, thank you so very much for the compliments, I am so thrilled that you enjoyed your stay, and yes I would love to welcome you here again sometime.
What an amazing property.
I booked a week here with a group of mates from Uni, and we had an amazing time. The property itself is stunning, with amazing views and great facilities. We had the fireplace going every night without any fear of the generous supply of wood running out. We made use of the giant backyard, throwing around balls and frisbees. The main living and kitchen area easily accommodated our whole group of 8 for board games and lounging, yet there are plenty of hideaways and seats throughout the property to get away from it all. I’ve rated this 5 stars in every category simply because it deserves it! Big cheers to Darryl who was super friendly upon our arrival, but never intrusive. My one and only disappoint was that we didn’t book for longer…
All these reviews are true! What are ya waiting for?
Great position close to most venues walking distance to some.
House is tired kitchen etc only issue was the glass in the bedroom for keeping the cold out(arcon didnt warm room) and sun out in the morning manager was excellent good communication we enjoyed it for a short stay and being pet friendly was the best part for us.
Every time we stay here we fall in love with this place. The setting is beautiful, looking out onto rolling acreage from the balcony, at night the glitter of city lights, and in the morning a glorious panoramic sunrise. Daryl is charming, nothing is too much trouble for him. Everything is provided including lots of firewood. We are looking forward to staying again, including our border collie.
