About this property

Cozy mountain cabin bordering national forest

Rustic and inviting cabin along a lovely mountain creek, borders Pisgah National Forest. You will love relaxing on the deck under the trees listening to the peaceful sounds of our creek. Inside your private retreat you will find a full kitchen, loft with queen size bed and full size bed in the downstairs bedroom. Comfortable dining and living areas with TV, Blue Ray player and free high-speed wireless Internet access. Spend the cool evenings in front of a cozy fire.
Nestled at the base of Mount Pisgah, your backyard is over 80,000 acres of protected National Forest. Enjoy hiking, mountain biking, and long nature walks just outside the front door. Take a leisurely drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway, just four miles from the cabin. At Creekstone Cabin you're only a 20-minute drive to Asheville and the best the area has to offer in attractions, entertainment, dining, shopping, outdoor activities, and more.

INSIDE THE CABIN
The upstairs loft is accessed by a narrow spiral staircase to the catwalk (see pictures) leading to the bed area at one end and and the dressing area at the other. Please mind your head up here as the ceiling is vaulted and the highest clearance is only 6 feet. The queen size bed faces creek side, letting you drift off to sleep to its soothing sound. When you awaken, you will find yourself just below canopy level looking down on the moss and rhododendron-covered back yard; a great way to greet your day. The downstairs bedroom has a full size bed that also faces creek side so everyone gets lulled to sleep by the burbling creek.
The kitchen is fully equipped with cookware, bake ware and your serving/dining needs. The kitchen has a microwave, toaster, mixer, utensils, paper and cleaning products, and full sized stove and range; everything you need to prepare a great meal. In the cabinet above the microwave you will find growlers to a couple of our local breweries and we hope you put them to good use!
The living area is a great place to relax for conversation or a good book in front of a crackling fire. Enjoy a movie from our library or stream from the cabin's Netflix account or your own streaming service via ROKU. Use your mobile device to stream your own music playlists through the Bluetooth equipped surround sound system. My cabin provides a great blend of rustic feel with modern amenities.
The well lit bathroom has modern fixtures, and offers a shower/tub combination. While small it has what you need, including hair dryer, soaps and shampoo in case you run short, and all your linen/paper needs.

OUTSIDE
The three season deck is just about every guest's favorite feature; a spacious 16' x 20' with gas grill, teak furniture, tiki torches and deck umbrella complete with lights! Great for entertaining, reading, watching the humming birds, goldfinches, and cardinals all to the backdrop of the burbling creek. To sit out here wrapped in the nurturing embrace of the woods will renew your strength and replenish your spirit.
Off the back side of the deck is a path that leads across the creek and into the national forest. Enjoy a short hike to Stony Fork Creek (1/3 mile) or a 3 mile round trip journey up to the abandoned logging road on the ridge line above the cabin. Take a walk down the road and explore the modest homes and cabins in the area.
The Pisgah National Forest and DuPont Forest in the area offer more hiking than a person could do in a lifetime. You will find hiking guide books and maps at the cabin that can help you decide which hikes are right for you. The Blue Ridge Parkway is 4 miles up the road from the cabin offering breath taking views, scenic drives, and (you guessed it!) plenty of hiking.

GRATITUDE
I'd like to say thank you for taking the time to consider booking my cabin. This truly is a special place that is precious to me; I miss living here every single day. My intent is to return and make Creekstone Cabin my permanent residence in 2024, maybe earlier if I'm very lucky. It has been a joy for me to share the cabin with like-minded people, looking for respite from life's demands. I am truly grateful to all my guests; you make it possible for me to hold on to this rustic gem.

We loved our stay in this peaceful little cabin. The water trickling by in the creek out back was soothing. We where to fortunate to be ether on a rainy week and enjoyed listening to the rain on the tin roof. The cabin was clean and had everything we needed for our stay. My wife enjoyed being able to go out the door and be on the trails in the forest. You go out to the back yard and you are in the forest. It's a perfect little spot for two looking to escape the city.

Perfect getaway

This was my second time staying at John’s cozy cottage. It is so warm and inviting. The property is beautiful. There are trails behind the house to explore and about a 15 minute ride to the Blue Ridge Parkway. The neighbors are friendly as well. We hope to be back next summer.

Hidden Gem

Secluded, yet near all! Perfect for my solo trip and all the necessities available to rewind and recharge. Excellent location and just tucked in enough to feel as if you were in your own private retreat. John was excellent and quick to respond to any questions. Cabin was as cozy as pictured and the fireplace was the icing on the cake! Hope to visit in the Spring to check out the nearby hiking trails!

Clean, comfortable, cozy, quiet, and a well-equipped kitchen, too!

We have enjoyed staying in this little cabin several times. When the weather permits we sit on the deck to have coffee or a meal, and listen to the nearby creek. There’s a trail in the woods just behind the cabin you can hike if you just want to enjoy the peace and beauty without getting in your car. As for the cabin, it seems to be supplied with everything I have needed, even some random kitchen items I didn’t think would be there.

Peaceful and relaxing

The cabin was a wonderful get away from it all. I loved waking up to the feeling of being in the treetops in the loft bedroom. It is well-equipped and comfortable. Nice, easy walks right out the back. Wonderful, comfortable deck where we ate just about every meal. John was great -- I knew he was just a text or call away. Helpful but not intrusive.

Relaxing stay

John’s property has everything you need. The kitchen is completely stocked to cook all meals. That was refreshing. We brought food to cook there and had every spice we needed. The water is delicious! If you are a water drinker like I am this is a real treat. We were able to hike and explore the region because we were centrally located. The wood burning stove was an added bonus. The cabin was clean and as expected.

A Piece of Paradise

My sister and I happened be in the same general vicinity in the world this weekend....a rare event these days as we live in different countries. We managed to get a last minute booking at Creekside Cabin in Candler to celebrate her upcoming 70th birthday. What a delight! Initially, we planned on spending most of our time exploring Asheville, but after seeing the cabin, ended up spending most of our time there....chillin' and chattin'. The location is perfect, close enough to dash into funky Asheville (20 minutes), if you choose to do so, while having a beautiful natural location as home base. The cabin is just as it should be...rustic...charming, very clean, well equipped and oh, so cozy. It truly is a gem...and we enjoyed every minute there. John, the owner, was super responsive, a delight to deal with. He even messaged us the morning after we arrived to make sure everything was as expected. It was all that and much more. Highly recommend a stay at Creekside. If you prefer quiet to city lights while still being within striking distance, nature to neon...you will NOT be disappointed. I may have left some food in the fridge. Sorry, John! Many thanks so much for your hospitality!

The cabin is extremely charming, albeit a bit musty and the coffee maker doesn’t work. But the location is to die for. I loved being able to take a short walk to the large creek in the woods, the moss yard, and all the flora and fauna. John is a very kind and communicative host as well. Overall a pleasant stay!

Nice cabin.

Is a very nice cabin in a very quiet neighborhood. My only complaint is it smelled a little musty but you only noticed when you first walk in. But great location loved the loft and that it backed up to the national forest. Was very nice to fall asleep to the sound of the creek

Perfect

We absolutely loved our stay in this Cabin. Very clean, well equipped, quiet neighborhood, comfy beds, and a lovely, lovely porch for relaxing in the evenings after hiking the many trails in close proximity to the cabin, one right out the back door ! We could not have asked for a more relaxing, comfortable, and convenient place to stay for our 42 anniversary. It truly was an excellent vacation experience.

About the host

Hosted by John

Host profile image
I grew up in a navy family, living all across the US; from Hawaii to Florida. While serving my country, I was able to continue my travels and experience different cultures and visit many amazing places. I have a great appreciation of life's simple pleasures and I believe Creekstone Cabin is one of those special places where you can reconnect with nature and truly relax.

Why they chose this property

The cabin was my primary residence for many years. I've since moved to Raleigh to pursue career opportunities but I could not bring myself to sell the cabin. One stay and you'll understand why; it's a small slice of heaven complete with a babbling brook to lull you to sleep. This truly is a rustic gem and I hope that all who stay at Creekstone Cabin will love it as much as I do.

What makes this property unique

Enjoy the big stone fireplace with wood burning stove to warm up by. Upstairs loft-style bedroom feels like your staying in a tree house and both bedrooms face creek side. The deck is perfect for enjoying your favorite beverage while watching the hummingbirds and goldfinches or catching up on your reading. Take a hike in the Pisgah National Forest following the path right from the deck! There are modern touches that I've done my best to merge with the rustic - Surround sound with blue tooth connectivity, high speed wireless internet, LED TV, and all modern appliances.
