Hidden on 7 forested acres, nestled in a grove of aspen trees, lodgepole pine and spruce, tucked away from sight and insulated by a mossy nest of granite and mica, this cozy A-Frame home is the perfect place to kick back, breathe deeply, and disconnect from the arduous day-to-day.. and only 90 minutes from Denver.
Its a short drive from our front porch to the Colorado Trail, Terryall Reservoir, Kenosha Pass, Lost Park Wilderness, and many other Colorado gold nuggets for backcountry enthusiast.
The master bedroom looks out onto a wooded hillside, frequented by rabbits, foxes, deer and elk. The kitchen is fully loaded with an oven, microwave, electric stove, fridge/freezer, and cookware.
The living room is a spacious, well lit room with high ceilings and large windows that look out onto the sage, trees, rocks, and in the distance, Grays Peak. There is also a woodburning fireplace (stocked with split wood) that will be your primary heat source in the winter.
The loft is incredibly cozy and has 2 twin beds.
Accordion Ranch is equipped with Wifi. There is a TV with a VCR and a collection of videos, as well as Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, etc (use your own logins for streaming) - there is NO CELL SERVICE, so plan to use wifi.
Please feel free to roam the property, we are on 7 acres and there are many places to stroll out to for a relaxing nature walk. Just be respectful of our property line and if you see another house, turn around. Located at almost 10,000 ft! There is also a unique granite rock wall that is great for climbing (about a 5.8 for those who know what they're doing).
In the winter months, Accordion Ranch is a more rustic experience. It is perfect for people who love glamping, yurts, or the 10th Mountain Division Hut System. We do not plow the driveway, and when there is snow we HIGHLY recommend parking at the bottom of the driveway and hiking your gear up to the house, about 2 hundred yards. We have sleds stashed for your convenience. There is no running water until spring, but there is a stove, and 20 gallons of clean water stored in the house for drinking, cooking, and cleaning. You MUST contact the host for further details about winter bookings.
Unfortunately, we do not allow pets. If you have pet allergies, please know that we have had a small dog in the house in the past.
The neighborhood is a sprawling, quiet, respectful neighborhood that values its solitude. There is a fantastic and very characteristic bar/restaurant by the entrance of the neighborhood called the Stagestop Saloon. Great food and drinks and a pool table! There is a very small market in the town of Jefferson, about 15 minutes from the house, otherwise, the closest grocery store is in Fairplay, 45 minutes away, so plan ahead.
Our neighborhood is accessed by c77 and is plowed regularly, however, snowdrifts are frequent and unpredictable so all-season tires (at a minimum) are recommended during the winter months. Snow tires and/or 4WD preferred.
