"Omaroo House" close to City, with secure parking.
Summary:
"Omaroo House", an 1850s heritage cottage beautifully renovated to blend historic charm with modern comfort. A stunning rear extension adds space and style while preserving the original façade. Located on the edge of Hobart’s CBD in the heritage precinct of sought-after West Hobart, it’s just a 5–10 minute walk to the city, Salamanca, and Constitution Dock.
The Space:
Entry to the cottage is via the original sitting/lounge room with a classic leather lounge suite and a gas heater to keep you cosy and warm in winter. To add to your enjoyment there are many books on the bookshelf and a variety of board games in the chest. Next to this room is the original bedroom still retaining the original 1850's timber ceiling and a bed warmer from that period as a decoration on the wall. There is a Queen size bed and an old-style dresser in keeping with the original cottage.
From the sitting/lounge room via the original 1850's back door, you go from old to new, where the rest of the property has just been renovated and extended. Your eyes will be immediately taken to the lovely open lounge, dining and kitchen area with stunning panoramic views of the Derwent River and hills. You will see yachts racing a couple of days of the week and cruise ships regularly in the warmer months. Both the dining and lounge areas have these magnificent views set off by a beautiful timber ceiling.
The new kitchen is spacious, fully equipped with a microwave, gas cooktop, and dishwasher that caters to all needs. The dining table seats six and is perfectly positioned to maximise the views.
From the lounge/dining area you walk onto the deck where you have no choice but to just relax, read a book or have a drink and enjoy the views. There is a BBQ and as the deck is covered it can be used all year round.
Two bedrooms have queen sized beds and the third bedroom has a single bed and a rollout trundle bed.
"Omaroo House" is child friendly having a portacot, highchair and a separate bath.
The lovely timber side door takes you out to a lovely large garden, again with panoramic views of the Derwent River and plenty of space for kids (or adults) to play. The outdoor table and chairs are another dining option or picnic on the lawn, reading a book or having a wine.

It's was an amazing stay. The people managing the property were wonderful. Only faults I would say is that I was surprised there was no internet, especially because of the location. That made things difficult with kids. Also no dryer. It would have been nice to have dry clothes rather then leave with wet clothes to pack. The actual house was beautiful and was a mix of modern and traditional. Loved sitting out on the verandah in the morning with the sun rise and enjoying breakfast. Or watching the sun set with all the lovely view aspects.

An elegantly renovated 3 bedroom house located a short (steep) walk away from the city. Beautiful views await from the kitchen/living room and deck. Very happy with our stay.

Magnificent views
Excellent would definitely stay again. Thanks for the use of this property. Colin Wood
Great house and garden in great spot in hillside suburb.
Five over 60s had a lovely stay in Omaroo House. The house was very comfortable with an airy new extension at the rear with fabulous views over Hobart. Probably better for two couples as the single bed was more suited to a child. You definitely need a car unless you’re in training for the Himalayas. Close to great restaurants.
Omaroo House provides the perfect location to explore the city of Hobart and its surrounds while being able to come home and relax in comfort.

Great allrounder
We were impressed as soon as we walked in. Was a fantastic home base for our visit. So warm and cosy, very clean and plenty space for the 3 of us, would easily suit a family, a few couples or group of friends. Beautiful view from the dining table, so relaxing. Also a large yard. Beds were so comfortable. Much nicer than motel and very reasonable price. Will stay there again. There is a big hill if you are on foot, but the rest of it made up for the hill.
Wi-Fi would be good but we worked around that. Thanks.

Good family house
The house was comfortable, especially the beds and linen. The kitchen was really well equipped so cooking dinner was a breeze. It was great to have a washing machine but a dryer was really needed with Hobart weather. Our only problem with this house was the real estate. Check in was fine but when attempting to check out they were closed! We tried calling and calling but the paging service kept saying they could only help in an emergency. In the end the office lady arrived at the office at 10:25am. There needs to be a better system for travellers using short term holiday stays.

This picture perfect place, was a highlight of our stay in Hobart. The view was amazing whether in the morning with the sunrise or at night with the lights of the town. The home was very comfortable, heating was great and the water in the shower hot. Thank you

Excellent Place and Location
What a great place!!!
Fabulous views of the Derwent River from the dining room, kitchen, main bedroom and the backyard. We opened the main bedroom curtains each morning and relaxed in the bed enjoying the view having a cuppa. The dining table was positioned perfectly to always enjoy these views. We also enjoyed watching the yachts sailing on the river and often sat outside with a glass of wine at the end of the day.
Excellent location, we walked to the city, Constitution Dock, Salamanca Market, Hill St grocer and Elizabeth St North Hobart that had lots of great places to eat or have a drink. When we did drive it only took a couple of minutes to get to all these places.
The beds were very comfortable and the owners have thought of everything you need including games and lots of brochures on sights around Hobart and Tassie.
We had 2 cars and there was plenty of room to park at the rear of the house so it was very easy to get our luggage in and out of the house.
The booking process was easy and Chellem was very helpful including local giving local info.
We loved this place and plan to be back very soon.

Cosy and Comfortable
We really enjoyed our stay at Omaroo House and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. A bit smaller than the pictures really show, but it had everything we needed and felt just like home! This house is obviously well loved and cared for, it was immaculately clean, everything in its place and is well looked after and in great condition. The views are beautiful and the outside yard was nice for the kids, though would be better if it was fenced on 4 sides! LOVED the beds, so comfy and snug in the bedding provided, we all slept just as well as we do at home! Beautiful furniture and nice little extras - books to read, Tassie fudge on the beds!! Owner was quick to respond to emails and answered all our questions prior to our stay. We stayed with 2 adults and 2 children; 7 yrs and 18 months and found it fitted our needs perfectly! Great location, but hard to get anywhere on foot with those amazing Tassie hills!! Would definitely stay there again.
