Why they chose this property

Roebank Farm and the neighbouring Peninsula House both have historical significance in Bridgetown and were part of the first settlement in this area.

This delightful hideaway is located just 10kms from the heart of Bridgetown and after a short journey along a gravel road you’ll find our three character residences perched along the river bank with breath taking views of the sweeping valley.

The Roebank Cottage was built in 1890 by the grand-daughter of John Septimus Roe who was a famous civil engineer who contributed to the original town planning of Perth and Roebourne. It was constructed using clay bricks sourced from the local area. The original dwellings on the property were made from wood but unfortunately they did not survive the bushfires over the past 150 years.

The Riverbank Homestead was added to the the property in 1970s and has been built into the riverbank elevations to maximise views of the scenic Blackwood River from all areas of the home.

In the 19th century Roebank was primarily a sheep grazing farm and the original shearing sheds that stand today were used sheep farmers around the district. Farming activities have ranged from orchids, cattle, sheep and goats and today is a family hobby farm and accommodation for tourists.
