spectacular stay, we were in good hands, the cottage was very nostalgic and had everything we needed. host was gracious and communicative. place was clean and area was quiet.
My family of 5 (3 adults, 2 teen boys) had a spectacular May 2-4 long weekend at Bart's place! The photos in the listing don't do the property justice as its way better than we expected. We had camp fires every night by the fire pit that's literally right between the cottage and the gorgeous lake. Bart supplied the wood and chairs that made that aspect of our weekend even easier. My crew loved the provided coffee and tea every morning and reveled in the games room throughout the weekend. The boys played for hours on the massive TV in the main living area in the evenings while the adults stole away to enjoy the wood pellet stove-warmed separate chill space to watch a movie after winding down from a long day of fun. The cottage is only about a half hour to 40 mins from Kingston so we spent one afternoon at Kingston Pen and checking out the historic downtown and Queen's U. We couldn't have asked for a better stay. Thanks again, Bart. We're all looking forward to next time to staying again at your cottage!
Lots of room for supper guests to sit indoors and out. Dock, fire pit, watercraft, games, BBQ … everything was great. Saw some loons, ducks, Canada geese, heron and a muskrat in the water!
The property was well maintained and very clean. The beds were very comfortable and the accommodations very homey. We will definitely consider booking for another family holiday. The Christmas decorations were a lovely touch.
Property is beautiful . Cottage is clean spacious and well kept. We had an amazing weekend and def reccomend . We will probably be booking again in the future
Bart had a phenomenal property on the lake! He was very communicative and provided great instructions for the property
Pictures were very accurate, and the cottage was nice and clean, along with having great amenities with the games room and large TV's and fantastic windows with views of the lake!
I would highly recommend
We stayed at this cottage for the weekend before the eclipse and had a wonderful time! 4 adults and 2 young kids and more than enough to do to keep everyone entertained and happy. Loved the use of the water toys and bikes, and the cottage comes stocked with everything you could need.
Bart is extremely responsive and an excellent host. Highly recommend!
I am from BC and travelled to Ontario for an all family “ weekend. The water was a bit chilly at this time of year but some of us still swam. The canoe/kayaks were a hit with all of us enjoying at the same time.
Water was clear enough to see turtles and fish
The cottage itself was beautiful and very well organized for visitors. Lots of private space inside.
The fire pit and outside seating was perfect for family fun.
A great place to stay.
Great location, all kinds of outdoor and indoor amenities. We enjoyed watching the local wild life, and fishing off dock was ok. Totally pleased, we'd recommend and would rent again.
Only issue was carrying our stuff down then up the outside stairs. Anybody with accessibility issues would have a challenge.
Nicely decorated home in a good location on a quiet lake with lovely sunset views. The home has a good selection of games for all ages - we never got the chance to enjoy the rec room, but did take full advantage of the kayaks. It was fun exploring the connecting lakes and observing the wildlife. We saw deer, loons, herons, beaver and muskrat. As a previous reviewer stated, the walkway to the home can be tricky to navigate if you have mobility issues. We were fine with it, but would be good information for potential future guests to know.
My family and I enjoyed our stay at this cottage immensely. The games garage was a big hit with everyone and I loved the coziness and warmth the pellet stoves provided as well as the breathtaking views. We visited in winter but plan to return in the summer so we can enjoy the lake when it's not frozen. Bart, the host, promptly answered all my questions and left detailed info about everything we may need to know. We can't wait to return!
We had a terrific stay at this Verona property. Communication with our host Bart was clear, timely, and informative. The house had all the amenities and space needed for five adults and was comfortable and welcoming.Located on Verona Lake, from our front window we were treated to regular sightings of otters, wood ducks, geese, loons and great blue herons as they made their spring migration north. A 5 or 10 minute walk took us to the K&P trail where we could literally walk for miles and where we spotted beavers, Blandings turtles, and a chorus of wood frogs. A quick walk from the property brought us to shops that offered all the options we needed for food resupply. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend or return to Bart's Verona getaway.
We had a wonderful stay at the cottage, the views, amenities, and the peacefulness we all got to experience was memorable.
We particularly love the seclusion as we try to have a quiet and spend quality time as a family, and the property is the perfect spot. We all had a wonderful-restful time.
Additionally, Bart was amazing, prompt, and caring. He offered to install the air-conditioned early as it was unprecedentedly hot temperature the days we were there; thank you for your thoughtfulness.
We hope to go back in the next few months and book the cottage on a yearly basis.
Our friends and I had a great weekend at the rental! Bart was responsive and thorough in replies and the check-in and out process. We especially liked the convenience of the kayaks/canoes and the board/video games available in the house. One thing to note is that the portion of the dock that sits on the rocks shifted (and tilted) quite a bit while only one of my friends was walking on it. We were concerned that the dock may be unsafe and hope it is addressed before an accident occurs. Otherwise, we would definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a 3hr lakefront cottage from Toronto.
Gorgeous lake, quiet and serene. Private. House well equipped with all you would need. Close to provincial parks and half an hour from Kingston.
Ladder to the lake from the dock could be longer. Difficult to get out of lake. Separate shower would be great. Easier access than tub. Bath mat in tub would prevent slipping.
First of all, Bart is wonderful. He was very communicative and responded quickly to any questions. The location was easy to get to from Toronto, easy access up to Ganonoque, which is where we had originally wanted to be, but couldn't find a spot up there. The house was great for our family of 5. It was clean and had all cooking pans, pots, etc. The pellet stoves warmed everywhere that we needed warmed. The Wii was a big hit with the kids, as was the separate garage with the pool table and darts.
