Had a wonderful time !
It was so nice to have a private dock with great fishing and time away from the busy city life ! Pontoon rental was amazing . Very cozy and full of outdoor activities.
This was a great stay with my wife and two kids. A rustic cabin feel with enough amenities to make it just right!

Relaxing Weekend
Family and and friends booked and enjoyed a peaceful weekend stay at this rustic cabin. The owners offered for free a canoe, kayak and paddle boat which was nice to get out on the water with, even did some fishing along the shorelines. Lake is great place to swim and fish, and was a nice time to be away from city life. We often look for decent priced places, and we appreciate the lower costs to book a lakefront property. This place was a great value for your money as it offered everything we needed for a weekend getaway at a reasonable price.

Disliked: Cleanliness, listing accuracy
Minuscule bathroom. The dishes were dirty. Very hard to navigate the driveway. The stove was so dirty we couldn't use it. Not as advertised.
Too many lake flies and ticks for us. Tiny, tiny bathroom, basic amenities. Rustic and basic.

Shared from the owner:"Hi Tim, Thank you for your feedback. We're glad you chose to stay at our rustic getaway. As our listing and photos accurately describe, the property is designed to offer a cozy and basic experience close to nature. We understand that the presence of lake flies and ticks can be challenging, but they are part of the natural environment in our area. Our goal is to provide all the essentials for a relaxing weekend retreat. If there were specific amenities you felt were lacking, we would love to hear your suggestions so we can continue to improve our guest experience.Thank you again for your stay and your valuable input."
We had a beautiful experience with family. The fireflies and frogs made for a magical experience. Every night we had a campfire with the family and enjoyed meals outside on the picnic table. We enjoyed the games for the children. We LOVED the screen porch - wish we could have slept out there! We will be back.
We were in the area for a funeral so just needed a place to sleep and unwind. Definitely small but served our needs - the driveway is extremely steep. If you have anyone in your party with mobility issues I would not recommend this property. Beds are very firm - couch was more comfortable! All in all it worked fine and was lovely to be on the water.

Very little upkeep
The inside of the cabin was very rustic, which is fine, but had some cleanliness issues and the shower was such a tiny trickle it was near impossible to rinse off the soap. The outside of the cabin and the grounds around it appear to have been left to decay for years and years, including the pontoon. If all you want is a place to sleep and you're fishing all day, this would work. If you want to enjoy the outside area, I recommend you do not choose this property.

From the owner: “We’re so grateful for your feedback and for giving us the chance to improve. We’ve already updated the shower head, and we’ll keep an eye out for those little details moving forward. If there’s anything else that could make your experience even better, we’d love to know.”
It was what we expected, a fun little cabin, cute but not fancy, to stay in with our family of 4 for a couple of days. We enjoyed the lake for boating (used the canoe and brought 2 kayaks). We considered renting the pontoon but the weather was not cooperative for a day outing. There is a lot of algae in the lake so we did not swim at all. The arrangement of the cabin is efficient and has two sitting areas with views toward the lake through the woods.

The cabin is nice . Can tell they are updating. But bugs can get in. And they have some mice . Had to wash dishes every time because of mice droppings. Boat was nice to take out one day. We enjoyed that a lot. Just wish the fishing was better lake has low oxygen. Would love to come back once the cabin has more updating.
We did not stay . We got there and the toilet and shower wasnt working , owner said plumber was comi
We did not stay . Plumbing wasnt working due to the big storm . We talked with owner and he said he understood. No bathroom or shower working

Hi Lisa, the right vacation home is everything, and we're disappointed if this wasn't the one for you. We followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and they wanted to share the following: We are so sorry this was your experience. We were happy to provide a refund as soon as we heard about the situation. We have since had a professional fix the issue. We hope that the refund from the homeowner made up for some of the inconvenience this situation caused, and we’d love the opportunity to travel with you again soon!
Nothing fancy here (hence the cost). Driveway is very steep (as stated) and not assessable. Beds not very comfortable (couch worked better for one of us. Bathroom very small (an overweight person would have a hard time in there. Pontoon was nice but didnt think we were going to make it back to dock on our second trip back from across the lake (perhaps a motor tuneup or fresh fuel is in order?) Overall we were satisfied.

Bill, We're happy that overall your stay at our property was satisfactory, we appreciate your feedback but would like to know what we need to do to make it a 5-star experience.
Owner's response:
"Regarding the driveway we do mention that the driveway is steep, however, I have driven up and down with a compact car and had no issues
- While we try to accommodate all guests' comfort, we're sorry the mattress didn't meet your preferences
- We have not had anyone complain about the size of the bathroom, we're sorry if you felt it was too small
- We have taken out the pontoon a few times and have not had any issues. This is an extra booking option, and if you didn't feel safe could have passed on it we would have been fine with that
We truly go above and beyond for our guests, and are confident that future guests will have excellent stays! We will continue to strive for those 5-star experiences we know we can deliver."
Great place to kick back and relax, located on a very pretty lot on eau claire lake. There are large houses on either side but it still felt very private where we were. The fire pit was located just outside the cabin, there were string lights and an overhead light which lit the outdoors up and plenty of comfy chairs for a late night hangout. The sauna was a nice bonus hidden behind kind of a scary door but really clean and it worked great. We also took the canoe out for a paddle and caught a good size bass on our way back to the cabin. The place was stocked with what we needed, was clean and was plenty big for 4 people. The property manager was very responsive, friendly and accommodating.
The driveway is very steep we could get a van and compact car down but we were a little nervous. The property manager may be ok with you parking at the top of the hill and walking down which was easy for us. Not a whole lot for stores or shopping nearby but you can get the necessities
Read the property description and come with the right expectations and youll have a great time. I would have paid more for the stay and would stay again
it was a perfect northwoods experience! my g/f and I made the best of this beautiful little cottage and Eau claire river area. fishing by day, stargazing and campfire stories by night, the sauna hit the spot perfect, and the pontoon brought us to the fish! we can't wait to get back!
Was a great 5 days! Only hiccup was that the lake was closed due to dangerous algae. So was unable to use pontoon that we were very excited to use but that’s no fault of the property and it’s managers. Place was great, found tons of other fun things to do and most importantly of all my son and fiancé had an awesome time.

awful
We contacted Christopher who stated he would bug bomb and have someone come to repair. As we knew the extent of these repairs would take a significant amount of time, we could not sit around and wait all day for repairs, especially with a child. Our 4 day stay ended up being 12 hours.
We reached out to the guest contact, the homeowner, and evolve, and a month later, we still have not had any of our payment returned after several claims and providing photos.

Hi Leslie, we always appreciate hearing from our guests, but we would like to take a moment to clarify what happened during your stay: We apologize for the issues you experienced during your trip. We take the comfort of our guests seriously so immediately responded to your complaint about critters and attempted to come over to resolve the issue. However, you left the home before we could make things right. We truly go above and beyond for our guests, and we are confident that future guests will have excellent stays!
Gorgeous property for an unplugged, rustic retreat
Loved the lake access and rented the pontoon boat to maximize time on the lake. Canoe was fun to take out, too. Spent lots of time hanging in the shaded and peaceful yard, reading, playing guitar, eating meals and enjoying the fire pit. The cabin itself is as described - definitely rustic and could use some work but was a decent place to sleep. We cooked most meals on the grill - wish we had brought some sharp knives to cut meat, otherwise kitchen had the bare essentials. A nice getaway overall.

Make sure your phone is charged, or just avoid all together
Let me say we are in no way finicky travelers, however this cabin was not worth the headache. Make sure your phone is charged because you will be calling management A LOT
Day 1, arrived, attempted to use boat, didnt work, called management, they sent someone out who worked on the boat, and 2 hrs later we were on water, however twice the boat stalled, so we were grateful when we got it back to the dock.
Day 2 - it rained, no biggie so we thought we would use the sauna......big surprise it didnt work, let management know we were told to check the fuse box, which we did, still didnt work. Ok maybe we would watch some local TV or a movie, they have a DVD player, however no actual DVD's, and we couldn't even get local stations on the TV.
Day 3, tried boat in am, didnt work, tried boat in afternoon, got it to run for 15 min and we went for a ride, it stalled by the dam and were grateful that a good neighbor pulled us back in to the dock, called management, and they asked if we checked the oil....seriously!!!
Day 4 the toilet started to back up in the shower, we tried plunging the toilet, plunger didn't work so we went to gas station to borrow a plunger, still toilet not functioning properly, called management, we were told again to check fuse box, and that they would send someone.
No one ever came we spent the next day and a half using the bathroom elsewhere because we were so worried that it would overflow. Management called me 1 hour after we checked out and asked if any one ever showed up to fix the bathroom, completely unprofessional
Not to mention, the floors weren't finished in sunroom, and that there were ant traps throughout the rental and ants on the walls. The only saving grace was that we had brought our own fishing boat and the actual location.
Drive way is extremely steep, not one I would attempt in winter.
My advice is to find a different place to stay on the lake, this place is not ready for renters unless you enjoy spending part of your vacation on the phone with management

Home away from home
It was a great spot to stay. I love to fish and hunt but not huge on having to go all the way to my hunting spot 45 minutes there and 45 minutes back every time and this cabin is perfect. Its only 10 minutes from public hunting lands and fishing right off the dock. The master bedroom was comfortable after a long day of hunting then having the fire. I love how they have pictures of the actual lake and sunset straight from the dock. The little fireplace inside was perfect to you quick my feet back and relax. I had my daughter come with to fish and she kept mentioning how she loved all the colors. We had smores in the fire pit outside and was perfect for father daughter time. The sauna was also great for some stress relief off my back after lots of walking. I will definitely be booking again!

Great spot
Let me start out by saying what a great place to get away from the crazy world we live in. My family of 4 had a great weekend in this cabin. It was spacious and steps away from the water. My 2 boys had some fabulous time fishing. An amazing host. Would definitely recommend this place. Will be back soon!
