Bluegill Bungalow is the perfect retreat for rest, relaxation and rejuvenation! Surrounded by over five acres of natural beauty, you will enjoy nature walks, bird watching(occasional Bald Eagle sightings) or just relaxing in a hammock with a good book. Paddle a kayak down the water slough(seasonal) and out to the open lake Livingston for a fun and therapeutic afternoon adventure!
Enjoy dining alfresco with an outdoor breakfast, lunch or dinner on the patios. A propane gas grill is available to prepare your favorite grilled recipes! Relax in the outdoor covered living area with ceiling fans and take in the sunrise or sunset.
Inside the bungalow, you will find open-concept living showcasing the fully-equipped kitchen with breakfast bar, dining area and main living room with rustic stone fireplace. Complimentary Coffee/Tea service is provided as well as bottled water.
The living room sleeper sofa can accommodate an additional sleeping area for up to two additional guests(total of 6 guests).
The "Blue" master bedroom suite has a queen-sized sleeping bed with double nightstands and an armoire. The adjoining private master bath suite showcases a luxurious free-standing jacuzzi bath, standing corner shower, separate dual vanities and an enclosed water closet.
The "Brown" master bedroom suite has a queen-sized sleeping bed, night stands & dresser, and an adjoining private master bath suite, which provides a large standing shower, a single vanity sink with extended countertop, a built-in closet space for guest use as well as the stackable washer/electric dryer.

Great place to stay!! Very relaxing and quiet. The house was beautiful and comfortable. In the front we saw a fox and 4 deer. In the back we saw a heard of cattle and 2 donkeys chasing/playing with a dog. . It was too cold to play in the creek. But they had kayaks for use. Highly recommend

Very nice location for a peaceful getaway for the weekend. The home was exactly like the pictures. The kayak launch was a little tricky due to low water level but we made it work and able to watch the sunset. Howard was very communicative and responsive.

Bluegill Bungalow was super clean and comfortable! We appreciated all the outside seating including the double hammock. The property was beautiful, especially the front garden with fountain. There are several kayaks for use, but ask ahead of time if the water is high enough behind the house. Otherwise, you can’t kayak out to the open lake. We saw eagles, hawks and egrets and just enjoyed the peace and serenity here. This is a great little getaway!

Peaceful oasis

The cottage is like a peaceful oasis away from the Frey. While we didn’t take advantage of the kayaks I hope to come back with my spouse soon and. Take them out on the lake.

Beautiful property, enjoyable surroundings. The mattresses on both beds were worn and dated; did not match the quality of the rental for the price. The jacuzzi tube was dated and not representative of the posting of the property. Everything else was amazing and well appreciated. I have stayed in several VRBO and would rate this the number one place to stay if simple improvements were made. I was not aware that a self contained fire pit was not allowed in the property. Was not able to find on the property posting. I understand the request and always comply to rules. If I would have known this was the case I wouldn’t have booked the property. My kind suggestion would be to make it clear on the posting as to avoid future confusion’s. Thank you

my husband and i loved this little bungalow jewel tucked away in the woods of Coldspring! Everything was perfect - the house is cozy, spotless and decor is perfect lakeside! The kitchen had everything we needed to cook and enjoy our meals. Comfortable beds, perfect bathrooms, cozy couch!The front porch is perfect place to watch for the deer in the morning and evening. The full moon and a sky full of stars made evenings on the awesome front porch perfect. We will be visiting again soon!

Peaceful Weekend Getaway

From the moment we arrived, we knew this would be the peaceful weekend we needed. The place was clean and had all the amenities needed for our stay. Peaceful and Beautiful Landscape

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the bungalow. The house is surrounded by a generous expanse of grass and trees in the front and a slough with sloping terrain in the back. Very private. My husband and I enjoyed watching birds from very comfortable furniture on the front porch. Refrigerator was stocked with water bottles when we arrived. A very pleasant stay.

The neighbors have 4 legs!

Deer, Cows, Donkeys, Bunnies visited us everyday. We spent the weekend in Coldspring at the house and really loved the seclusion. This place is great! LOVE the views front and back. This was such a peaceful home to stay in. Loved having all the land to walk the dogs on. House had everything we needed. Large wrap around patio with plenty of seating. Peace and quiet. My husband and 12 yo son stayed in the bungalow over a weekend. We arrived at night, the place looked so inviting lit up. Seeing it in the day, made us light up. So much to see around the property and house, whimsical decor outside and in making it such a delight. Off the beaten path

What a super find! We took a quick trip to visit family and this property was just a quick drive to the quaint little town of Coldspring. The little bungalow was very welcoming and super clean. I was extremely happy with the accommodations and the attentiveness by the owner to make sure we were checked in and all set. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants a bit of privacy.

We had the best couples get away! The house was so clean and the decor immediately relaxes you when you walk in the door. The owner is so sweet and checked on us to ask if we needed anything. The porch and kayaks are a great touch. We easily paddled out to the lake. The property is the perfect place to relax and unwind away from the city. We hope to return!!! Love Blue Gill Bungalow!

We are seniors so the lack of things to do in the area wasn’t that big of a deal for us! It was to cold to go out on the lake, we were there in the winter months. Still, enjoyed the peace and quit and the wildlife! Howard was a gracious host! Comfortable beds & loved the openness of the house. I enjoyed using the jacuzzi bath! There are a lot of cute shops around Coldspring & in Livingston to check out. All in all, loved the property!

Weekend at the bluegill Bungaloo

Nestled in the woods near lake Livingston ,Tx just a few miles from Coldspring , Tx is a true gem . The Bungaloo has a lot of character with modern amenities . Deer , squirrels , hummingbirds , and numerous lizards are available to entertain. The large windows allow you to enjoy the woods and creek , and cattle can be seen grazing in the pasture across the way . The host , Howard Ransom was very helpful , readily available via email or telephone . I highly recommend this retreat, and will be using it again

Buddy and Leo have owned this amazing lake property for over twenty years and have enjoyed many wonderful memories with our family and close friends! The bungalow has been transformed throughout the years with several different and innovative renovation projects. In the early years of ownership, we added the covered patios, stone sidewalks, picket fence & pergolas and much of the landscaping plants/trees/grasses. In 2016, we completely renovated the interior of the home to create the double master bedroom & bathroom suites, the kitchen remodel with Amish-made wood block countertops and we even added the family room stone fireplace for a flair of romance!

Bluegill Bungalow is a unique property because of its semi-secluded location with over five acres of fenced natural beauty as well as easy access to Lake Livingston through the adjacent water slough(Big Creek).
