Discover a slice of history with our beautifully renovated former Post Office, a hidden gem built in 1904. This charming property has been carefully restored, preserving its original clapboard walls and wood floors, while offering all the modern comforts you need for a memorable beachside escape.

Located just steps away from the picturesque Catherine Hill Bay beach, families with children or pets will appreciate the large fenced yard, providing a safe and secure space for outdoor play.

With three spacious bedrooms and an open plan living area, By The Beach comfortably accommodates up to eight guests. Two bedrooms boast comfortable queen beds, ensuring a restful night's sleep. The third bedroom is perfect for families or groups, featuring a queen bed and a single bunk bed.

You can start enjoying your vacation from the moment you arrive, as all linen is provided and the beds are made up for your convenience. Bath towels, a bath mat, and tea towels are also included. Just remember to bring your own beach towels for those sun-soaked days by the shore.

The heart of our home is the open plan kitchen and dining area, inviting you to create delicious meals and share memorable moments with your loved ones. A comfortable lounge area, complete with a cozy combustion fireplace, sets the stage for relaxing evenings and cozy gatherings. Step outside onto the wide wrap-around verandah, where you'll find a large outdoor setting and BBQ. This inviting space is perfect for alfresco dining and unwinding while enjoying the gentle sea breeze.

Our property is equipped with essential amenities to enhance your stay. Stay entertained with a TV, DVD player, Apple TV/Netflix/Stan, and a sound system with Bluetooth connectivity. Stay connected with wireless internet, allowing you to share your vacation experiences with friends and family. The property features one shower, two toilets, and a charming claw foot bath, adding a touch of luxury to your beachside retreat.

Note: While we warmly welcome outdoor pets, we kindly request that indoor pets are not accommodated.

Guests have access to the whole house and gardens.

There will be some ongoing building work taking place next door in the upcoming months. As a result, we feel it is important to notify you in advance that there may be occasional noise disturbances during weekdays.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and assure you that we will do our best to minimize the impact on your stay. Our team will work diligently to ensure your comfort and provide a pleasant experience despite the circumstances.

Catherine Hill Bay is a small coastal village located in New South Wales. Known for its pristine beaches and historical significance, it offers a charming blend of natural beauty and cultural heritage.

The township is named after the "Catherine Hill" a two masted wooden topsail schooner built at Wisemans Ferry in 1866. Catherine Hill ran aground on the beach between Bird Island Point and Lake Macquarie, during a fierce gale. The beach and bay where the shipwreck occurred was later named Catherine Hill Bay in commemoration of the wreck. The owner of the ship was Captain Hill.

The town's iconic jetty, surrounded by picturesque cliffs, provides a stunning backdrop for visitors to enjoy the atmosphere and indulge in various outdoor activities such as swimming, surfing, and fishing. Catherine Hill Bay is known as one of 'Australia's 101 Best Beaches'.

While in Catherine Hill Bay, a visit to the famous 'Catho Pub' is a must, offering a relaxed ambiance for enjoying drinks or a fantastic meal. Sunday evenings come alive with live bands, perfect for those seeking a lively atmosphere. Additionally, the pub features a dedicated kids play area.

Catherine Hill Bay is a secluded village therefor bus and taxi services are sparse. Walking is easy to the beach as it is a short walk to the beach.

This home is exclusively booked for your use and is professionally cleaned before your arrival. We offer contactless check-in and check-out for a safe stay.

Neighbour Policy: No parties or excessive noise allowed as per NSW Short-Term Letting Legislation and Local Council Laws. Failure to comply may result in police-assisted eviction or additional charges. Respect our neighbours' right to quiet enjoyment. A noise monitor and security camera may be present, but they will not be accessed unless alerted of any issues by neighbours or calls.

Prior to your arrival, please ensure that you fill out our check-in form. This form will request photo identification and evidence of credit card ownership. Additionally, please be aware that a $500 security deposit will be required. This deposit will be refunded upon inspection of the property upon your departure. Please be advised that it may take a few days for your bank to return the funds to your card, which is beyond our control.

Please complete a check-in form with your home address, email, and a copy of your Driver's License for identification. The maximum number of guests is stated in your booking, and additional visitors must be approved in writing by Lakeshores staff.

The reservation price is based on a minimum of (4) guests. Additional guests are charged per person per night. Reductions in guest numbers are non-refundable. Please enter the correct number of guests (children under 2 are free) when booking.

We aim to be eco-friendly. Basic toiletries may be provided, but it is recommended to bring your own. Hand wash and basic kitchen essentials will be supplied. Linen is provided, but please bring your own towels for pools, lakes, or beaches.

Insurance: We recommend obtaining Domestic Travel Insurance to cover emergencies, event cancellations, and situations not eligible for refunds as per our Terms & Conditions.

Construction will be underway during 4 April to 17 September due to Upgrades to storm water and kerb and service relocation work. Some disturbances may occur Monday to Friday 7am to 5pm and Saturdays 7am to 1pm) Sorry for the inconvenience however this is out of our control.

• The host will not be held responsible for issues outside of their control, ie poor weather, power blackouts, insects ie mosquitoes or sandflies, spiders etc, internet or appliance failure or activities not directly in control of Lakeshores Accommodation. We will, of course, endeavour to rectify any issue should one arise however we cannot be held liable for such events. We must be given an opportunity to resolve any issues or move you to another of our properties before requesting any refunds.

• NOTE - All of our homes are treated regularly for pest control by qualified technicians but unfortunately living on the Australian coast some of these are expected in the area.

• The hot water is not continuous and excess use may result in this running out if the amount of hotwater in the tank is exceeded and may result in a period of time without hot water.

A perfect family weekend away
We loved our weekend at 'By The Beach at Catho'. Our teenagers enjoyed walking across the road to go spear fishing each day. We took long walks on the beach and spent time as a family sitting around on the back deck. The outdoor shower was super handy and the hammock was heavily fought over. We'll definitely be back!

What a gem of a property By the Beach at Catho is. With its location directly opposite the beach, it is the perfect spot for a beach holiday. The house is well-appointed and filled with charm. We experienced the ultimate in relaxation and rejuvenation. The house itself is one of the better-appointed accommodations, with everything you need to cook, entertain and enjoy the space. Other conveniences, such as great internet, a good-sized TV, games and plenty of spaces to enjoy were appreciated. Catherine Hill Bay and the surrounds doesn’t have a lot of eating out options, but there’s a terrific seafood market in Swansea and once you’ve got your supplies, you don’t need to go elsewhere. It’s a self-contained holiday space. The house was clean, linen comfortable and plenty of towels to see the week through.

Fantastic beach house right across the from the beach!
This is the third time we have stayed here and it is a fabulous house just across the rd from the beach. Beautiful back garden with deck and perfect for sundowners! Comfy beds and a super efficient fireplace for those chilly winter nights. Highly recommend this home!
