Set amongst native bush with beautiful views across Kenepuru Sound and Mt Stokes, this 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom holiday home is the perfect base for families or small groups looking to relax and explore the Marlborough Sounds.
The property has drive-on access, parking for a boat, and a wash-down area. A large, fully enclosed private deck features an oversized BBQ table — ideal for long lunches and family meals overlooking the water.
Just a short walk away, you’ll find a calm bay for paddleboarding, kayaking, and boat launching (4WD required). A mooring and dinghy are also available for guest use.
Sleeping layout:
- Master ensuite bedroom (separate from the main house, located at the end of the deck)
- Bedroom 2: Queen bed + single bed
- Bedroom 3: Double/single bunk combo
Location highlights:
- 10km from Portage Resort, 45 minutes from Linkwater
- Easy access to the Queen Charlotte Track at Torea/Portage or Punga Cove (20 minutes by car)
- Close entry point for the Mt Stokes walk (highest peak in the Sounds)
- Great base to explore: Pelorus Sound (45 minutes by boat) and Queen Charlotte Sound (via Torea Bay or Punga Cove by road)
- Multiple mountain biking entry points to the Queen Charlotte Track along the Kenepuru
- For longer stays, groceries can be delivered via rural delivery or by boat to Punga or Torea wharf
Please note: This holiday home is set in a beautiful remote setting with no shops nearby. Guests should bring supplies with them. From time to time, power cuts may occur during bad weather, but these are usually short-lived and part of the charm of an authentic Sounds experience.
Whether you’re after boating, bush walks, mountain biking, or simply relaxing on the deck with stunning views, this Sandy Bay holiday home offers a true Marlborough Sounds escape.
