Welcome to Serenity, your new favorite beach vacation getaway! Located in the heart of Kill Devil Hills, NC, we are proud to offer:

Fun in the sun

We enjoyed the stay, the property and the location. Easy access to the beach. We had 2 minor issues that the owner addressed immediately that did not affect our stay in any way. They were great to work with!

Great place

It was spacious with room to spare! Host was attentive and easy to work with. Everything you need is at the house. We wish it wasn’t raining so we could’ve made use of the bikes, hammocks and hot tub. We would definitely stay here again.

Short get away

We chose to stay in the outer banks as it was one of my brother’s favorite places. We were just there for the weekend to remember him. Lauralee was super responsive and so easy to work with. The house is plenty big enough for everyone to have their space. Lots of amenities and close to the ocean and sound.

We enjoyed our stay. Nice amenities - updated backyard, hot tub. Recommend darking curtains for bedrooms. Bugs bag outside during our stay. Maybe use bug service or provide deterent for bugs!

Beautiful home perfect for multiple families!

This house has everything you could want or need! Everything has been thought of to make your stay easy and comfortable, from linens and towels to lotion and soap, even plenty of trash bags! It is perfectly laid out so my family could stay upstairs with a kitchen, and my dad could stay downstairs with his own kitchen. He loved it. We enjoyed bike rides and quick drives to the beach. We will definitely stay again!

Perfect spot for an Outer Banks getaway!

Serenity did not fall short of its name! In town for the OBX Bike Week, a serene reprieve is a must after long days of riding and this home away from home was just that! First of all, location is vital, located right in the heart of the outer banks visiting north or south bound was a breeze. And after a day of touring the islands a clean and comfortable place to land for the night is what is needed for the mind and body. Serenity was spotless and stocked with everything one could need when on vacation from crisp linens and towels to relaxing spaces to unwind. And the layout of the house is perfect for more than one family. I would recommend this OBX home away from home for everyone and give it 5 stars all the way around!

Beautiful Serenity!!!

This lovely home is in a quiet neighborhood which is just minutes from at least 3 easy public access points to the beach, lots of great restaurants, and shopping. The owner has thought of anything and everything you might need to take advantage of the area and beach! The linen service is extra but definitely worth it for us. This place has a kitchen and bedrooms on each floor which was perfect for my elderly father. The home was very tastefully decorated and clean. The owner was very responsive despite the fact she was on her own vacation! This home was honestly more than we needed but the price and location could not be beat. Two families could stay here without too much trouble. Highly recommended!

Everything was absolutely wonderful. The location was perfect for everything we wanted to do. Local restaurants, beach and intercostal area for the small children. The accommodations were also absolutely what we were looking for. They provided a large family area, separation so people could have their own private space, go for a bike ride or just hang out in the yard.

My family and I enjoyed our time here in the Outer Banks. The location of this property is great because it's close to the beach and restaurants and has enough parking for the family. We loved the front porch and the access to the Blackstone and the beach toys, chairs, beach cart. We didn't get to use the bikes as much but it was great to have the option. The washer/dryer was awesome to have and we used it all week. Another highlight for us was the Nintendo 64 downstairs. We got to play our childhood games and it was really fun to reminisce together. Some things we noticed was the overall cleanliness of the home. The bathrooms and the bedrooms were clean enough with fresh sheets, towels, and bathroom amenities. The places that need a through cleaning were the vents, walls, and floor throughout the entire home. When we walked around barefoot, our feet would be black from the floors. The air vents were covered in dust, and the walls had visible fingerprints and dust on them. Secondly, the kitchen had little space for us to put our own food for the week. There was old spices and food that other people left from past visits that took up the majority of the space. Overall, we really did enjoy our time here but to ensure that the next families visiting have an even better time, we wanted to pass on the things we discovered.

Our family consisted of my husband and I, our two grown children and their spouses, and three grandchildren in the six to eleven age range. Your house was a wonderful place to stay and enjoy each other. It was exceptionally clean, the beds were comfortable, it was stocked with plenty of board games and other amenities that came in very handy. Location wise, it was perfect with easy access to local, and not so local places. It had plenty of grocery stores nearby, and the kitchen was well stocked to do a lot of home meals.Correspondence was great, and all of my questions were answered quickly. I would highly recommend this house to anyone!!

Perfect spot!

We love the location of this property! A quick bike ride to the Greenway and a short drive to the beach! Plus it is in the middle of excellent restaurants and attractions. Super clean home and has every thing we need for our stay, plus some! Spacious and roomy. We had a wonderful time and didn't want to leave! We will visit again!!

We stayed a week in February as a family and had a wonderful bonding experience. The house was spacious and having a split level for the kids to get away by themselves was a welcome feature. There were MANY amenities that you would otherwise have to transport yourself if you stayed anywhere else - beach chairs, beach wagon, bikes, kayaks, etc. We loved the proximity to the beach in this quiet neighborhood. The property was extremely close to grocery stores, restaurants, and kid-friendly activities - putt putt golf, sugar planet, go karts, and more. We definitely recommend this property for those looking for family time near the beach with many plusses on top ot that.

Great beach getaway for a big family

We stayed at this property for three nights - 4 adults and 5 kids ages 5 through 12. The location felt safe and was close to everything. The yard was great! Had all the amenities we could have hoped for - the only thing we wished we had was firewood. The owner responded quickly and was very helpful and kind. We would visit again.

Serenity is owned by Dennis & Lauralee, who have 4 beautiful children. We are entrepreneurs from northern Virginia, who have businesses in real estate investing, home building, HVAC contracting, and short term vacation rentals. We also homeschool our children and enjoy traveling and spending lots of time outdoors.

Why they chose this property

We purchased and renovated this home in 2011 and rented it out as employee housing for a local beach resort until 2021. We loved this home because of its location on a quiet street, in a safe, family-friendly neighborhood with nearby residential cops keeping an eye out for the community's safety and well-being. During the spring of 2022, we made a spontaneous decision to refurnish it as a short term rental vacation home, and we have had so much fun bringing it back to life in such a short period of time! It is really important to us to help other families make special memories here as we have and to create a luxurious vacation experience that our guests want to revisit year after year. Having this home has given us a unique opportunity to practice hospitality while offering a wonderful, serene vacation getaway for families and friends who want to enjoy all that the Outer Banks has to offer.

What makes this property unique

**NEW! We have recently completed an extensive, fenced-in backyard renovation complete with a NEW HOT TUB, beautiful sectional sofa and a dining table with 6 chairs that are nestled under a shade canopy. Also newly added is a fire pit surrounded by 3 super comfortable Nags Head Hammock swings. In one corner of the yard hangs a cozy hammock as well as a clothesline on the opposite fence for those wet swim suits and beach towels.
Attached is a garage, with washer and dryer and a fun outdoor entertainment setup with a TV, comfortable seats, beach toys, beach chairs, 2 beach carts, 6 bikes, a wave ski (surf kayak), a Blackstone Culinary Griddle, and a canoe and kayak in the backyard, perfect for viewing the gorgeous sunsets over the sound just west of the house. On the front porch are four cozy chairs with a table, perfect for that early morning cup of coffee as the sun comes up over the distant ocean, quietly flooding the waking neighborhood with its warm glow. Towels and linens, as well as other personal amenities are included.
**PLEASE NOTE: The guest making the reservation must be at least 25 years old and must be among the group staying at Serenity. Smokers are not allowed either inside or outside the property due to severe allergies of owners and frequent visitors. Non-smoking guests only at this property. No work crews are permitted to rent this property. Thank you!
