Minutes away from the lake, famous Shawnigan Lake school, village and so many local attractions such as the famous Kinsol Trestle, wine tours, Mill Bay marina/ocean and hiking/biking trails. Backyard faces Renfrew Road which is along Shawnigan Lake and is fenced to protect your fury friend. 5 minutes from public beach access at Shawnigan Park beach located near the village in the heart of town. A Hot tub/ spa is also available for your enjoyment. Stroll the Shawnigan Village Rail Trail to Mason’s store or Mason’s beach. A 2 minute drive from Village on Shawnigan Lake Road right on Recreation Road takes you Old Mill Waterfront Park with a sandy beach and playground. West Shawnigan Lake Provincial Park is nearby and is a sanctuary for Douglas fir and also has lakeside beach access. A 5 minute drive to Kinsol Trestle for cyclists and hikers. Short drive to “Napa of the North” Cowichan Valley with 14 unique wineries making it a destination wine region. A retreat not far from our home

The property was the place to spend time away from the city without a long drive. It was a nice spot for a bit of respite.

Short get away

The house and yard are exactly as described. The suite was so comfortable and spacious. The flowers were just starting to come up but I’m sure they look as great as the pics show once fully bloomed. We got to enjoy the hot tub for a few nights and the outdoor fire table when the weather prevented us to relax in the tub. Ruby was the best co-host anyone could ask for. Sweet, cuddly, playful and funny are just a few words to describe this amazing pup. We looked forward to all her visits, especially the morning ones. Would definitely stay here again.

Getaway in the trees

It's a very nice ambience in the backyard with the lights and fire pit and the outdoor dining all on a patio nicely landscaped beautiful environment. Fully equipped kitchen with extras such as loads of spices and teas and coffees. A great home away from home.

Everything We Hoped

Our desire was to enjoy the last weekend of summer outside so we chose this place. We spent most of the weekend around the outdoor fire on comfy couches under cozy blankets. The backyard is gorgeous and you can enjoy it rain or shine. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need. Everything is clean and comfortable. The hosts were great and responsive when needed.

A special anniversary stay

My husband and I decided we needed to get away for an anniversary celebration and wanted to take our dog. After hunting through listings, we found this place in the Shawnigan Lake area that had a fenced yard and welcomed dogs. We are so glad we found this location. It was perfect for us and our dog. We arrived to discover a "Happy Anniversary" banner over the little fireplace and some chocolates. So very kind! The apartment itself is on the lower floor of the house and is very well appointed. Everything one could want in the kitchen and the place was spotless. The outdoor seating area was really well laid out but we didn't use it due to the snow and hail. We could have put on the heaters, but we were quite cosy in the apartment itself. The backyard was ideal for our dog and she thought Ruby, the resident dog, was wonderful although I think Ruby wasn't as thrilled with the young, bouncy border collie. Once our dog understood that Ruby didn't want to wrestle, they happily coexisted. The location was great for us to do some hikes each day. Good access to the Kinsol Trestle, the Cobble Hill Mountain Regional Recreational Area and Old Baldy mountain. Also there were plenty of restaurants and vineyards to visit where we could celebrate our hikes and anniversary. All in all we had a wonderful stay and would enthusiastically recommend this listing to others.

Lovely property and amazing backyard. We arrived at night and it felt like a little oasis. Hot tub was absolutely perfect! Amenities were good in regards to the coffee machine, TV and ability to control the heat. Just be careful of the bed posts in the master room, my husband and I both stubbed our toes multiple times as they stick out. But likely more of an an us problem

Scared to use toilet, plugged after 3 pees. Dirty kitchen, smelly bedding, bugs, cobwebs. Dirty cups from cupboard, very dusty. We left after 1st night. Very unhappy with this property owner!!

Great garden suite!

Lovely garden suite with beautiful deck/ backyard access. Loved the fire table and hot tub. Owners werent home during our stay so it was very private. 5 min drive to the lake & town. Lots of little gems (hikes, shops, swim spots etc) around this area . Picture is from hike about 20 min away from house, with great views overlooking Shawnigan lake!

This beautiful gem is perfectly located at Shawnigan Lake, approximately 30 min from downtown Victoria. This property comes fully equipped with a kitchen, BBQ, king size bed, patio, and a hot tub. And of course, Ruby the Doodle is an extra addition to the full suite of amenities, offering security, taste testing, and companionship. We really enjoyed staying at this property and we would recommend this home away from home to anyone! Thank you Sylvain!!!

Great location

My son was competing in a rowing regatta at the West Shawnigan park. This was the perfect location, close to the park, quiet and cozy to retreat to after the races! We also really enjoyed the daily visits from Ruby!

The perfect suite!

The indoor space was so cozy and bright with lots of windows and an eclectic fireplace. The outdoor space was spacious and beautiful. We love dogs and every morning Ruby came to greet us. The weather wasn't ideal while we visited but looking forward to going back when the sun is out.

A Relaxing Stay with Our Dogs in the Oasis

We, a party of three with dogs had a great stay. The house had everything we need for a 2-day stay. The courtyard setting had a great ambiance, very welcoming and relaxing, just like in the pictures. What I enjoyed most is having my dog lying on one side and Ruby, the house dog, on the other side with me, listening to the soothing flow of water cascading from the fountain next to us. That’s my version of a mini vacation ! Thank you Sylvain and Ruby, the best four-legged hostess!
